Hi, There's really no difference in the CSE index and the regular Google index. 301 redirects are the best way to ensure people will find your content and to get Google to update the index ASAP. It's a time consuming process to pair up old/new URLs, but it's really the best option for UX and indexing.

CleverPhD, Well, BCMull didn't mention subfolders in the question, so I am unclear as to whether that is because they decided against that for some reason, or if they did not consider subfolders as an option to begin with. Based on the question only, I would vote for subdomains over independent domains. IMO, whether or not to use subfolders versus subdomains is a business and organizational decision, as well as an information architecture, design, and SEO decision. IOW, I see SEO as part of the larger tradeoffs made in any project. From a purely SEO perspective in terms of link equity, I agree that folders are the way to go and the link equity will bring up the entire brand and site for all dealers. But would folders make sense within the larger picture and their overall business and project goals? I don't know, as I don't know Bcmull's project details and requirements. Link equity is one consideration, but not the only one. -- Jewel

In the Dashboard Overview, there's a timeframe that says weekly. You can change that to monthly. Is that what you were looking for?

1.) Go to your business page on Yelp. 2.) Under Your Business>Activity. This shows a bar graph of the number of visits to your actual business page.  You can view by day or by month. Hope this helps!!!

I think Clicky works fine, but I'm not sure there's much value beyond using Google Analytics especially since Google has come out with Real-Time Analytics now. I liked Clicky since they had the real-time feature before, but that's no longer unique to them. Clicky also calculates bounce rates differently than Google, but I'm not sure that's of real "value." Other than that, I don't see much of a difference or advantage to using Clicky.

Good response Barry. According to GA, some directories perform better than others. We assign a two-tiered cost index (cost per visit vs. cost per action). We obviosuly cull the directories that don't perform well. Most of these are small regional sites that get significant local TV exposure and are quite cheap ($25). The group that makes the cut (see paragraph above) perform quite well. Good point on the no-follow, but many of these probably don't have the sophistication to understand no-follow.

We did some experiments: One website was #1 for certain keyword for one location. Then we created different website for for same industry in different locality. We linked from main website to new website and surprisingly for same keyword the new website did show up on the first page even though it is more difficult locality to grow in. What I'm trying to say if there is new domain perhaps it won't be bad idea to put a link to new website from Main site. Of course it is up to you.

It depends on the purpose of your blog. I recommend on a separate domain if you want to gain shelf space or for reputation management purposes.if you have a site that already has great domain authority and high PageRank, you could use the blog separately to have value on two different domains. However, if your site is fairly new, i recommend to host it within your company's website as Lewis and Barry say, to use those links and help your main domain.

Just because a page is shown as a sitelink under the main listing on the SERPs doesn't mean it can't also appear as a seperate result. A site I look after has the number one ranking for its main keyphrase, has site links and also one of the site links pages is displayed in second place. If the page is not ranking for the desired keyphrase currently then removing it from showing as a sitelink will not mean it will automatically appear as a result in the listing. If this was the case then the strategy for any site with sitelinks would be to minimise the number of sitelinks to maximise the number of other pagespushed into the top 10.
