No incoming links from DMOZ in my report
Hello Olga! Open Site Explorer pulls from our Mozscape index, which updates about once a month. You can always check our update schedule whenever you like! Most new sites and links will be indexed by our spiders and available in Mozscape and Open Site Explorer within 60 days, but some take even longer for a variety of reasons, including the crawl-ability of sites, the amount of inbound links to them, and the depth of pages in subdirectories. Just so you know, here's how we compile our index: We grab the most recent index We take the top 10 billion URLs with the highest MozRank (with a fixed limit on some of the larger domains) We start crawling from the top down until we've crawled 180,000,000,000 pages (which is about 35% the amount in Google's index) Therefore, if the site is not linked to by one of these seed URLs (or one of the URLs linked to by them in the next update), then it won't show up in our index. We update our Mozscape Index every 4 weeks. Crawling the entire Internet to look for links takes 2-3 weeks, but our crawlers are always collecting data. When we need to put the index together, we grab all the data they have collected and start processing, which can take up to 3 weeks to determine which of those links are the most important. Mozscape focuses on a breadth-first approach. This means that we almost always have content from the homepage of websites, externally linked-to pages, and pages higher up in a site's information hierarchy. But deep pages that are buried beneath many layers of navigation are sometimes missed and it may be several index updates until we catch all of these. If our crawlers or data sources are blocked from reaching those URLs, they may not be included in our index (though links that point to those pages will still be available). Finally, the URLs seen by Mozscape must be linked to by other documents on the web, or our index will not include them. I hope this information helps! While the site and links may not be indexed yet, give it some time Thanks! Kevin Help Team

Apple has recently disabled all third parties cookies in all safari browser either ipad, iphone or desktop
Hi I still only have version 8 so I can't test it, but my GA is showing data for version 9 with sales. I have also checked that these aren't Paypal orders. Once I get version 9 I will test, but our visitors are currently able to checkout. Thanks Andy

Why isn't our new site being indexed?
Hey Dirk, No worries - I visited the question first time today and considered it unanswered as the site is perfectly accessible in California. I like to confirm what Search Console says as that is 'straight from the horses mouth'. Thanks for confirming that the IP redirect has changed, that is interesting. It is impossible for us to know when that happened - I would have expected thing to get indexed quite fast when it changed. With the extra info I'm happy to mark this as answered, but would be good to hear from the OP. Best, -Tom

Removing extension
Hey Paul, What is the main reason of removing the extension? If you already have SEO+user friendly link structure and getting good organic traffic, I don't think you should mess around with anything. As this .php is really better than scary dynamic codes in URLs. The thing is, this change can cause you a massive traffic and ranking drop. If you can take that risk, all you have to do is to make redirection of every link and update your sitemaps. And when you're doing this, make sure to launch aggressive campaigns to maintain the flow of traffic. Hope this helps! Umar

A good ranking Tool to generate reports for multiple markets
Hello, my friend. I got 25 campaigns at the moment and yes, I have to spend time every month to manually do the reports. I'm not aware of suite of tools which can suggest the same services as MOZ does + multiple campaigns reports, but try this: http://bfy.tw/1ghR

Detected duplicate content with canonical applied
Hi there! It's definitely possible for a page to be correctly flagged as duplicate content while a canonical tag is applied. This typically happens in cases where the pages are being seen as duplicates of each other, but are canonicalized to different pages. If you'd like to see a more specific example of where this is occurring on your site, I'd be happy to talk through it with you through a private message to help@moz.com :). I hope this helps to explain!

Panda penalty removal advice
Our site was scraped by a past empoyee who started up a competing buisness with our inside trade secrets, client list and designs. As they launched they immediately tried to put us out of buisness by: A. hired hacks to hook us up with tons of spammy links along with a high mix of porn and virus injections sites. B. hired hacks from the same cesspool and had them submit our images to same bad types of sites that would take the customer somewhere else C. signed up email address to our newseltter so that when we sent out an email it would initiate a chain reaction to zombie computers and launch a DDOS attack on our site and make our own email campaigns stop sales and trash the confidence in the rest of the customers on the mailing list. D. Gave out every know email address in our company to spammers, to the point of making it difficult to get or send emails to customers. E. Submitted our phone number to every robot call and junk call site possible tieing up our phones and filling our voice mail. "Regarding Panda timing- the site took the big hit three years ago." We to had this exact timing happen to us on top of everything else because we were too busy defending ourselves to keep up with the Google changes. Regardless of all the horrifying past events, we have completely rebuilt the business from the inside out and migrated to a BigCommerce website from our custom site, plus added 5 social media platforms. BUT..."having to wait for Google" to reindex and give us another chance is killing us and we are concern that we may never get back in the good graces of this SE titian. All though we have survived the battle, we still may loose the war! Even with continuing efforts to optimize our site to death and with only a fraction of the traffic, orders and income, we have to wonder: A. What else is wrong such as trying to determine if there are duplicate content on sites out their we are unaware of. B. Seriously considering dumping our domain (owned since 2000) and going to a new domain that would have to be reindexed and treated as fresh, hopefully optimzed content per the Google requirements, and take our chances. Input on considerations of A & B would be appreciated as we are pretty worn out after 3 years working at this.

Is writing good content the best SEO?
Thanks for sharing. This is an interesting case for me. On one hand by writing technical no keyword content he likely drew a lot of technical links to the site due to depth. Links from high authoritative sites like Colleges and Government sites. On the other hand it may have limited appeal to the general population due to the technical nitty gritty, where they just want to know if "X" firm handle said type of cases and what kind of cost is associated with it. But I could also see how more important high profile clients may find the technical stuff more important as cost is less of an issue. All and all this was a good read. Thank you, Don

Google updates... keeping with times?
Unfortunately, the short answer is that we rarely know ahead of time. When I first envisioned MozCast, my hope was that we had a chance (even if a slim chance) of predicting updates, but there's a simple and obvious reality I overlooked. Google isn't a system of natural laws, spinning on its merry way. Google is being reprogrammed daily, and past updates are no indication of future patterns. We can look to their intent and goals, and make educated guesses, but none of us can say that on October 14, 2015, there will be Update X. On rare occasion, like the Mobile-friendly Update, Google will make an announcement. Usually, you can find those on the Google Webmaster Central blog: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/ In other cases, a member of the Search Quality team may drop a hint on social media. With 600+ changes per year, though, those pre-announcements are the rare exception.
