Here's an idea. Since you live in paradise, get a professional photographer to take pictures of paradise for your blog posts. Who doesn't like to link to gorgeous pictures of paradise?
Add captions to the photos with relevant text explaining where the photo was taken, etc, etc.

RE: Questions about reorganizing a website's content structure
Splitting content off to separate domains is not a 100% no-no. I would only do it if the content is targeted to significantly different market or user segments, though.

RE: Help Website Plumetting :(
I did a quick overview of your backlinks. You're not doing too badly on having a natural mix of anchor texts, but it looks to me like maybe you've relied too much on blog comments and forum sig links on websites that aren't topically relevant to your website. That would be my theory, anyways.

RE: Sudden drop in rankings
Hi Kat,
I would continue to educate the client on why having the site setup like that is a huge barrier to success.

Here are some resources on building links that won't get bitten by Penguin:

Hope that helps!

RE: Should "white label" sites have a unique template
Why would you want them to have unique IP addresses? Are you trying to get Google to treat them as unrelated sites? If so, keep in mind that separate IP addresses isn't enough. Google has other ways of figuring out whether sites are owned by the same entity.
-
RE: What is the best: one big site or several small ones?
Yes, you want to be careful.
Keep in mind that having your websites on different IPs isn't enough to trick Google. They can also look at domain registrar info, contact info, linking patterns, etc to figure out that the same person owns the sites.

"WordPress should be hosted on a managed WordPress host in my opinion"
I don't think you can host your WP blog on a separate host and still have it be a subfolder of your main domain, can you?
P.S. Thanks for the kind words.

RE: Recovery from Penguin removing internal urls permanently replace with new
If those pages have mostly bad links pointing to them (i.e. you won't be losing any good links) I'd say go for it - it's worth a try and very well may help!

RE: Sudden drop in rankings
Hi Kat,
You may have been hit in the Penguin update on Oct 5th.
-
Your site is definitely way "over-optimized" or keyword stuffed. The keyword "Modelling" appears 77 times on your homepage, plus 4 times in the page title. Your internal links structure is also keyword stuffed.
-
Having the page content under the huge big call to action and form on top of the site is not good for users or search engine rankings.
-
A quick check of your backlinks shows they are mostly keyword anchor text links from directories and other lower quality sources.
To be honest, it looks to me like you're headed in the wrong direction SEO-wise and have likely been hit by one or more algorithmic penalties.
Sorry to be so negative.

Hope this helps!

RE: Google Plus account - Should I use Brand or Product Type
Definitely go with "Smith Computers" if that is your company name. Using your keyword as your page name looks spammy and I think it is in violation for the TOS, which could result to your page being terminated.
If you wanted, you could go for options 3 or 4 as a compromise.

RE: Cnnonical Issue! Plz Help
I'm not sure I fully understand your query, but there is a specific markup you can use for pagination: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2011/09/pagination-with-relnext-and-relprev.html

RE: Rank Tracking results
It is because Google has ranked http://www.wimmobiliere.com but you have set SEOmoz to check rankings for the exact URL http://wimmobiliere.com (without www).

RE: Should "white label" sites have a unique template
Could you explain what these sites will be and what their purpose is? How many of them will there be?
-
RE: What is the best: one big site or several small ones?
No, I would not be trying to get Google to think your sites are unrelated. I would accept that Google will realize my sites are related and may factor that into evaluating any links between them.

RE: Setting up a Blog for an e-commerce site
Hi Nic,
That's a pretty broad question, but here are a few basic suggestions:
- Unless you really want to manage your blog in Magento, I would setup your blog using WordPress. All the features and plugins you'll need, plus plenty of community support, and it's easy to use.
- Focus on publishing great content, SEO, social, and building an audience.
- Install Google Analytics.
- Make sure you have Facebook like button, Tweet this, and Google +1 on each post.
- Install the All In One or Yoast SEO plugin for WordPress.
- Publish great content and promote it.

Directory submissions are good, IF you're submitting to good quality directories. See:

RE: My DA has gone down by 3?
I wouldn't necessarily worry about it, unless you have other reasons to believe something has gone wrong. SEOmoz's index fluctuates from month to month, so it's possible that a few of your good links didn't get indexed in the most recent index.
FYI, a link from http://chime.in/ doesn't count as a PR8 link, unless you got a link on the homepage, which is PR8. You have to count the pagerank of the actual page that has your link. Also, I think the links in Chime are nofollow, so they don't count at all.

RE: Help Website Plumetting :(
Were you hit by Panda, by Penguin, or by both?
What is your site URL?
-
RE: What is the best: one big site or several small ones?
I'd say one site per market.

So if your content is about 5 different types of sport cars, make 1 big site.
If your content is about sports cars and printers and fishing, make 3 sites.

RE: Trouble with https
I have never done SEO on an https page, but there are quite a few https pages that rank well. Here are some more notes: http://www.seomoz.org/ugc/seo-for-https-with-s-like-secure
