I just did a few tests on a few sites of mine,

1. a new domainname, no results

2. an old domain and i got results.

So maybe its somthing that takes time, is your sirte new?

Then of cause you would need to use a server side solution, this is quite simple in therory, all you need to do is get the severvariable HTTP_USER_AGENT to detect the browser, but then there would be a lot of different serveragenst to detect and more in the future. It would also be a pain having to generate html via server script for every page. I tried doing that for Netscape 2 and IE2 but gave up, it was too much work. Back in those days the way of doing things in browsers was completely different untill IE won out.

I think the eay i was saying is much easier, and there is no missing html, its all used on both versions just positioned different.

I have a few examples. i used the tag in the head section of the html.
Along with Media css see below. you slip this css into your normal css sheet, and give an alternitive css inside for phones,
if you look at one of my sites http://perthseocompany.com.au/ i have done like this you will notice that when the screen size goes below 850px it then takes on the alternative css. One of the main things you will want to do is make sections of your website line up verticly under the alternitive. You can do this by using float left and float right in normal site and float none in alternative css.
I do not have my site perfect because i have not yet had the time. but you get the general idea by playing with browser width.
Note the max-width: 850px in css, this is the width at witch the css changes

you mean one page 2 urls. then put the tag in the one page, point to the one original url

Yes, I would fix every thing that is or could be a problem, it is hard to rank, and you dont weant anything working aginst you.

3 things you could do, in order or preference

1. Correct urls to be the same

2. 301 1 to the other

3 canonical tag one to the other.

I want to make sure you understand how to make the canonical tags. you need to decided what url is tyhe original.(that would be the shorter of the 2) then the other page should have a canonical tag pointing to the original

I am pretty well pro Microsoft. But i do truly believe bing a better search engine. Better Results, less junk. Better WMT, and i always rank better in bing. I would like to see a comparison on ranking factors, but i believe bing likes clean code sites.

I am also suprised how few a people on this group are hosted on windows servers or have sites built in Microsoft technologies. Is it the Moz in SeoMoz that attacts mozilla people?

any one know how much Premium Analtytics will cost, I read an article that it can cost up to $10,000 a month others suggest $150,000 a year. I hope Microsoft bring out a free analytics

The link worked, i read the article, it just gave me a chance to vent my speen about search term changes.

I am really losing faith in google, google adds has generated vast amount of useless sites full of google adds after ppc. They have become too powerfull and bossy.

Is this desiged to get peopel to pay for premium analytics? i much prefer Bing as a search engine,

Lets hope that Bing gains enouth market share to make google respect the users a bit more.

citykeyword.com is best for quick results, a new domain can rank quicly, but as time go on the advatage is dimished when you build up other signals.

but citykeyword.domain.com keeps the link juice in your site. As long as your subdomnains are well linked to the root domain google will see it as the same site.

I have notived that Google now somtimes changes your search term without asking. In stead of simply suggesting did you mean blah blah, it just changes your search. I have a site that becomes unfindable becauce of this. It seems very rude. This also make a mockery of statistics

I think that was a very general comment, as some pages are crawled very rarly, as for passing pr and signals, it has been confirmed by Matt Cutts that 301's leak goodness

City domain names is a good idea, but as you say, you will be splitting you efforts, so I say no. city landing pages is a better idea, try and get the city into your link text when you get links, local directories also will help

You also have a lot of on page issues, you have a lot of images with out alt text, I mean a lot, there is a good chance to put some city names, you also have a lot of non relevant link text, “click here” I would definitely fix them

You also have a lot of soft 404s, missing pages, or in your case mostly images that give a 200 instead of a 404. this is not helping, google has made a point about this recenly

Your code includes a lot of noise to content ratio, lots of script, flash and  stuff, search engines like clean code.
How I see it a site with many violations needs many more links to rank than one that is violation free.

Yes i do, some will argue that each pages stands on its own, but relevancy plays a major part, you wan to be in a relevant link neighborhood, both external and internal

I lookled in the US google index and they did not come up inthe top 100 for patio furniture.

Are you loged into google when you do your searches, is web history enbaled?

i would give it another 2 weeks at least, but as i suggested, it may not get back to where it was as a 301 is not as fgood as a direct link

Yes, OSE is due for a update any day now, so you may have to wait another month if you only added a day or so ago.

Yes it would, but when you say traffic, do you mean links, if you have links to those pages, yopu may want to replace them with more relevant content or maybe 301 them, dont waste the links, even if they are not relevant.

I guess the question is why would you think they would not?

Yes i have done this a few times, and i suggest at least a month or more. 301's do not pass all goodness to the new page they leak a little each time. If you had 301's on the old site already you may of lost them or they maybe double hoping.

Is the old domain name still in search resulst?
