How to find orphan pages
Yes I mentioned in my case I use Semrush and there is a dedicated space for that specific parameter. The easiest way to get your log files is logging into your cPanel and find an option called Raw Log Files. If you are still not able to find it, you may need to contact your hosting provider and ask them to provide the log files for your site. Raw Access Logs allow you to see what the visits to your website were without displaying graphs, charts, or other graphics. You can use the Raw Access Logs menu to download a zipped version of the server’s access log for your site. This can be very useful when you want to quickly see who has visited your site. Raw logs may only contain a few hours’ worths of data because they are discarded after the system processes them. However, if archiving is enabled, the system archives the raw log data before the system discards it. So go ahead and ensure that you are archiving! Once you have your log file ready to go, you now need to gather the other data set of pages that can be crawled by Google, using Screaming Frog. Crawl Your Pages with Screaming Frog SEO Spider Using the Screaming Frog SEO Spider, you can crawl your website as Googlebot would, and export a list of all the URLs that were found. Once you have Screaming Frog ready, first ensure that your crawl Mode is set to the default ‘Spider’. Then make sure that under Configuration > Spider, ‘Check External Links’ is unchecked, to avoid unnecessary external site crawling. Now you can type in your website URL, and click Start. Once the crawl is complete, simply a. Navigate to the Internal tab. b. Filter by HTML. c. Click Export. d. Save in .csv format. Now you should have two sets of URL data, both in .csv format: All you need to do now is compare the URL data from the two .csv files, and find the URLs that were not crawlable. If you decided to analyze a log file instead, you can use the Screaming Frog SEO Log File Analyser to uncover our orphan pages. (Keep in mind that Log File Analyzer is not the same tool that SEO spyder) The tool is very easy to use (download here), from the dashboard you have the ability to import the two data sets that you need to analyze If the answer were useful do not forget to mark it as a good answer ....Good Luck

How has the MOZ community used the new query data from Google My Business?
Thanks so much for confirming, and I really appreciate you letting us know you're interested in this function and already have smart plans for how you would use it. We've been watching the rollout of Query data with interest, too, but unfortunately, Google hasn't yet made it part of their API, which Moz Local relies on. Right now, our engineers are actively following, researching, comparing it to GSC results, and otherwise evaluating it, but it will be up to Google to give this feature prime-time treatment. It's really good to know it's something you'd be interested in seeing. It's important for us to hear that, and I've shared your feedback with our team. Thank you!

Call for Help. Hit Badly with "Medic" and another 30% Loss with Sept 28th Update
Hi Jeff, This is a tough one. Very sorry to hear about your business losses. As I'm sure you know, several the recent "core algorithm" updates from Google have focused on site quality. Via their Quality Rater program, they ask human reviewers, with specific guidelines, to dig not only into the content of the site but the background of the owners/writers. They test new substantial algo changes with this group before they update results for all users, with a specific focus on "Your Money Or Your Life" (YMYL) content, or pages that deal with serious and potentially life-altering topics. A site offering health information and supplement advice, and also selling those supplements, is in the crosshairs of this kind of review. This is just my take on it, but I expect your losses are largely due to the perceived brand trustworthiness. I'd consider toning down your on-site product promo imagery and ensuring trust-building elements (badges, ratings, testimonials, any kind of accreditations you have) are clearly visible above-the-fold. I'd also recommend building a more clear/clinical layout and typographical treatment for your advice content (blog posts, articles, etc). You might also want to consider limiting the array of supplements you promote and sell, staying away from the controversial and potentially dangerous. I also, unfortunately, would not expect immediate results from this. These core algorithm updates come several times a year, but but I worked with an auto parts retailer who lost 30% of their organic traffic+revenue overnight in the "Phantom III" update (which seemed to be a general "quality" update similar to recent core algo updates) - they had some UX issues, content that seemed there just for SEO, etc. About a year after their big drop, they made a big push to improve UX/quality and add trust-building elements to their pages, and six months after this design/UX overhaul, they regained all of their traffic in the "Phantom V" update. I suspect there is nothing technically broken with your site and that duplicate content and similar are not holding you back much - but that quality raters preferred search results with other sites for the keywords you've been ranking for. First impressions of the brand, quality/trustworthiness of content, etc have big impact here - but these reviewers are also instructed to verify that the owners/publishers of the site are accredited and trustworthy as per other online sources: "Many websites are eager to tell users how great they are. Some webmasters have read these rating guidelines and write 'reviews' on various review websites. But for Page Quality rating, you must also look for outside, independent reputation information about the website. When the website says one thing about itself, but reputable external sources disagree with what the website says, trust the external sources." Not to suggest you have scam/similar accusations showing up online, but it's something additional I'd want to look into. Best of Luck, Mike

Job Board SEO
Hello SO_UK, That is a tough question to answer without more details. Is there more than one URL for each job posting, or category page? If not, you can probably do without the canonical tags. If you want me to have a quick look, feel free to send me the link in a private message. Otherwise, I can only give the general advice that any time you have multiple URLs for the same page you should use a Rel="canonical" tag.

Was there Algorithm update over last weekend (sep 29-30 2018)?
Man I hate typical Google's response - "yeah, sure, we messed up everyone's past efforts, but we won't tell you what we did exactly"

Should I use a 301, or a 302 for a link which expires within 24 hours?
Yes, you should. Here is a better definition for you: 302 redirect shall be used when the original URL was working as a normal web page, but then for some reason that page needed to be redirected for, let's say, next 24 hours only. An example would be if you are redesigning an existing page of a website and need to redirect users to another page for a few days so that users do not see the mess while you redesign. 301 redirect is pretty much when the original URL is not going to exist anymore, as in telling google to not check, not to render, not to try to index that URL. Actually, I have a better question - since these temporary URLs are indeed temporary, why to even have them? and not just have straight forward normal URLs? It's not like those temporary URLs will be ever ranking..
