  • One Keyword per Page & one variation of keyword. Ensure your title & description tags have the keyword. Ensure your body contains one keyword per 100-150 words. Include one variation. Example: Dog Leash Variation: Leash for dogs

  • Hi Jake - All the link sources have different indices, hence you'll see different data/numbers from each. A decrease may mean that parts of what was being crawled no longer is, or it could mean that some pages are no longer active or no longer linking to you. Not sure what you're referring to with Sept. of 2011 (~9 months ago). You can read all the updates to OSE here: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/category/38 Best of luck!

  • Where can I find knowledgeable website developers that know about proper seo!? The best advice I can offer on this topic is, don't try to combine these two jobs into one person. I know some great web developers. I know some great SEOs. I don't know any one person who is great at both. I have met many web developers who are certain they "know" SEO, but they really don't have any real SEO understanding. The opposite is likely true as well. I mention this information as a cautionary against any individual who may present themselves to you as such a person. Find the best SEO you can, find the best Magento programmer you can, then have the SEO evaluate your site, make recommendations and have the Magento expert make the necessary changes.

  • So, shall i accept the project considering i am safe at seomoz ! That is entirely your decision. I would not recommend depending on SEOmoz for assistance. The Q&A is a fantastic resource for asking an occasional question, but some questions go unanswered and the quality of answers can vary. You are being paid for your expertise on a subject. Only accept the job if you are confident you can offer a solid benefit to the client.  I was very candid with my first clients about my experience. I offered to work hard, work extra and work for less money but I did not ever hide my lack of experience. You may wish to do the same. Any tool to know the different terms used by australia and uk people. None that I am aware of. I would recommend locating someone from each country.

  • I believe you are looking at the "Crawl Diagnostics Summary" and not the actual crawl report.  The information you are seeking is on the actual Crawl Report.

  • Hi Mike, @SEOmoz tweeted a few hours ago that the team had completed the latest Linkscape Update a week ahead of schedule. Since there is generally a wait time before you can download your Advanced Report from the Keyword Difficulty Tool, it is quite possible that the numbers you obtained from there were Pre-Update, so may have changed in OSE. There is currently an issue with the Keyword Difficulty Tool producing an error result, but the Help Team are aware of it and working to resolve the issue. If you want to keep up with progress on that you can follow @SEOmoz on Twitter and they will advise when it is resolved. Then you will be able to run your Advanced Report again. You can run a 5 site comparison in Open Site Explorer using the Advanced Reports to get you through with most of the information if you need to. If for some reason you don't believe the Update timing was a factor, then the best solution would be to email the Help Team  help[at]seomoz.org. Hope that helps, Sha

  • Hi Mike, Paul Rogers mentioned that he has built a tool that will query the SEOmoz API using Google Docs in a recent post on the SEOmoz Blog - How to Reach Bloggers, Ninja Style. It might be worth following up with Paul to see if he can help you out. Hope that helps, Sha

  • There are two quick methods I use to check if a site's ranking has been devalued or penalised; Compare the Page rank of the site in question with MozRank. If MozRank is 1.5+ points different, then the site may have been penalised by google and lost some of it's PR. Pick a sentence from the site of 5-6 words and search for this sentence in google enclosed in quotes. If you find the the site is ranking on the first page, then it probably hasn't been penalised or devalued heavily. I also use gut instinct for a lot of links and usually that's good measure - If a site look spammy, then it probably will to google. As for nolo.com, it looks like a pretty decent site to me, so I would be surprised if it's links have been devalued.

  • Hi everyone. We at SEOmoz are aware of the problem and are looking into it. I've asked an OSE engineer to respond in the thread at http://www.seomoz.org/q/link-analysis so please look over there (we'll also give a brief update on Twitter too) . I'm closing this thread so we can keep things to one thread.

  • I've had success using DFB on pages that link to my sites.  I have always shied away from blasting anything like this to my main sites.

  • Hi Jason! Alex has a good point there, spanish anchor text inside english text will just look spammy. One thing to remember is that Google recognize synonyms and other languages as well. If you want to build links for the spanish word "perder peso" and find it very tough to make it effective, links from english sites with the english anchor text "weight loss" will help you as well (the effect might not be as good as with spanish, but it will help). Google will understand that "perder peso" equals "weight loss". But the recommendation is to work with links for the goal language, it´s most relevant for the users and in the eyes of Google.
