it depends one hundred percent on what you're trying to rank for if 7 keywords of yours are on the 1st page of Google that is a good start. If it is a truly niche niche market or the key words are absolutely relevant to your business you could be in a absolutely fantastic place. however if you're only ranking for brand words like your URL and very absurd longtail keywords with no competitive rank then that does not sounds so good. However if you are ranking for things with a lot of interest yes you're doing a good job anything over a few thousand a day I believe is a good start. I made a killing in the plastics business ranking for "release liner manufacturers" There are only 200 and some on the world so as you can understand being on the 1st page for that matters quite a bit even though it's a low number of people that visit they are all willing to spend tons of money and that industry frankly is not caught on to search engine optimization. So the answer is it all depends on what you're trying to rank for and how many people are looking.

I would use a company like http://www.writeraccess.com/ they are very inexpensive and you can get somebody to write your entire website with perfect grammar and spelling emphasizing the words you chose to emphasize and they will make sure in is 100% new fresh content. I would go about it this way than writing it myself I personally do not consider myself a good writer and employee company as well as writers access to do my blogging and website text creation.

As long as you keep the content 100% new and relevant to the website do not spin it or try to use The same site for every major city. You may use the same template but do not use the same wording. in fact make the wording very very different even though you're going to be selling the same thing over and over again. I want to ask you a quick question as well is this actually affecting your site what is your page rank? What is your Moz rank? How old is your domain? If your website is ranking well chances are Google understands that it is a e-commerce website and is not penalizing you as it would another type site. If you are being penalized by me know. You may also want to employee majestic SEO tools to look your link profile history in addition to the excellent tools found here. Remember you always have one private question every month if you're a pro member to ask the staff. I hope that it does not come to that however I do SEO on e-commerce sites and just use different descriptions never spin the content though make it fresh every time.

• Okay I think I have an answer for you. If you are an e-commerce website and you are having issues with duplicate content because of the reasons you've given let's say the main page shows everything shirts, then another page has blue shirts so the URL like HTTP://example.com/shirts and the blue shirt will be in a URL something like this HTTP://example.com/shirts/blue
• I believe this is forgivable however I would build my site out to reflect a new category and have the wording be unique for each so my blue shirt's description would be different on shirts that would be on shirts/blue I hope that makes some sense however I do believe that there is a whiteboard Friday just after Google dropped Penguin in our lap where Rand discusses this I will look for and add it to this if I can find it however if you look in the search box here on Moz you will want to type in something to the tune of "things we should not worry about after Penguin" now you have to understand I do not recall this exactly so I sincerely hope to you & let me know if I can and help you anymore.

Ps Google will have cached the site so people will still think you sell the product even if you block it when your out of stock.

I would not promote not in stock but coming soon maybe? Or you can list the true time it would take to order the products even if it's 3 weeks people will still buy if you can say this will be shipped when in stock that way you are covered. You can ask the mfg when it will be in and just list that. I would get a developer to make it so you know when stock # whatever is out then auto switch the txt to say the real ship date. • simply put I am dealing with something similar with woocommerce that you what I something you might not have the option to spend on the platform we're using to do if something is not in stock I can keep a giant thing that says not in stock or what most people do is wait for it to become  stock ready so place the shipping days on the description. Or simply block it out with rules meeting I have a plug-in that allows me to not show the item if I cannot sell it. Does that make sense? I like WordPress for e-commerce I know a lot of people will probably say that they don't however I believe woocommerce is pretty amazing.

I know exactly what you have to do. You should do a lot of blogging even no follow links have weight. If you build a WordPress site with a blog and actually try to fill it with somewhat decent non-recycled content always fresh and better than obviously it has been. You can then create a social media buzz about it then get people to naturally link to your interesting articles. It's inbound marketing and its effective and the Chinese won't ban you. Of course you want to index the site and do all be on page SEO needed however you obviously will need links and links coming from social media matter to Google and will matter to your site

I would use your home address if in the same area. Or I would go to Google maps. Then create an account then save the Google maps selection of where your business is in public. I would then also place that information on my website. All you really must do is register with Yahoo, Bing and Google of course for the area closest to you if for some reason you cannot use your business address I would use my home address so I at least get recognition. And I would definitely make the public addresses for your business there. And of course use things like Manta.com along with Yellow Pages.com  or Australias counterparts those will be picked up by the search engines

I am guessing you are talking about this as a report e-mail your receiving from SEOmoz? If so do not worry at all look at the top of the e-mail and you will see in small letters probably know rank changes something to that effect. All it means is that your Google, Yahoo, Bing results are the same or whatever search engine you chose. If you want to be double sure run it through SEM Rush and see what you get.

