couldn't they edit out the links back to your site?

You can choose to show different content to different regions based on IP and many large sites use it to some extent. One key point from the Google Webmaster guidelines is not not show Google something complete different again from all the other regions. If you do it will be seen as cloaking. Therefore you should decide which regions version of the site you widh Google to see. In terms of how much of the content you can change I am not aware of any best practices on this matter so it may be worth reading through the relevant sections on the Google Webmaster guideline pages.

Hi Steven. Depending on the type of business and geography it caters to, I generally advise clients to start at local and branch out. This helps establish your business as a bonafide, real business with a physical location. I believe it helps build significant trust. Be sure to align your phone numbers, physical business address and other details (synchronization) between profile accounts. In terms of links always build the most authority links you can first. For obvious and unobvious reasons. Authority links build trust faster and allow more cushion in terms of both profile build rate and the types of links you can build moving forward. Also, more trusted links in my experience actually help improve the weight or other links in parallel in the campaign when built correctly. Hope this helps, Todd

Hi guys, some good answers above, however in regards to Panda I do not believe link building is directly connected. Are links from Panda hit sites as valuable as they used to be? That is still being debated and I am yet to see any clear tests on it. Although commons sense tells me links from pages Google deems poor should have less value! "I was just reading an article about how Hubpages claims they pulled through from Panda by dividing their content up on subdomains" The above responses are very valid. I would question whether there is ANY link between Panda and subdomains - as the original question asked.

We really dont have the time or resources to keep up with both sites. We get about 150 organic hits to the "www.wafflemaker.com" site and only see about 20 of those come to our main site. Maybe a redirect is best since our sales site is set up to reel the buyer in. Thanks for the input Ryan

I'm sure there are some people that do prioritize their sitemap manually, but not me. I don't think the priority setting is THAT important!

lol SEOMoz has nothing to do with your pagerank.  You must do all of the work to earn pagerank. However, SEOmoz can make you a smarter webmaster so that you can get more out of the time that you spend. But, all of the work still must be done by you.

If the page simply exists on your site but is not in the navigation and has no backlinks to it then the chances are slim that you will rank well enough to drive a decent amount of traffic. This strategy can work but you will also need to add these pages to your link building campaign to raise their authority.
