  • Hey Alick300, Optimizing QS can be a bit of a hassle, but is definitely something that is solvable, and while Roman gave some good tips, I'm going to break down the scoring to hopefully help you get to the bottom of this issue. While you said there were scores of 8 with all above average, I urge you to double check & screenshot if that is the case. Based on the way QS is calculated (see below), this cannot be the case. QS calculations in AdWords are, as of the time of writing this, 1 + (Landing Page Experience Value) + (Ad Relevance Value) + (Expected CTR Value). I have added a table below that breaks down the "Value" for each of these 3 facets. Landing Page Experience Above Average - 3.5 Average - 1.75 Below Average - 0 Ad Relevance Above Average - 2 Average - 1 Below Average - 0 Expected Click-Through-Rate Above Average - 3.5 Average - 1.75 Below Average - 0 So you can see that your score could be average on just CTR or Landing Page Experience and you would get an 8.25 (1+1.75+2+3.5 = 8.25). Google AdWords doesn't show decimals so you would see this value as a rounded 8 in the interface. If you can re-check the QS values & paste that information here I'd be more than happy to help you further improve the QSs of those keywords! Hope this helps! Trenton

  • I generally agree with George and Nicholas. I also think that the strength of your site vs the strength of the competition is important - along with the difficulty of the keywords. If you are going after long tail keywords against weaker competition, then six shorter content pages targeting six different keywords would be best.  However, if the competition is strong and the keywords difficult then one big kickass page will have the best chance. Finally, presenting one comprehensive article with all of your text and photos on one page is better for link-earning than breaking it up into six short pages. This is a complex question asked simply.  We could also consider the ad impression opportunity of getting the visitor to click through six pages.

  • Hi Logan, I've read the MOZ guide but it doesn't answer one question and I cannot find an answer anywhere else... Can hreflang tags be used to specify just ONE country (eg. "en-au"), or does it only work as an alternative to another language/region variation?

  • Hi Robert, There was a google update in March which Gary Illyes jokingly referred to is as "Fred" - Fred Update. The main purpose of that update to target websites with thin content, low-quality content or spammy links. I think your keyword is the victim of that update. Hope you find your answer. Thanks, Shahzad A

  • To your first question, have you looked at adding utm_ parameters to your ad URLs? You might be familiar with utm_ parameters from AdWords. They can work in exactly the same way for Facebook ads (but of course note that auto-tagging doesn't work for Facebook, so there's a little more work involved). For example, if I was advertising the Moz.com home page in my Facebook ad, I'd change the ad URL from https://www.moz.com to: https://www.moz.com?utm_source=facebook&**utm_medium=cpc**&utm_campaign=summer_sale&utm_content=ad_variant_1 You can use Google's URL builder to get an idea of this, but if you need to add lots of these across a large Facebook campaign, you'll be better off with Facebook's Power Editor. As long as you set the utm_medium to 'cpc', as I have above, Google Analytics can start to record these as paid traffic, rather than "Other".

  • Hi Roman, Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question, I appreciate that. Regarding your answer, please bear with me till I get everything clear please. 1- Config your search console with the languages of your site (create a sitemap for every language if you have a multilanguage website) My comment: My website is Only in Spanish, I'm using Yoast SEO on my Wordpress site, I think this plugin generates sitmap automatically without me creating it manually. I hope I'm right. Please correct me if I'm wrong. 2- Add the right href lang tag to your site - https://moz.com/learn/seo/hreflang-tag My comment: Do I need to do that if my website is only in Spanish Language? Should I add "href lang" in my internal linking between the pages? 3- And Never forget to add as many schemas as you can - http://schema.org/ My comment: I'm not familiar with schemas, I would really appreciate more details on this point if you can please. What exactly does it mean and how can I do it? Thank you again for your help Roman. Regards, Wajdi

  • Hi Ben, When you say that your client uses Duck Duck Go to check rankings, do you mean they manually check rankings in that search engine? Or they have some sort of tracking through Duck Duck Go? It almost sounds like there needs to be a conversation to educate the client on search engine market share and why they should be more interested in tracking rankings from Google, Bing, and Yahoo!, something that a Moz Campaign can do on both a national and local level. Apologies if I misunderstood the question, happy to help further if that is the case. Best, Joe

  • Confusing Search Engine by sending two different signal about one URL. You must keep it simple by applying 301 redirect from domain.com/en to domain.com. Domain.com/en version is little confusing for user as well, they will think that domain.com has a different default Language.

  • In terms of why things might have changed - if nothing has changed technically on the site, then the most likely reason is simply that one of the sequence of Google algorithm updates targeting quality has impacted the site: https://moz.com/google-algorithm-change I wouldn't spend too long trying to work out why it might have changed - and instead would put the energy into improving what you can. Good luck!
