How would one manipulate DA/PA?

Is Splashpress media a big company? They have maybe 5-6 websites I know of which are all DA:Sweet, I have also noticed their social following on most of the sites are really good, so either they know what they are doing when it comes to online marketing or it's manipulated using something like 'twiends'.

Would all of Splashpress websites be worth getting on then?

What do you think of this website for guest posting - www.forevergeek.com

Now to me I would quite happily give up a guest post to this website, and the reason behind this would be...

DA:63

PA:67

MR:5.6

MT:5.8

And lots of social sharing per post and to me this would be a perfect site to get some exposure on, looks ok as well.

BUT the only thing which would put some doubt in my mind is the PR2, I would assume a site with DA:63 would have a PR4/5.

What are your thoughts on this?

If your a Google+ wizard and do everything right, so optimise your profile, pick up 1000's of followers, followers engage with your posts by adding a comment or a plus, followers are even going to your website and sharing content using the Google plus button etc.

What kind of effect would this have on your SEO? Would this kind of activity improve your Auth?

Side question: Forget the above, what movement would you expect if one of your pages received 1000 plus's from real users, would you expect to see a jump in SERP's

I know every website is different, im just looking to see what I could expect if the work was put in to achieve the above.

You could find a PR wire which doesn't produce a backlink, far as I know they use to sell the service through the SEO benefit, saying you can even have a link or 2 in the body content, well just don't include them or at the end of the article include a text link which isn't actually a active link.

Broad will be default, once you add the keyword, you can click on the keyword at keyword level and change it's match type.

Broad match will show anything Google feels is relevant to your broad keyword.

You can use a + sign at the front of the words which must come up in the query, so for example if I had - +Cheap Red +Flowers.

Both words Cheap & Flowers must be in the query in any order so you could come up for - Cheap Flowers, Cheap Red Flowers, Cheap Flowers For Sale etc.

Once your campaign has been running for a few days, you can enter the search query report and view the keywords being generated off broad match keywords and either add them into the campaign or negative them out so they don't show again - This tab would be at keyword level then go -> keyword details -> all

Bit of a different subject really to the usual SEO chat but as most of you know UX/CRO fits in nicely with SEO.

For those of you who know about directional cues, what are your experiences with them, what types of directional cues worked best for you? And has anyone had any positive experiences with cues and social buttons?

So if someone linked to a page with a querystring Google wouldn't index that page because the canonical tag is pointing to a url which doesn't have that query in?

I like the scraped part as well, that in itself makes it worth while.

Why would a website (and I have seen tons doing this) link the rel canonical tag back to the same page the tag is on?

Example: somepage.htm has a canonical tag linking to somepage.htm

I thought the idea of this tag was to tell google if 2 pages are similar, this page is the original, and it's this page which should be indexed and the page with the tag on should pass all PR to the original.

Maybe im wrong and someone can help me out to understand this.

Looks like shares are still top of the list then, also seem to be one of the hardest to gain.

I personally from what I have read believe the share button to be more powerful when it comes to SEO but I don't know for a fact so anyone have any input on this subject?

One thing I do know, is it's a lot harder to gain a 'Share' then a 'Like' and im talking about these buttons being onsite maybe in a blog post.

If you gained 100 shares and 100 likes which one would generate the best signals?

Thing that gets me is 5 guest posts on DA:30+ - you would expect some movement but maybe your right, maybe the websites are just not strong enough to produce movement.

So in your example, you believe from the homepage would have a slight benefit over an inner page when it comes to ranking?

Lets say you do a guest post, Google indexes the article which must mean it has found the link back.

Would you expect to see movement straight away?

Some of my latest guest posts (in the last week) have been indexed but have shown no movement at all, but when I check WMT for links coming in they are not in the list so im guessing they have not taken full effect?

When you say 'stick to one keyword per page until you start ranking for it' are you talking about only on-page copy or all the SEO?

For example if you launch a new page targeting the term 'cheap red paint' but would like to rank for 'cheap red paint' AND 'red paint' are you saying really you should only focus on one term as a starter?

Basically, can you explain on 'stick to one keyword per page until you start ranking for it' and what you mean by it.

How beneficial is properly optimised text on your website?

I have been reading copy blogger and they seem to think it's almost the foundations and can have a massive impact -  thus their software for improving optimised text.

So... The way I see it, content can fit into 3 areas:

1. Over optimised - keyword stuffed

2. Produced without the keyword in mind and then small changes, maybe the keyword used once or twice within 500 words, slotted into the h1 tag.

3. Optimised - At the front of the h1 tag, density of roughly 3-4%, emphasised with bold and italic.

What kind of impact can number 3 really have on rankings? If your position 7/8 could it be possible to see position movement from content changes?

But what I mean is if you forget about links for a moment, lets just say the website has no links coming in.

Does Google think your target term is more important if it's in the homepage title tag rather then an inner page title tag?

You could think if a website has this term on it's root domain it must be one of, if not the most important term this website wants to rank for.

Question,

Lets say a new domain is launched, the root domain and an inner page target the same term.

Google comes along for the first time and indexes the website.

Does it see the target term on the homepage as more important then the inner page because you are putting it on the root?

I get the feeling terms connected directly with the root domain have a better chance of ranking then the term being on a inner page.

Any thoughts on this?

See I do as the others, if it's relevant and it's free I will submit but I don't spend hours looking for directories and I don't pay for listings either.

For example botw.org, they are charging $150 / $200 for a listing - I would rather have 15 / 20 unique articles created for guest blogging then the listing.

1 link on botw or 15+ links from 15 different relevant blogs.

Well that's how I look at it anyway.
