  • Hey, Thanks for reaching out to us! Unfortunately this is not something that is possible within Mozbar - it sounds like it could be a great idea though! Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com if you have any other questions Eli

  • Hi Fubra, Thanks for your response. My previous question lacked clarity as we want to rank as a review source for the businesses we have listed on our website. We have all of our channels working well (PPC, social, organic, etc.). I'm focusing on getting this issue of having us as a review source working in the knowledge panel as our smaller competitors are there but we aren't. I've included a screenshot to help illustrate what we'd like to achieve. CMxg9Z1

  • Overall, always use what the most naturally sounding anchor text is in a content-heavy link, or for navigation purposes best describes what the page is about. But, from an SEO strategy standpoint I would say that the anchor text "places to visit in Morocco" is a stronger choice. Hope that was helpful!

  • Suggestions: Check Webmaster tools and make sure all pages are indexing correctly. Also, watch out for "no follow" tags in the meta data of each page. "><me< span="">ta id="MetaGenerator" name="GENERATOR" content="example keyword "></me<> and of course, utilize MOZ SEO tools for ranking reports and optimization errors.

  • Hi Mike, That new tool is very revealing and supports my experience that you can't dupe Google into ranking a different page just by canonicalization. Thanks! Nigel

  • OK, Paul, I hear what you are saying. It's a very open and obvious diss. I'm not sure what you are saying makes any difference to the argument that the canonical way here is not the way to go. I was explaining in the simplest way, I would not want, and I'm sure you would not want either, a live page like this - the home page, live and canonicalised. (It's a given that the canonical works like a 301, passing link juice to the preferred version.) So thanks but it makes no difference - delete & 301 every time. Google is heightening its distrust of canonicals - the new Seach Console tool reveals which pages are the preferred canonical and it's something of a surprise to SEOs! If you feel like playing top trumps again then why not PM me? - it's so much better and the uninitiated do not need to see it! Cheers Nigel

  • Simple. If SEO tactics are a part of your scope of services contracted with the client, you need to implement the H1. If not, there's no reason to.

  • Hello! I don't think it would be beneficial to worry about moving just a few pages. Instead, do what you can to link back over to relevant pages on the main site from those blog pages, and try to drive users to the main site if appropriate. Google will also look at traffic patterns in addition to links and pass more value from the blog pages to your main site if they see user behavior as such.

  • Hi James, Considering that those redirects are 301, there is nearly no loss in linkjuice, as JohnMueller said. Also, a great study was published by Cyrus Sheperd: 301 Redirects Rules Change: What You Need to Know for SEO - Moz Blog Keep in mind that the middle parts in a redirect chain will never get any authority, as google doesnt see them live. The whole "juice" goes to the last piece of the chain. Do not never forget that GoogleBot can understand a finite number of redirects: Up to 5 hops. More info about that: Can too many redirects from a single URL have a negative effect on crawling? - Google Webmaster YouTube Channel Is there a limit to how many 301 (Permanent) redirects I can do on a site? - Google Webmaster YouTube Channel Hope it helps. Best luck! GR

  • Long URLs is a pet peeve! But I agree with Martin on the traffic analogy. Modify the pages that need the most help and measure against the pages you do not change.

  • Hello there, Actually, I think this article could really help you! https://www.danielmorell.com/guides/htaccess-seo/https-www-and-trailing-slash Alternatively, if you want to get the rules right away, just copy below, change the "example.com" to your domain then it should be working. Force HTTPS Force WWW Remove trailing / from file Turn on rewrite engine RewriteEngine on Check if not directory and ends in / RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (.+)/$ If not a directory skip next RewriteRule RewriteRule ^ - [S=2] Check if HTTPS and WWW RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www.(.*)$ [OR,NC] RewriteCond %{https} off This RewriteRule skipped if URI was a directory RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://www.example.com/$1 [R=301,L] This RewriteRule used if URI was a directory RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d RewriteRule ^ - [S=1] RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ https://www.example.com/$1 [R=301,L] Do note, this 301 redirect your URL to the version with trailing slash, and because Google sees the trailing slash and non-trailing slash version of your pages as a different page, you should be doing a 301 to the right one. Read more about it here: https://www.seroundtable.com/google-trailing-slashes-url-24943.html Of course, you can choose to remove the trailing slash 301 redirecting, Moz doesn't redirect to either version, and they rank well. But sites like Neilpatel (they have unnecessary redirects) and Backlinko does redirect, and they rank well too. So it's up to you if you want Google to help you identify which version you prefer or you tell Google yourself. Finally, you can use this tool to check if your redirects are working as you expected: https://httpstatus.io/ (When you test, use a blog page or a specific page to test all the 8 variations because trailing slash doesn't matter at the homepage, take a look at screenshots below) uPeMS8X.jpg ugDMJZ9.jpg 0wtlmAX.jpg HV2Byd5.jpg

  • Hi Dan-Louis – all depends on what content these modals are serving, and how your modals are being served. Have you checked to make sure that some resource your modals rely on isn't blocked in /robots.txt (you can also plug a URL with a modal into Search Console's robots.txt checker)? What about meta robots noindex? On mobile, do you have pop ups that are obscuring content on the page? Have you checked any pages with these pop ups/modals in Search Console's fetch and render tool? What resources, if any, are blocked? TBH I don't like relying on SEMRush (or any singular SEO tool for that matter) for ID'ing technical SEO problems. When was the last time you performed a tech audit? Keep me posted on what you uncover...

  • Hi Howard Both Joseph and Gaston's tips here are great. Just adding that for backlinks, you could choose a handful of your most authoritative/important backlinks and ask the sites to update the link. It's probably not super needed from a ranking standpoint, but can help Google pick up on the migration signals faster - and I find it's actually a great reason to reach out to sites and reconnect. Definitely update any backlinks you have control over (in social, profiles etc) I definitely recommend following Aleyda's checklist that Gaston linked to.

  • Hi, I agree with Joseph that what you're seeing is probably due to the style breakpoints you have on that page. **However - **while fetch and render gives us some insight into how Google might interpret a page, it is not what Google is "seeing". Google is viewing the page code and, while there is some evidence it will deprioritise content which is hidden with methods like display:none I really don't think your site will suffer because your break point is different from the one in fetch and render. Changing the break point could conceivably involve quite a lot of front end dev or working with your site templates to avoid causing issues. I understand your concern but I honestly wouldn't put this to the top of your priority list. Hope that helps!
