Indexing of Search Pages
Hmm, so what it comes down to is that, you can index search pages but provided they have a purpose or add value to the end user. For instance, A user would search by category whereas an individual product search result isn't necessary when a product page exists. Thanks Dirk for the links, helps a lot Cyto

Google Search Results...
I see. If you have some idea of what section of your site might be in there that you don't want, you can use site:company.com inurl:whatever to narrow it down. You should know the file or call for search and shop pages and can put that name after the inurl modifier.

Breadcrumbs and Left hand menus....
Depends a lot on how you configure your site. If your site isn't deep (meaning the number of pages to navigate to a given page) then breadcrumbs don't make as much sense. If you use broad categories with a drill-down into increasingly specific categories before you reach a given content page, however, then it makes a lot more sense to offer breadcrumbs, The purpose of breadcrumbs is to show the navigation path to that page. I wouldn't worry about the duplicate links. A site may link to a page internally multiple times. Internal links are not counted as votes like external links are.

Thinking about not indexing PDFs on a product page
Thanks EGOL, I didn't think about using rel=canonical on htaccess. Great idea

URLs: Removing duplicate pages using anchor?
Thanks Everett, Rel="canonical" is in place, so that's covered The urls with the parameter are only accessible if you want to directly access a particular size. If you are on the default page and switch sizes from the dropdown, no URL change is presented. I have left webmaster to decide what should be crawled or not. The parameter has been mentioned though.

CSS Hidden DIVs - not collapsable content. Amber light?
If its relevant, done with usability in mind, and is not deceptive then it should be fine. Here's a related Article from Search Engine Roundtable with Matt Cutts video: http://www.seroundtable.com/google-hiding-content-17136.html

Static pages with dynamic content: Good for SEO?
Yes I think this is better then having thin content, your links if you are lucky enough to get them would amass on the same page. You would probably only rank for the static content, at least over time, but that is probably what you want. I would have access to this page via POST not GET to avoid querystring in the url

PDFs and webpages
Cool. It's advisable to add canonical HTTP headers to the PDFs too, if you can.

This might be a silly question...
Thanks, I'll look at manually specifying these parameters and see if they make an impact.

Anyone heard of Spider Linker?
I'd have to agree with Peter here, this sounds like a very risky option. Google can and will pick up on link networks which most automated link software work from. May work short term but eventually this sort of practice could end in a Google Penalty.

Can you redirect specific sub domain URLs?
"Do you recommend scrapping the subdomain in such an instance and hosting them all in the main domain in a folder?" Yes. "Would that impact on page load and speed?" No. This PDF is a perfect example of why not to do this, but the same can be said for images. Say you create an awesome infographic that people start linking to/sharing, and it's sitting on your subdomain. There goes your SEO benefit, much like you're experiencing with this PDF. If you have the right hosting service, none of this should impact performance. Looking into a CDN will help for sure. I've heard good things about cloud flare, for example.

Bypassing Google, Data Highlighter and Webmaster tools
Hi Cyto, I think the only way you're going to know the answer for sure to this is to try it. Fortunately, the Data Highlighter allows you to markup one page at a time if you want, so I'd suggest choosing a handful of pages and try it on just those first. Measure the results and proceed based on those results. You've probably already considered this, but just thought I'd give it a mention. Cheers, Dana

The Thank you page is indeed the same. It's a URL with a dynamic bit at the end. Hmm, I'll look at whether we can create two different thank you page. Great tip on the 'reverse goal path Thanks
