  • heheh well I'd love that 47 not found could be "lots" by the way, where are thos links coming from? What you have to bear in mind is that it's not the same if the 404 is caused by internal or external linking. If internal, then you have to see which page is creating the 404 and fix it If external you have to ask the webmaster for fixing the link and meanwhile have the 301 in place so you can save the value of those links..

  • Thanks for the responses.  Yes, we are worried about too much interlinking and that being seen as manipulative. I do think we're leaning towards a completely separate domain.  I'll just have to be careful with the links.

  • Hi McShane, You can try www.myconversionbrain.com It does exactly that so that you can know which leads came from which keyword, adgroup, campaign. It also tracks which display partner or remarketing site generated the lead. Basically it tracks down all the source traffic (Google organic, Bing, Yahoo, Facebook, referring links etc) for all the leads that you get automatically. It tracks which page the user submitted the inquiry and also the pages that he browsed before and after inquiry... Plus it helps managing your leads so you can see which keyword delivered the best ROI and which ones waste your money. So you can see the status of the lead from the initial stage of the closing. You can also keep track of all your leads quicker and easier than email programs so that your leads are properly cared for and not being wasted. You can add sales people and much more... It also does other cool things like notifying you immediately once your leads come back to your website again or specific and important pages on your site (your choice). If you want a free free demo (10-15 min) let me know and I would be happy to show you using screenshare. Cheers Johan Hedin

  • If I link to your website with the link text "SEO Moz" you can then rank for the term "SEO Moz" without having it on your site.

  • Hey John, To be in "google finance", it takes a bit time and the authority of your site matters a lot. Usually if your site is already in Google news, there are high chances that it will pick up in the finance section itself. I'd suggest you to look at this offical google forum link for detailed information: https://productforums.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!category-topic/news/google-news-publishers/AG5lYhTztys Good luck!

  • I do now see where he did also claim visa versa that using originals wont help either. why would matt or rand mention it? they don't work for google they will not know everything. But he also said to the best of his knowledge, at that time, and that in the future that may change and it was 2 years ago. So I would still try to get original images if you can.

  • Hi there Have you checked in Search Console to see if you have a manual action? That will tell you right away if you have been penalized or if you have any major site issues. I would take a look at your backlinks - I see some directories and questionable links in Majestic. Also, when I checked SEMRush, I can see a pretty significant dip (attached) in May 2012, which was around the time that Penguin 1.1 hit. I would also take a look at your on-site SEO, especially with your information architecture. Right now, a lot your site architecture is flat, meaning everything lives off the root domain. Run through your site's metrics, including Domain Authority, and see what opportunities you have in improvement. Take a look at your content and take an empathetic stance with your audience - if you were a user or customer, what would you want to see? Does that line up with your research? Take a look at the Academy section as well for Moz - lots of opportunities! Also, try doing some competitive analysis to see if you are missing opportunities that your competition is taking advantage of! Hope this all helps! Good luck to you! y1MgxWJ

  • Hi there I would do the following - check your internal links, check your sitemap, and create a custom 404 page. You're going to want to make sure that you're not linking to these pages through your links and sitemap, and you're going to want to make sure that users have a way to navigate out of 404 pages or find what they are looking for. I agree Mark that if there is a relevant page for those pages to be redirected to (category page or content relevant to it), then see what opportunities you have there. Keep in mind that if you can find patterns in the URL structure, you have the opportunity to block these pages with your robots.txt. I would be careful, however, because this could easily backfire if you don't know what you are doing. Remember - Google in Search Console puts these errors in priority order, so run through those, see what kind of pages they are, where they live, and look at the resources above to see what kind of opportunities that you have to remedy the issue. Hope this helps! Good luck!

  • Patrick is on the money here, when you say you are getting links, did you go out and get them or are they natural. I don't think google is interested in 99% of any link you can go out and get yourself. And those that appear naturally are also 99% crap. You can get good sites to link to you but it is not easy, and you may get good sites to link to you naturally over time. IMO you are better off spending time in making sure your sites crawls perfectly, making sure you have good content, and describing your site to google using structured data. If your site is a good result for your keywords click data alone can do wonders for ranking

  • To the point Egol I am not sure how google see the relevance, but getting a link from a relevant business that is not in the business of giving out links is a good link.
