Should I use the on classified listing pages that have expired?
Hi, I think it depends on the site, but my initial thoughts are that there probably isn't a lot of value to having those pages at all. Imagine the site grew to 50X the size it is now, would it make sense to have those pages? By that point, the site would have more thin/no indexed pages than new useful ones. I think it's important to think from a user point of view. Just because you add noindex doesn't mean Google will take the page out of the index in a hurry. That means there is a lot of potential for people to still find you in Google, arrive on an expired ad, have a bad experience and leave. What about trying to do something a bit more useful like redirecting them to a closely matched product category above? Even doing that might be confusing to users unless you have an overlay explaining that the product is no longer available, so you are redirecting them to a different page. Craig

Backlinks from different TLD's impact
Hi Justen, It wouldn't make a huge difference in terms of what it will do for you. Irrespective of language, Google will look at where a link comes from and it might do something for you (but it might not as well), but I really wouldn't worry. If these links are being earned as opposed to you going out after them, then sit back and watch them roll in. If you are going after links yourself, then as long as some (most?) of the sites make sense to your audience, then again, you are good. -Andy

INTERNAL LINKS strategy on our website
The "learn more" bit is a good point. I see it on a lot of successful blog sites. I think it makes the user experience better as it allows you to present your site in a structured way. Better experience then means better conversion rates for whatever you're trying to achieve!

How to build links naturally in a super competitve niche where all the other sites ranking are your direct competition?
Yeah, I've just had to grind it out. My content isn't anything amazing, but it's relevant and publishable. It's hard to really say anything earth-shattering in my field, and my goal hasn't necessarily been to publish articles that become the absolute authority on any given topic. My goal has been more to get articles published with the most reputable sites possible that will give me a dofollow link. I figure the more reputable backlinks I get, the higher my site will show up on Google, and the more the phone will ring. There's definitely been a direct correlation. When my site starting showing up in the top 3 local results and on page 1 of organic results (about 2 days ago), I started getting significantly more calls from potential new clients. Another thing that really helped with local results was asking clients for Google reviews. My placing in local results climbed immediately when I started having clients leave Google reviews.

Alt tag for thumbinal foto?
Hi, I would add other descriptive alt tags. Keep in mind that alt tags are also displayed when your image doesn't load for one reason or another. In your case, i wouldn't stuff these with keywords as you are in a commercial branche. I would keep the keyword alts for the main image. I also noted that your image filenames arent optimized (on the Edelweiss chalet) - i would consider renaming them first before you worry about thumbnail alts. You could consider naming the chalet "Zell-am-see-Oostenrijk-Chalet-Edelweiss.jpg" for example. Hope this is useful

Does anyone know of a Google update in the past few days?
According to Google search console between 18th of May and 21st of May. We had a temporary big position drop, with apparently no change in traffic volume but CTR seems to have dropped a bit and not recovered. Ever since then the graph is quite choppy compared to before but avg position & CTR seem to remain fairly constant. Crosschecking to traffic in GA this month's traffic compared to last has dropped by about 5% but that could be related to seasonal changes. With regards to positions I normally monitor weekly to cut out some of the noise that happens with Google these days. What do you use the daily tracking?

Redirection loop. Best way to resolve...
Hi Dan Thanks for the response. I did have 3 but now got the number of affected pages down to 1. Not a / issue, it appears to show the non www to https as the loop. Have set the appearance in GWMT as normal for display and set the derivative options accordingly in Plesk and not via htaccess. It was the plesk v htaccess element that I changed and removed 2 warnings. I shall keep an eye on it and see if this resolves/impacts over time. Thanks again, Daren

All urls seem to exist (no 404 errors) but they don't.
Hi, This is indeed an SEO issue, because you could possibly get an infinite ammount of duplicate content pages of your homepage. I do not think it is a major issue (i think that Google in Webmaster tool handles it as a soft 404). But from a user standpoint it is weird and not really use friendly. It could be managed in the HTACCES but could also be a Wordpress setup. So it depends.

Google cuts meta title after 60 characters and meta description after 130 characters. Is this new?
Hey Boris, The length for meta data remains still the same. However, there can be a reason why your data have been truncated. Google has a freedom to choose whatever text it wants based on the user's query. That means that if Google thinks there's is a better text for, let's say, meta description, than this text would be chosen from your page content. Also, Google can compose the description from more pieces of the content so there can be those three dots "..." not only at the end but also in the middle of the description. That doesn't need to mean that it has been truncated but that there's basically no more relevant content on the page which would better match the user's query / intent. Hope it makes sense. Ready for other questions. Cheers, Martin

J-Son Schema via tagmanager for Blog Post Listed at Blog Category Page
Hi Johny, I recommend only putting schema markup on actual blog posts, and not the category pages. Chances are pretty good that you're not getting much organic traffic to those pages anyway.. There's not a lot of reason for someone to search for something that would land them there, so much so that on every blog I manage I've had /category/ and /tag/ pages deindexed. However, if you're still wanting to do this, you'd have to set the markup for category pages as a separate tag in GTM and then apply a trigger that only applies to URLs in the category folder.
