I'm wondering if there are any guides out there that list how subfolders should be structured for Internationalization? The first language/location that I'm targeting is Portuguese in Brazil so should my folder structure be:

www.example.com/br/pt/

or

www.example.com/pt-br/

I did find the guide below but was wondering if there was perhaps anything from Google?

I'm working on a resources section for our website and I'm wondering the best way to handle my sites information architecture. The resources section houses things like webinars (both upcoming and recorded), case studies, ebooks, etc. Should things like webinars and case studies be considered supporting content to our main topics?

For example we have a product that manages Rebates. So we have a page on our site dedicated to "Rebates". Would a webinar or case study about our Rebates software be grouped with "Rebates" or would it be grouped by content/resource type?

So for example a breadcrumb could look like this:

Home > Rebates > Rebates Webinar

or

Home > Webinars > Rebates Webinar

You can tell Google what URL parameters to ignore in Google Search Console. It's under Crawl > URL Parameters > Configure URL Parameters. Google does advise to use caution when changing how Google bot handles the parameters.

I think this structure makes sense from a users perspective and what our goals are as far as providing information. Typically we would want somebody to find our site because they have a particular problem and need a solution. They go to our page that has the solution and there to support the solution is a webinar further explaining how we may be able to help.

While we still do have this webinars page on our site, I don't think many people would say let's see what webinars they have before investigating a solution. A returning visitor or somebody that is already familiar with our solutions may go to our resources/webinars first but I feel like that would be the only case.

Creating these pages would definitely not be for targeting specific keyword terms but for providing more supporting content for our products and services.

I attended Mozcon this year and the session by Joe Hall "Rethinking Information Architecture for SEO and Content Marketing" has me considering some changes to our site structure and architecture. I'm currently putting together a landing page for our webinars but could things like webinars and case studies be considered supporting content to our main ideas?

For example instead of my architecture being:

home > webinars > webinar about an idea

It could be:

home > main idea 1 > webinar about an idea

So my webinar landing page would link out to all of the different webinar pages on the site instead of being contained in this bucket. Just wanted to get some thoughts on this.

This is exactly what I needed. I've been trying to push us in this direction but it's sometimes hard to break old habits. We might even be able to save a bit of money going this route.

If I were to start creating individual pages for things such as webinars or other resources for our visitors to consume would I be running the risk keyword cannibalization? The webinars cover topics around our products and services so my fear is that the content might compete with our product and service pages.

I noticed here at moz that each webinar does not have it's own page and just links to the registration page (https://moz.com/webinars).

Google recommends using https (https://webmasters.googleblog.com/2014/08/https-as-ranking-signal.html). Is there a reason why you no longer wish to utilize it?

So it sounds like you create an archive for the previous years event? Moving the previous years highlights to another page so it can still be accessed?

The url on our registration site changes but we redirect the main landing page to that url temporary. I think ideally the content for the event should be on the main domain and just utilize the third part event site to manage the registrations.

Seems like there are so many ways to do this.

Every year our company has a user conference with between 300 - 400 attendees. I've just begun giving the event more of a presence on our website. I'm wondering, what is the best way to handle highlights from previous years? Would it be to create an archive (e.g. www.companyname.com/eventname/2015) while constantly updating the main landing page to promote the current event? We also use an event website (cvent) to handle our registrations. So once we have an agenda for the current years event I do a temporary redirect from the main landing page to the registration website. I don't really like this practice and I feel like it might be better to keep all of the info on the main domain. Wondering if anybody has any opinions or feedback on that process as well.

Just looking for best practices or what others have done and have had success with.

Is there a tool that counts how many links there are on a page. We actually implemented a mega menu which we felt provided a better user experience.

When calculating the number of links on a page, are navigation links included in the total? I have all of my navigation links within the

<nav>element. I would think that there are a lot of sites out there that easily exceed the 100 link recommendation if you add up nav and footer links.   </nav>

You do have an empty meta description tag in the header of each page:

But it is followed by a meta description tag with content. Perhaps the crawler is getting caught up on the first one and reporting that?

I need to remove a user or seat from our Moz account but I don't seem to have the ability to do that. Is there anyway for me to remove a user?

Do you have any urls with query strings? I ran into this a few weeks ago. The report will see each url with a query string as unique and flag each one as missing a meta description if the main url does not have a meta description.

For me, it was just a registration form that had data pre-populated by the query string. I added a meta description to the registration form page, which was also pointed to as the canonical,  and 65 errors were fixed.

The page is actually a Registration form that is flagged for not having a Meta Description. So if I give the page a meta description will all of my registration form pages with query string parameters be removed from the report? Or are notices still flagged as "Medium Priority"?

I'm wondering if the moz bot is seeing my rel="canonical" on my pages. There are 2 notices that are bothering me:

1. Overly Dynamic URL
2. Rel Canonical

Overly Dynamic URL - This notice is being generated by urls with query strings. On the main page I have the rel="canonical" tag in the header. So every page with the query string has the canonical tag that points to the page that should be indexed. So my question...Why the notice? Isn't this being handled properly with the canonical tag? I know I can use my robots.txt or the tool in Google search console but is it really necessary when I have the canonical on every page?

Rel Canonical - Every page in my report has this notice "Using rel=canonical suggests to search engines which URL should be seen as canonical". I'm using the rel="canonical" tag on all of my pages by default. Is the report suggesting that I don't do this? Or is it suggesting that I should?  Again...why the notice?

Hello all,

I'm trying to setup a campaign in Moz for one of our subdomains that we use for marketing landing pages. Unfortunately there really is no home/landing page for the subdomain so when I enter it into the campaign settings it says the site isn't accessible.

Is there anyway for me to add this? I tried entering the subdomain with a star, e.g. pages.mydomain.com but it would not accept it.

Any ideas?

I was actually recently asked about a Wikipedia page for our company as well. We currently have a fairly strong brand but our domain authority is only 32/100 and we only have links coming in from 73 different domains(822 total links). Should we hold off on a Wikipedia page for the reasons outlined above?

Also, I should add that somebody did try to create one recently but it was deleted by Wikipedia.
