Pausing a site - how to do this with minimum damage to SEO for period of pause
That's a good idea - you could even display a banner ad that pops up anytime a user accesses the site "Shipping on all products delayed x weeks due to global pandemic". I think people would be pretty understanding.

Does creating too many parent pages damage my website's SEO?
What do you mean by parent pages? Content that is necessary for users is of use to Google as well. You'd be surprised how much traffic "unimportant" pages bring you because your customers are looking for them! If you can explain some more, I can try to help.

Should internal links in my table of contents be tagged as nofollow?
Thanks Martijn. I am indeed referring to heading links with an anchor #. Just to confirm, these should not be tagged with nofollow? I'll take your advice and not fuss too much about the number of links. I just realised that it's also counting all 15 of my blog post sharing links. Anyway, I'm just perplexed at why these plugins even add the ability to make table of content links no follow and add tag if it would hurt SEO. They've even placed these settings under an SEO title. Do you think they know something we don't? screenshot-11.png

Https://www.fitness-china.com/hip-thrust-machine title too long
Hi there, Having a title a little over the number of characters (pixels to be specific) that Google Searches allocates on their SERPs, might cause your title to be cut. Currently, on this page, your title is being cut. From: _Hip Thrust Machine for Sale, Buy Glute Bridge Machine Online | Ntaifitness_to Hip Thrust Machine for Sale, Buy Glute Bridge Machine Online ... Take a look at the image I've attached. My suggestion is that you decrease the number of characters that you are using on your titles. Probably by removing your brand or one of your keywords. Before submitting your changes to production and waiting to see on an actual Google SERP how it looks like, you can use tools like this one: Google SERP simulator. Try the every combination that suits you and your pages. Hope it helps. Best of luck. eJrcA8W

False Soft 404s, Shadow Bans, and Old User Generated Content
I solved most of the Soft 404s. I just had to change the URLs, submit a sitemap with the new URLs, and redirect the old URLs to the new ones. This impacted 85 URLs and as of now 60 are back in Google while the others are listed as discovered, but currently not indexed. I also added this HTML sitemap just for those URLs so that they are not orphaned. I am still puzzled by the initial Soft 404 status' however. The new URLs differ only in URL and everything else is the same.

Are FAQ's Pages Still Useful?
The quick and dirty answer is yes, but only if they are of use to users. I saw pages on a former employers site do very well even though they were not a part of the main site. It all depends on what the content is and why you are putting it up.

Could this be the reason my home page has just disappeared from the SERPS?
HI David, Its really hard to say that for having some internal pages with canonical pointing to the home page, this one might get removed from google. It should the other way around, pages with that canonical shouldn't be indexed. But, from what I'm reading, your issue is about traffic and that the homepage is not ranking well anymore, isn't it? If that's the case there should be many other potential issues that you could be facing. Without knowing your website its hard to fully assess that. There is a big chance that google is not seeing your page or content as relevant for the searches that you are searching or willing to rank. This is a completely different matter as actually having your page indexed and ready to rank on google searches. Did I answer your question? Hope it helps. Best luck. Gaston

Permalink structure of an excising website
Hi there, Although there are many SEO articles and guides that encourage webmasters to use the keyword in the URL slug, in my experience with large websites there is no gain on doing that. Please, if you are optimizing a really small website on close to non-competed on SERPs, then there is a small chance that having your target keyword in the slug helps. I would spend my resources and time on optimizing content, technical debts and speed on those pages rather than this simple slug thing. Did I answer your question? Hope it helps. Best luck!

Google map pack confusion
Hello Rob! Thank you for bringing your question to the forum. If I'm correct in understanding that you have a Service Area Business (SAB) then here's what I can tell you: You are not allowed to create multiple GMB listings for your service areas, in most cases. Most SABs are allowed a single listing ... not multiple listings covering all the cities/suburbs they serve. So, you could be having trouble because you've created ineligible listings. Definitely read Google's guidelines on this: https://support.google.com/business/answer/3038177?hl=en It's fine to create whatever pages on your website you want to in order to represent your service area. However, only create such pages if they have a real purpose beyond targeting keywords. Recommend that you read: https://moz.com/blog/rank-beyond-location For your eligible GMB location, you can either choose to point the listing to your homepage or to a landing page on your website. The homepage will typically have higher authority, so some businesses with multiple physical locations do choose to point all of the GMB listings to the homepage URL. Others feel it's better UX to point mutli-location business listings to the location landing pages on the website. It's a choice each brand has to make. So, for a legitimate physical location of the business, if you had a listing pointing to the homepage and then changed the URL to point to a location landing page with lower authority, that could cause a drop in local pack rankings. I hope this feedback is helpful. Main thing will be for you to determine the number of listings you are eligible for, based on your number of physical locations. Please, feel free to let me know if you have any further questions.

Embedded twitter post is good for https://www.fitness-china.com/hip-thrust-machine seo
Hi there, In my experience, I haven't seen any improvement nor decrease in rankings for any given page when embedding twitter posts. Of course, you should use them with care. If you add a lot of twitter posts, you might be slowing down your page speed performance, and we already know that a slower page equals to worse rankings. Hope it helps. Best of luck.
