Meta tags - are they case sensitive?
It's the wordtracker chrome add-on called scout. I was using it to find high performing keywords and decided to run it on my own site. That's when I noticed no meta description being highlighted. There are no settings in the add-on though I did some more reading and w3.org states it is good practise to use lower case for all HTML elements and attribute names, so I'm going to change it. http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/#h-4.2 Better to follow good practice than bad.

Hover texts for hyperlinks
The link title element is not known to be a significant ranking factor. In fact, stuffing this attribute with keywords might even have the opposite effect. This is one of those cases where you ask "what's best for the user?"

Should you cache redirects?
Sorry for the late response, but I can sum up my answer in a brief way. I agree with you. If SEOmoz is finding the meta refresh, it's likely Google is too. And why the meta refresh? Why not a 301 redirect? Could you provide an example of one of your search pages? Feel free to private message me if you don't want to share publicly.

Google tagged URL an overly-dynamic URL?
it's almost never a good idea to use Google UTM tagged URLs internally, Cyto. Doing so really screws up your analytics for a number of reasons. (not to mention triggering the warning you're seeing) if you need to track activity on internal links, the correct way to do it is with event tracking. In addition, often the In-Page Analytics section of the Content area in Google Analytics can be useful as well. Paul

Google cached pages and search terms
Thanks AntkitMaheshwari and Danrawk, I've just downloaded a chrome extention to view text versions of the cached file. Our built in template is spewing multiple h1s but that's something we need to look at separately. We also have a lot of menu links which might be pushing the crawling to review the text at a later stage..But still, it skipped the H1 and first paragraph. I'll look into this a bit more. Danrawk, on page grader gives an A and there is no weird formatting. Maybe it's a conflict issue. It's counting the first H1 and skipping the second. Hmm...

Can you use the image description for IMG ALT?
I would also encourage you to keep visually impaired users in mind, as alt-img tags (and contextual text) are how they determine what an image is. The screen reader skips over blank alt-img tags, and reads all others out loud.

PDFs and images in Sub folder or subdomain?
Hi I personally would host them in a subfolder - especially the PDFs as they are likely to gain links and these links will help strengthen your domain. However if you have them in a sub-domain they won't have the same benefit from the links as Google essentially treats sub-domains as a separate domain. This will also limit the ranking ability of PDFs as they won't benefit from your domains authority on a sub-domain. Have a look at this article for a bit more insight into subfolder vs sub-domain - http://www.seomoz.org/blog/understanding-root-domains-subdomains-vs-subfolders-microsites I hope this helped..

To Overlay or Not to Overlay? Country Selector
Thanks Oleg, I thought of "forced IP" but felt it might be more of an annoyance to the user. I need to sit down and do a pro vs con of the overlay and IP options to finalise my decision.

Same page but appearing in Google with different titles
Well, i'm ranking for both so it's all good However, it has given me an insight to review the keywords driving traffic and amend the page title to a much longer one.

Host a wordpress blog as a folder or external site?
No problem Cyto - there is a lot to consider with this project. I agree Chris, that is why I would only place a followed link on the homepage of the blog acknowledging the association. If you were to link on the other pages then I would tend to no follow them as you don't want hundreds of links from one of your sites to the other - I have done this successfully previously and this is clear that you are not trying to manipulate rankings. That is why having a blog that is integrated on your own site has the greater potential in terms of gaining links as mentioned, but there are the other factors to take into consideration too..

Dynamic pages - ecommerce product pages
Hi Cylo, I'm not sure if saying Google caches dynamic pages automatically is an accurate thing to say. I would say it like this: Google is more apt to cache and index a dynamic page if it is given a SEO-friendly URL. Perhaps a Mozzer who is more technically adept than I can comment on the accuracy of that statement. That being said I definitely wouldn't recommend using dynamic URLs (which it sounds like you are not). Here is how you can set up URL-rewrites in your .htaccess file if you are on a Linux server: http://www.webconfs.com/dynamic-urls-vs-static-urls-article-3.php Not sure if that's helpful at all. I hope it is somewhat Dana

'Select your country' page leading to high Temporary Redirects
Hi Zeph, The select your country only appears for product search results or product pages as it determines the country specific price. Before we had the country selector as the first page upon visiting our website but that annoyed visitors as there were resource rich pages on our site and not everyone might be interested in products pages. The thinking was to only show the country selector if the page visiting required it (price) Another way we looked at it was a user might land on a resource page from a search engine, again popping the country selector would be unnecessary. Once they accepted their country, the cookies will store and won't show this option anyone.

Meta Refresh tag on cache pages- GRRR!
No problem at all. As for a chain of redirects, this isn't how Google will see it. They even say that a redirect from one page to another is fine... it's when you get into the realms of 'page a --> page b --> page c' that it will become a problem. A temporary redirect when used for a permanent move is a little dodgy to say the least and should be corrected. Also, what is the chance of 20 people hitting the same page at exactly the same second? And even if they do, it just means they each wait half a second rather than 22ms - I can see no problem with that whatsoever. Even at half a second, this is still very fast. You can still cache pages through htaccess if you want - doesn't mean you have to ignore caching just because you do things the right way Andy

Not schema, but a new kind of search result?
Okay, I found this post by Dr Pete called 'How Do I Get Google's Bulleted Snippets?'. The post is describing what I found above. http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-do-i-get-googles-bulleted-snippets Interestingly, no affirmative conclusion was made as to what a user needs to do to obtain the search result..
