I've seen it a few times where you should have less then 100 links per page to help crawling unless your a massively authoritative website.

But what happens when your a large ecommerce website with categories and sub categories, you could have a category called 'computers' with a drop down list containing lots of sub cat links.

Whats the solution to this?

To be honest id most likely go for just runyoursocksoff.com and try my best to SEO for the term with out keyword sub domains or folders.

I imagine someone with your experience Ryan you would do the same and I kind of hope even if the emd was available you would still go for runyoursocksoff.com anyway to build a brand knowing your knowledge is good enough to rank a term without the aid of a emd.

A lot of talk about EMD's lately not just here but all over SEO and affiliate forums.

I've dabbled in emd's but have decided to go against the grain and use a non emd. I think I can optimise hard enough to rank and at the same time build a brand, which is where most emd's fail.

But my question is this:

If you are targeting lets say the term 'running trainers' and the domain is runyoursocksoff.com would it be more beneficial to rewrite the root domain to this:

runyoursocksoff.com/running-trainers/

It does look messy to me and more then likely I would not use this but I have seen it a few times and was wondering if its a work around for non emd's.

301 is a redirect so if you change the url you 301 redirect it to the new url in case links have been built to the old url.

rel canonical is a tag that tells Google this page has similar content to another page to help duplicate content issues, usually used on re-ordering functionality and paging.

I personally would put them above the page fold to gain more exposure for the action.

The more likes, tweets the better. You could find your get a few more sales through this along with generating some good social signals for SEO.

I have seen a light box containing social tools after a call to action has been clicked like a order now button.

What country is the products/services aimed at? If the UK then I would recommend affiliate window currently the largest in Europe.

Do remember most affiliates will use lots of methods to stop Google from passing any link juice because most affiliate websites are built up of links point out. So things like nofollow on every merchant link, url re-writes with a directory folder which might say 'jump' or 'out' then block this directory in the robots.txt file, along with whatever else they have going on, if you visit a voucher code website almost all of them use the above method.

Maybe this could help, the last box allows you to put a list of words and then generate every combo available.

mmm I know of both these methods and they kind of lean into the dark arts if you know what I mean.

The first one I would not do purely because I would be worried I had not spun the article enough but its till a known method just not for me.

Second one is interesting because I have heard pros and cons on link wheels, I have to admit mostly bad but some good.

If you had 10 articles which are unqiue and around 400 - 600 words what would you do with them?

I personally would more then likely put on squidoo, wordpress, blogger, weebly, hub pages etc and orientate the setup of these around my target keyword so the title tags, urls, h1's and content are around the term and then place anchor text links (2 of them) in the content of each one.

I would then social bookmark each on the top 10 sites.

Because it takes so long for me to write the content I sometimes think would it be best to put on the onsite blog.

What would others do with this content, is there something else I could do with it that would have a great impact on rankings?

Ok, im not completely clued up on the microdata front, from what I read it helps to break things up a little so indicate product titles, images, links etc.

So im guessing your saying use microdata on the breadcrumb attributes but I didnt think Google would rank for a term without it being in the title.

So 'cheap size 9 work shoes' would not show my result unless it existed in the title tag but if your saying yes you can im guessing it would not rank anywhere near as well as it being in the title tag.

In the below example, which one do you think would work best if any.

The website is called greatshoes.co.uk (fictitious)

The category is 'work shoes'

and a page under this cat is lets say 'Size 9 work shoes'

I tend to build my title tags like this:

size 9 work shoes, cheap size 9 work shoes | greatshoes.co.uk

BUT I have read on here it should be more like this:

size 9 work shoes < work shoes | greatshoes.co.uk

Does anyone think it would make a difference when targeting for the term 'size 9 work shoes' which title tag I use.