Yes everything was so the people said here was true. However I don't know why one person suggested you are building spamming links that seems strange that they would know that the information. However I have a rule that has worked very well for me post penguin and it is true about the 50-50 your domain let's take mine for example blueprintmarketing.com when you are building links you should never have to worry about counting otherwise Google regardless of the 50-50 rule may catch on if it looks spamming and it quacks spam you got issues including Google picking up on natural link building. And the matter what you do do not ping all of your links at once release them over slow point in time obviously Google is used as seeing links built by people putting their name, e-mail URL so you can use your URL or your name. My domain is somewhat of a exact match domain. I do not know what Google has in store for us but I do know it's only getting tougher. build link in a blog or in the main content area of the website. Take the link with the most authority I would use SEOmoz & Majestic SEO or just Raven tools to find out your highest authority inbound link and use the anchor text on those that use it very sparingly.

Justin it seems to me like you just need a little bit more time learning the fundamentals. For instance I have a domain that's I believe roughly 8 years old however I can post a blog article today August 27, 2012 and the blog article will show up as 2012. It is about Google trusting the domain. Imagine I go and Google register.com or  Go Daddy I will get an offer for anywhere from $2-$4 a domain if I was a a black hat I could exploit that measly four dollar expenditure and What do I really have to lose except for four bucks. So now us  so we get sandbox to for times of up to 6 months

So long story short the good guys. Punished because there is no better way of figuring out whether or not we or the bad guys have purchased a $4 domain. And are going to go on a malware campaign or do something good with it. That's why in the future you can Google this the longer the domain has been registered in good standing and the longer it has left before it expires the better rank Google will give you. It makes sense if you're going to put all that time in to just some domain and turn away after a year that's crazy I just reregistered my domain for 5 years it is showing up on some search engine optimization tools as excellent. I suggest you find a good host and do the same.

You should create back links but you should do it in an inbound marketing manner. Looking at sites like http://hubspot.com will give you a lot of insight to the basics of how to get links. If you keep writing quality articles and posting them on twitter Facebook LinkedIn everything you will find that people do look for well-written high-quality knowledgeable information on the web. And it will happen I promise you I know it sounds bad man to ask you to wait. I have two been hit by the economy and honestly SEO has help me beyond belief.

I hope you don't mind me asking for some help I did not know what you are going to do. Unfortunately links still carry a lot of weight and Google has the entire Internet to clean up so it may take time. If I may ask you what is your link profile look like?

I can assure you that if I wish to I could get a site with nothing but links to rank extremely hot I would never do it because Google will penalize me so badly it would be a complete waste of time and knock on my reputation. I agree with you content is King. Trust me man I know you're frustrated and I wanted to just touch on the last point you said. Do not go into the spam/black hat direction for your own sake. I have over 100 spam links that have attempted to be added to my blog in the last week. That's not even very much however I use tools to prevent this and 99% of all blogs have no follow so you will not be getting the same amount of link juice you wish you would buy during black hat SEO.

I would be happy to show you the growth of websites I have worked on doing the right thing and how many websites post penguin have really been hit hard. This would I think prove to you that over time of approximately 6 months ( less if your domain is older) you will have no issue getting your site past the junk sites you are trying to beat now. please don't just take my word for it take Google's or any one else here. In fact if I may ask for an admin to explain this better I feel I would be doing you a much greater favor. Please make sure your robot text as well as your sitemaps are in place. And remember I would be happy to show you what the ability to wait and see give you in the long run. As I'm sure anyone here at SEOmoz will agree with me there's no way to completely  a  rid the web of spam based websites however I do feel their days are numbered and if you want to pick a side now you have made the right choices so far please do not become part of the problem it honestly will not benefit you or anyone else.
