You could post a job on a website such as www.peopleperhour.com and www.elance.com and invite applications.

If you're willing to post your link publicly, you could get some free help here...or maybe we could help you anyway. The first questions I'd ask are; is your blog registered on Google Webmaster Tools, and if so, are there any messages regarding a penalty in your account? Do you have many pages with duplicate or little content?

I'd recommend http://www.linkdetox.com/ from Link Research Tools. It pulls in backlink data from 20+ sources to which you can add your own data, and it categorises links based on a risk rating.

I'm in the UK too - they're based in Austria (I think) and the support is always pretty quick to respond (usually within a couple of hours).

I haven't used Link Risk so can't compare, but a colleague tells me it doesn't pick up as much data (and is more expensive).

Edit - to add to Marie's comment, I agree that links should always be reviewed manually whatever tool is used!

I often find searching for the URL directly on Twitter and the Facebook public posts search is the best way to find out.

If you use Google Analytics you could go Acquisition > All Referrals and click on e.g. facebook.com to see a list of referring URLs. "/" (the homepage) will probably be most of the referrals but there might be some group or page URLs in there. Acquisition > Social > Network Referrals is another route.

If you think it's a software error you might be best contacting support directly. Have you checked for similar errors in Google and/or Bing Webmaster Tools?

They are nofollow, but can still be very valuable links, especially if the video goes viral and people want to click to your site. Any non-spammed or non-dodgy-paid link helps to broaden your link profile.

If you have nowhere more appropriate to redirect to I don't see a problem redirecting to the homepage.

I think it depends on your business, but it's not just about promoting yourself and posting endless tweets etc. - you need to build relationships and target the right people - get involved, help people out, comment on how you enjoyed something they posted, if you genuinely did, and if it's relevant to your market.

If you just post everything from your sites to your StumbleUpon profile, for example, why would anyone follow you? If you post other interesting content that's relevant to your websites, with occasional posts to the best content on your websites, then I reckon that's a better tactic.

I like that idea but I'd consider alternatives to Facebook and 302 temporary redirect the article. When the traffic decreases I'd want to remove the redirect so all of those links and shares benefit my own website, and not another website.

Interesting, but like you, I hope they don't make something like this permanent. Increasingly we're being treated like we're stupid and can't do anything for ourselves.

Here in the UK there's no sign of it. I've tried UK specific county names as well as the Georgia then guitars combo originally mentioned, in Chrome and Firefox.

I get all sorts of strange adverts that don't fit my interests or searches at all - for the last two or three weeks I've been getting a Muslim dating website in Ad placements on my work and home PC - both have different Google accounts. I haven't searched for religious terms, dating, or anything at all I can think of that would be related.

It's good to see this is sorted - another option is to check Google's cache for anything else that's missing. It's saved me on a couple of occasions!

Yes, they're different. Stick to one or the other and specify it in a canonical tag.

Google Blog Search is good; you can view related blogs for a keyword and set up alerts. There's a good list here: http://www.searchenginejournal.com/20-essential-blog-directories-to-submit-your-blog-to/5998/

You can also do tag searches for your topics on places like Wordpress.

As mentioned, 301 redirecting the exact old page to the exact same new page is the most important step. Plan ahead and map out your 301 redirects. You want to be sure of what's happening when the domain is transferred to give your rankings and traffic the best chance of remaining intact (or even increasing, which I've seen with some website redesigns).

I think you can change your Twitter handle more than once. If you have a good existing following I'd recommend updating your existing profile to the new handle, and (if possible) re-registering the old Twitter handle at another account - linking in the bio to your new Twitter account. That'll make sure you retain some of the link authority your current Twitter profile has built up and ensure people can still find you through any old links. I think custom Facebook URLs can be changed once.

Another reason for having separate phone numbers is to make sure there's no confusion when people search for your phone number.

They are duplicate content, other than the products. From page 2 onwards, remove all of that content you have below the product results.

Also from page 2 onwards, change the title tags so you have "Page 2", "Page 3" etc. at the beginning - you want the SEO value for the headers here going to your main landing page - the first one. The meta description is the same on each page too, so add the page numbers to that, or remove it altogether for any page other than the main one.

http://www.redwrappings.com.au/products.php?c=australian-made&p=1 and http://www.redwrappings.com.au/australian-made/gift-ideas are showing as the same page, so add a rel=canonical for the latter address on page 1 and/or 301 redirect the former to the latter.

On another note, your meta description for page 1 is WAY TOO long. Get it below 150 characters. There's no point stuffing it with keywords. The aim of that is to get people to click through when they see your site on SERPs.

And on another 'nother note, I'd say this post does have a specific answer, rather than being an ongoing discussion.

When SEOmoz stopped being an SEO consultancy, they passed their business over to Distilled, who are a UK-based company I believe. It might be worth checking them out. I've also had MeasuredSEM recommended to me.

If it's an article or blog post I think it's wise to have them at the start and end of the content. If someone has read and enjoyed the article, they're more likely to click the share icons if they're there when they've finished, rather than scrolling back to the top.

I'm not an expert on this, but I know the 100 links thing doesn't matter anywhere near as much as it used to, or I'm not sure if it ever did in terms of being penalised. I think it was just a guideline that said if a page had more than 100 links, Google might not crawl them all, or PageRank might not be passed to anything over the 101st link...something like that. Google's crawling is a lot more sophisticated now, so as long as your site doesn't look like a link-farm I think you'll be fine.

I see the value of associating anchor text with content links rather than navigation, but I agree with EGOL more than Ryan on this one. What if users are viewing the site with CSS disabled? Maybe because it's easier to view with a screen reader for blind/partially sighted people - it's not very user-friendly having the main navigation links only at the bottom is it?
