I can confirm in Incognito mode you are ranked at the bottom of page 1, but only us SEOs use Incognito mode - not your average Google user.

We had a similar problem and no matter what I did I couldn't get the ranking to change constantly.

The strategy I took, was to look at keywords people we're searching for before the 'money' term and get content to meet the searches needs. Less competition usually so rank higher.

Google will rank sites higher where users have visited before and had a good experience, so if you can get people to your site before they know they are looking for wholesale jewellery, when they come to search the terms as well as you ranking higher, you will also have some brand loyalty so more likely to get clicked.

If we still had keyword data in GA we could prove this theory but I get more organic traffic to the page I was trying to improve.

Hope this helps. While you might not improve in Incognito mode - you will get more organic traffic and more sales.

I watched WBF all the time and at different times and never have an issue. What browser are you watching them in and what version - I am guessing this is what the Moz staff are going to ask, so at least they will have this info when they see the question.

You probably all ready do, but I would make sure you have the latest version of the browser you are using - but thats more of a general tip.

No tool is perfect and will find all your back links straight away, even Google doesn't find them immediately, so I use a combination of Moz, Ahrefs, Majestic and Webmaster tools to monitor new links.

It will just be a case of when Moz crawlers, crawl the website you have got a link from.

As Moz is relatively small compared to Google, it cant and probably never will crawl the entire web, so it tends to crawl the more larger sites first and crawls the sites which changes frequently more often.

It all depends what you want from the software.

I use:

Moz, ahrefs, majestic, searchmetrics, rankwatch, SEMRush - I use them all frequently and depending what info / research I am doing use the specific software.

Moz is great and has some wonderful features (including this forum - arguably one of the best on the web), but it does have its flaws - its crawl database is relatively small (but its growing 366 million urls was crawled on its last count).

I am trying to crawl my site and it keeps crashing.

My sys admins keeps upgrading the virtual box it sits on and it now currently has 8GB of memory, but still crashes.

It gets to around 200k pages crawl and dies.

Any tips on how I can crawl my whole site, can u use screaming frog to crawl part of a site.

You could use Search metrics to determine how much the visibility of the site has dropped - it wont to tell you which keywords they were ranking for, but will give a benchmark of where you need to get back to in terms of visibility

Ryan is right, you will have to do some 301s and it will confuse Google for a while so you might see rankings drop even further for a while.

Shame they don't have analytics at least then you could find out the pages which was getting the most traffic.

From an SEO point of view you just want the one page, with all the great content on with clear call to actions. You just want the one page to rank as highly as possible in the SERPs.

However if you are planning on doing an PPC, then I would suggest having your 'Dog Training Tips' page that then leads to a sales page - which is more sales focused. Big call to action, no wastage in terms of distracting information, if your paying for the traffic you want it to convert.

Just Organic: have the one page, but with clear call to action

If you plan on doing PPC: SEO landing page, but then when you click "get more info' (or something similar), it takes you to a second more sales page - which has clear call to actions.

Buy adding in the extra step, you may see a slight decline in Organic C/R, but your PPC C/R will be far higher.

That is what I would do, hope its useful.

I know its been coming for a while, but now there is a fixed date - but he did say it might take a few weeks to fully roll out. Google not giving a straight answer like in most of these hangouts

John Mueller from Google has just confirmed:

Google has just confirmed that mobile friendliness is now a ranking factor for people on smartphones. The date it goes live is 24th April 2015.

There is a great presentation on the hangout - which will be available later to watch and once its available I will update with a link - but I would make sure your checking webmaster tools for any alerts / messages if you care about smartphone users.

What do people recommend, regarding responsive vs mobile site vs dynamic serving.

Is your site ready? What are you planning on doing since the update has been announced.

As DA has a limit of 100, drops aren't always a bad indication and should really be compared against competition. Lets say the competition has dropped from 76 to 61, then in theory you have gained by 7.

Richard is also correct, but you can only really measure DA in comparison as their is a ceiling of 100 - so you can't always keep on improving.

I would start to the DA against the competitors and report that way - rather than just showing how they have dropped.

There is a number of factors including relevancy, but also Page Authority. If sites that are relevant about bananas are linking to your home page, Google might assumed that the home page is the most appropriate page for queries relating to bananas.

Also does your 'bananas' page have many links pointing to it, is it included in your sitemap, do you link to the page from your home page.

Without your actual url its quite hard to be specific for the actual reason.

Will it help, maybe not in the short term - but if you do nothing you are running the risks of being penalised further down the line and losing all your rankings. Thats the worse case, the best case is by removing the old links your rankings increase. I would never really leave bad links, as you will always be looking over your shoulder waiting for Google to strike.

Remove them and then concentrate on getting some quality links to your site to help boost rankings.

With Google you can never really predict anything any more and you won't really know the outcome till you have removed the bad links.

Worse case: you remove the bad links and your rankings don't improve - but your no longer looking over your shoulder waiting to see if you have been hit by the next update.

Best case: You suddenly jump up in the rankings and you no longer care about the next update, you actually look forward to them, to see which off your competition has been hit.

You will probably get neither of these by removing them, you will probably see a little improvement but nothing massive and you won't have to look over your shoulder.

I know I haven't really answered your question - but even if Google was to answer this question, they would only be guessing as they can't 100% accurately say what will happen as its all machine learnt.

How are you measuring the success of the blog, simply using Analytics last click model - if this is the case it won't work, but I am currently writing something on how to set up Analytics to track once a user has visited the blog, then how do they go on to convert, which channels do they come from.

Once you start looking at this, you might actually realise the blog does better than you think. I am almost complete and should have it done by Monday to share with you if you are interested.

With our blog we don't use it as a product focus - more industry news focus, general category focus, relevant content - since changing to this strategy the conversion rate has improved.

So might be worth doing some less product specific articles and more generic articles - this is also good for long tail SEO keywords.

I don't know what resources you have available, and I am not going to say do infographics as this is wrong (too many people churning out infographics when they are not needed), but if you do have some design resources, either make your articles a bit more unique with images, illustrations - but if you do have some good information that works well as an infographic - then create one. These are usually very good for getting links. Don't just create these for the sake of it though.

Explanation articles - help your customers to understand the products you sell, this will lead to more conversions as they can see the benefits.
