RE: Is there a preferred Browser for Moz?
Oh absolutely! Thats what the Moz community is all about!

Yes, I've also noticed that (with the recent Firefox updates) the browser is slower than usual. And I never run very many windows simultaneously. Hopefully they get this fixed!!
Glad to hear you are a fellow MAC!!

RE: Is there a preferred Browser for Moz?
Hey PompanoArtist!
I use Firefox as well but have discovered that most of the issues I've had were directly related to specific plugins/addons I had installed. By process of elimination I was able to find the addons that were creating the issues. Once I disabled them, problems went away! Hope this helps!
I don't have anything against Chrome but in my experience using a Mac, Chrome seems to use a lot of resources to run. On a PC however, Chrome seems to work much better. But I am a MAC HEad and refuse to use a PC LOL
Hope this helps!!

RE: Can you have an SSL cert but still have http?
Hey Ruben!
We have several eCommerce sites that only have the SSL on pages that "need" to be secured like the checkout pages, etc. I am not totally buying into all the SEO value of the HTTPS just yet. And honestly doubt I ever will.
IMHO I don't feel that all pages of a site "NEED" to be secured. To me it just doesn't make sense and we have plenty of sites that are ranking #1 for competitive terms that only use the SSL on checkout. Hope this helps!!!

RE: ALL CAPS in title
I agree with JVRudnick
IMO it just appears spammy to the users if anything. Its just annoying to me personally and nobody likes BEING YELLED AT but like JVR said, Google ignores it so I wouldn't worry about it effecting your rankings or anything. More just a User experience ordeal.

RE: Guru Needed
Monica, you should see if EGOL will be your guy! I believe it states in his Moz bio that he LOVES that type of work.
Juuuuust kidding!!! But seriously, he made some great points!! Best of luck

RE: Guru Needed
Hey Monica

Great decision!! A "professional" second set of eyes is always the best approach regarding online marketing. I would suggest that you go through the Moz Recommended companies and call around to find the best fit.
Also (if you haven't already) check out this WBF about the topic. Hope this helps you find the right fit!
Cheers!

RE: Do I have a problem with missing pages in Screaming Frog?
Hey Niners52! You a 49ers fan?
In my experience, yes, if ScreamingFrog cannot crawl those pages, you will definitely have an issue being crawled by Google as well. Are any of those pages/items currently in Google's index?
Would you mind sharing the URL with me? If so I'd be happy to take a look into it and see if I can help further.

RE: Hosting and SEO
Nice! Glad to be of help
A few things I want to mention...- Using a shared hosting environment presents issues for your site that you may not realize are there. Example: The other sites on the server may not be doing "wrong" today, but if they begin doing "wrong" somewhere down the line it could ultimately effect the IP of the server. Trickling down and potentially harming your site at the end of the day.
"If you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas" - I would highly suggest a dedicated environment. This keeps you in a controlled environment and allows you to focus on the more important things.
- A server is just like a computer. When we buy it and it is brand new it works VERY fast and everything is awesome! As time progresses and we begin filling up the hard drive, the computer begins to slow down. Keep this same thought process with the server that is hosting your website. You want the hard drive on the server that hosts your website to be as free as possible, thus keeping your site running optimal.
A CDN is great to use is you are hosting heavy content like videos, large/several images, etc. We've used www.maxcdn.com in the past for certain projects and it was fairly easy to implement and use.

RE: Hosting and SEO
Great point and I can't believe I left that out of my initial response lol. Thanks Ray!!
But yes, you can check your server using a site like: http://www.ipfingerprints.com/reverseip.php
This will show you if there are other sites hosted from the same server/ip address.

RE: Hosting and SEO
Hi Monica!
To answer your initial question I would have to say YES it can definitely effect your SEO in a number of ways.
Uptime/Downtime, Speed and Location can all effect your websites user experience & overall rankings.
Regarding the dynamic hosting, I don't have much experience with that but will look into it and if I discover any good info I will let you know.

RE: Delete my account
Hey gnhattien!!
While logged into your account, go to https://moz.com/subscriptions
From here, you can click the "Cancel" link (see screenshot) and have at it!
Hope this helps -
RE: Google no longer highlighting keyword times in titles within rankings?
LOL Ahh ok I see what you're saying. I think they did away with that a while ago. As of lately I've only seen them bold the searched KW's in the titles. Either way, they are certainly making changes!! Good stuff!
-
RE: Google no longer highlighting keyword times in titles within rankings?
Maybe I am misunderstanding...
I've never seen them highlighted, only bold. But can you provide a screenshot of what you are seeing in the SERPS? I'd love to see what you are talking about. Thank you!

RE: Do we take a SEO hit for having multiple URLs on an infinite scroll page vs a site with many pages/URLs. If we do take a hit, quantify the hit we would suffer.
Hey gsalcher!
I wish I had personal experience to share with you on this topic but I’ve never worked on ranking any infinite scrolling page sites. I’ve only heard horror stories but again I don’t have any concrete advice to give. Check out these articles on the topic from SEL & Inbound.org
Hopefully you get some takeaways from them. Cheers!

RE: W3C Validation: How Important is This to Ranking
Absolutely! I will dig into this tonight and give you my honest feedback. Something I did notice that I would make a top priority is the load time of the page/site.
Upon opening the page, I noticed it took a quite a bit to load. After running through Pingdom & Page Speed Insights (links below), I'd make the load time fixes a top priority for your developer.
I would jump all over these first and foremost but I will look through the html errors tonight and get back to you!

RE: Free Link Prospecting Tool
Gotcha! Yeah other than OSE (which is paid to get full access as you know), I'm not sure of any "freemium" modeled tools that would accomplish your goal. Hopefully someone reads this and delivers us both an early X-mas gift

Sorry bout that dude. Best of luck!!

RE: Free Link Prospecting Tool
Hey DJReason!
Other than the new features in OSE, maybe try SEO Review Tools...
Its free so I hope it does what you are looking for. Cheers!
