SEO Links in Footer?
Over the years Google has drastically devalued the SEO impact of Footer links, however, we have seen them generate a benefit in the form of referral traffic. I would be careful with having Exact Keywords in the footer links though, could seem spammy as you pointed out.

We are ranking for unexpected industry keywords; not for the main keywords. What might be wrong?
My initial thought is Google does see your website as authoritative, which is why you are ranking for some of the "secondary keywords", but you are getting outranked on the "top keywords" due to the competition being more optimized. I would look into the links that the outranking competitor websites/articles have that you do not to see if you can duplicate any, and then revisit your page's on-site SEO. So In addition to the link profiles, check the higher ranking competitors pages total content length, H2s, H1, Meta Title and different types of content (videos, images, embeds, etc) to see if this gives any clues to why Google is ranking them higher for your top keywords.

Title Tag Change - Drop in Organic Placement?
Wow, thank you all for your insights. I really appreciate the feedback. I have not been removing the primary key phrase the page is optimized for. However I have removed the business name which also is a key phrase. For years my title tag formula was “key phrase | business name” ie. Las Vegas Wedding Chapels | Vegas Weddings. Using this example what I’ve done is kept Las Vegas wedding chapels dropped the post ( | ) and Vegas Weddings (business name) to utilize those extra character spaces for a more enticing title tag to increase click through rate. In some cases I may have dropped the Las in Las Vegas to also create more space. Questions: 1. Any additional feedback with this new information? 2. What do you think about the potential for google seeing the initial formula as keyword stuffing even though it is the business name? Vegas Weddings happens to be one of the most searched keyphrases. I am not certain that the average positions actually dropped as a result of these changes. It may have been related to a big misfortune we had with google my business listings earlier this year. I will look even deeper into this to see if i can make more precise conclusions from the statistics. Either way all this information is highly valued. While Im on that topic, does anyone actually know if the search console/google analytics average position stat does or does not factor in the organic placement within google my business? Thank you all so so much!

Follow/NoFollow?
Hi there, When it comes to internationalization, there is a simple solution for google search: use hreflang tags. Here what they say: Internationalization and multi-language websites - google search help. Hoping that you have different URL for each store and that you've places hreflang tags correctly, you should not be worrying that much. OF course, you have to check rankings, traffic and other metrics that are important to you. Referring to placing nofollow tags, this won't make any difference in this case. Keep in mind that nofollow tags are there to tell google not to look what's there on the links; to not crawl (follow) them. Here more information from Google about nofollow attribute. Hope it helps. Best luck. Gaston

Domain migration via Wordpress - organic still 60% down four months later
Hello Matt, As mentioned, it will take time for Google to crawl the old site's URLs, de-index them and transfer the rank to the new site. That process should take a few months to complete, so all you can do is wait. Trying to manually request crawling through the search console can speed up the process a little but in the end, it will still take its time. As to why the new articles aren't ranking, the issue should be looked over individually to your site, as there are many factors that contribute to a post ranking higher or lower in the SERPs. Feel free to contact me if you need an analysis and possible solutions for the issue. Daniel Rika - Dalerio Consulting https://dalerioconsulting.com/ info@dalerioconsulting.com

Why my logo is showing in map pack results
Very helpful, Daniel, and congrats on the good ranking! Here is what I would do to try to jog Google: Remove the logo image from the dashboard Upload 5 new high quality images to the dashboard, choosing one as the profile image. Google just wasn't showing me very many photos for this business and I think you should take away what you don't want and give them more to choose from among photos that you do want. Give that a shot. The change could be immediate or could take a few days. If you try this experiment, please follow up here if you can to let me know what happens.

How is it possible to rank first for a keyword, when the keyword isn't written on the page?
They probably use it in their Meta Title and have enough LSI keywords or related keywords that Google clearly correlates them with the keyword you are searching for. Also, I bet they have a good amount of quality inbound links and possibly some internal or external ones pointing to the ranking page that have part of or all of the keywords in them. I would try and evaluate why Google thinks this is the best result in terms of quality and content depth, not simply if they have the exact keyword in the page copy or not.

How to update Schema markup code to all pages of my website ?
I believe there is a way to do a "Find & Replace" function within Wordpress or your HT Access. I would highly recommend working with an experienced website developer for this. If you have any additional Schema in the of your website, updating it within the should update it sitewide automatically.

Robots.txt blocked internal resources Wordpress
Thanks for the answer! Last question: is /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php an important part that has to be crawled? I found this explanation: https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/190993/why-use-admin-ajax-php-and-how-does-it-work/191073#191073 However, on this specific website there is no html at all when I check the source code, only one line with 0 on it.

Website redesign- change of server . What to do with old site? Keep for a while or delete right away?
Keep it for a short-time in case something was overlooked. I also like to keep the 301's in place for the reason that there maybe an external site linking to the .html pages. If the 301's are not in place, these links will 404. Good luck!

Too many links pointing to our privacy policy page: Hurting our ranking efforts of main pages?
I'd at least give it a try and see what happens, if it turns out that your hypothesis is wrong you can always un-disavow the links. When you upload a txt file to the disavow tool, it counts that as your total disavow efforts (so if you just upload a txt file containing these links you have spotted, you may lose previous disavow work). Be sure to download your existing disavow file so you can add to it, instead of just uploading the links you have found A side-effect of this though, is that later you could upload your disavow again excluding those links and un-disavow them. Before you do anything, you'd want to evaluate the technical features of those links. If they are all no-followed, they won't count towards Google's rankings anyway, so no action would be required (on your part) Usually speaking, I would suggest making your homepage more link-worthy so that it gains more backlinks over time. Since this case is so extreme, you might actually want to consider disavow (or getting those links no-followed). Followed site-wide links can negatively affect rankings, under certain circumstances
