What is the tool to check if a page (ex. a dynamic page) will properly be indexed by Google?
There is also a Fetch as BingBot tool in Bing's Webmaster Tools which will confirm Bing's crawler can also index your page. Too many people forget about Bing, but it's often the source of 30% of a site's organic visits, so not a good thing to ignore. Paul

SEO for codeigniter
Codeigniter is the php version of MVC, to be honest if you wanted to follow the MVC pattern Codeigniter would be my last choice, from a coding perspective it is ugly, from a performance perspective it is very slow, but all MVC patterns allow for good url structures, and you should be able to make a good crawlable site. Yost is a plugin to hide the short commings of wordpress, with a hand built site you should not have a need for such things. As for the MVC pattern, the best MVC solution I think by far is ASP.NET MVC, but many will say ruby on rails. ASP.NET MVC makes good seo very easy.

When do i use disallow links in WMT?
So, these are sites that scraped your post and then linked back to it? If that's the case, the links are good, in a sense - they help Google remove the duplicates. I'm not sure what you mean by "there are 2-3 always". What does your link profile look like outside of this. If there are 66 links like this, and these are the only 66 links you have, it's possible you could be at risk. If these are 66 out of 6,000 links, then I probably wouldn't worry about it, especially if they're not paid links or somehow engineered (part of a link network, etc.).

Can a template be set up in Moz Reports that you then just apply to each customer?
I still can't find the feature request you submitted, ScriptiLabs. Are you able to provide a link for it? it doesn't seem to be showing under recent requests or in the search results in that section of the list. Would love to upvote it with you. Also, as mentioned, marking the answer you found most useful as a Good Answer will help others spot it quickly when viewing the question. Paul

Can links from an old site raise DA for other site? Or just unethical?
Ok, so company ran out of business, the domain got expired; you bought it and point it back to your website. I don’t see anything wrong, technically! The only thing you should consider checking is the link profile of the domain because a bad link profile can lead you to an unexpected bad situation, where as a good link profile will only help. The question is how people will react to it? This is very much depends upon industry to industry, customer base and business itself. Let’s say the company which ran out of business contain a bad offline reputation, redirecting a domain might redirect the reputation as well (same is for the positive side). You have technical details clear but before making a move, make sure about how you potential and current clients feel about it. Hope this helps!

NAP question about wider service area
Hi Alex, Regarding testimonials - no, I am not referencing testimonials from websites. I'm talking about getting written testimonials from your customers (either on paper or via email) and uploading them yourself using Schema review markup to the respective city landing page on your own website. These on-page testimonials can be a powerful way to add unique content to your city landings pages, and they also sometimes show up in the SERPs with stars (though Google's display of this keeps changing). As to why Google is showing you results for a city 30 miles away when you're not adding a geo-modifier, I'm not sure. Could it be that there is something about that city that is particularly relevant, or, could your location possibly be set to this city in Google, causing Google to show you results for that city? Have you tried checking from other computers located in your town? Clearly, you're doing pretty well for your own local city, and this is where you can expect to rank in the local pack (not in a city where you're not physically located) so if pursuing rankings in other cities is important, they will almost certainly have to be organic rankings, not local ones.

Do more page links work against a Google SEO ranking when there is only 1 url that other sites will link to?
Thanks Marc. Sorry for the slow response--I came down with a bug last night.. Here is the basis for my comments that I am thinking that link juice is about Page Rank and not some much with the resulting Search Rank, as well as that Page Rank may actually not be a big deal anymore with overall Search Rank--and so my concern about dilution is overblown. Regardless of the truth on the matter, I appreciate your advice about content and relevancy: http://searchengineland.com/googles-matt-cutts-we-dropped-the-100-links-per-page-guideline-but-we-may-take-action-if-it-is-too-spammy-178197 http://blog.hubspot.com/blog/tabid/6307/bid/5535/Why-Google-Page-Rank-is-Now-Irrelevant.aspx Thanks again, Ted

URL for a new website
My advice is to purchase a domain you can/will build a brand around. Stick to the brand URL/domain as exact name match domains have been flagged by Google for top rankings. Optimize the site for both targeted traffic and local and national/international search traffic. I'm a big believer now of brand domains, and developing links to those sites with links that reflect, brand mentions, KW mentions for correlation, social mentions and inbound related marketing content development to strengthen the domain's total overall market presence. Another reason to keep the domain 'brand related' is about the UI/UX for recalling it. If it's some crazy long typed domain name with KW's and brand mentions, it becomes tedious to remember and type out Using the brand name as the focus and URL will keep it straight to the point for the user and marketing behind it. NOTE: Make sure to research out the social profiles of any URL you are looking at, to build up around as you want to ensure you can lock them all up prior to purchasing anything Either way, your best bet with a completely new domain will be to focus on developing out a local SEO strategy and supporting that with targeted content and social media profiles. This way, when you are ready to gain and target a larger audience (national?), you have the backbone profile on the site to reinforce the effort. Hope some of that helps

Internal Linking
There is definitely no need to strive for more internal links pointing from your home page unless your internal pages are suffering from being "orphaned" (not linked to from anywhere) or having very few internal / external links pointing to them. You definitely don't need 1,700 links pointing out from your home page and it's doubtful the number of links on any one page is used as a ranking factor of any particular significance. The goal should be to pass PageRank to important parts of the website and aid usability, so if 24 links is doing that job for you, then 24 links is doing that job right.

Link building for a non-linkable site?
Hi Chris, Your post has made me curious about your competitor's link profile. If the industry is tough to get links to, what has he done to get 6,000 links. Sounds like you know the number of links he has - have the analyzed where they are coming from? Are they natural and high-quality or are they weird and potentially a red flag to Google? I also think your industry sounds interesting. If you are doing construction for farmers, specifically, I'm guessing you're building some kind of agricultural structures. Would this be something that you could create an interesting infographic around that could be helpful to others in your industry, earning you industry-relevant links? How about videos? And I completely agree with Erwan's comments about developing great content on the site. And here's a great WBF from Rand on earning links via social mentions: moz.com/blog/the-top-4-ways-to-use-social-media-to-earn-links-whiteboard-friday Also, this one from Paddy Moogan is a bit old now, but still contains some good, creative ideas: http://moz.com/blog/how-to-get-links-in-tough-industries Local SEO is a very interesting field in that, in many cases, linkbuilding isn't even really necessary. Yes, in really tough verticals like law, it may be, but often it isn't, provided the business has an established, excellent website, clean citations and ongoing reviews coming in. How is your competitor doing in these areas and is there a chance you could surpass him in these things? Hope these thoughts are helpful!

Localize Homepage, or service pages?
Hi Chris, It's really important to understand that Local Search is city-based, not state-based. Local SEO revolves around optimizing core pages of the website and the footer with your complete NAP (name, address, phone number) of your physical location, building a Google+ Local page for that city of location, building citations on various directories for that city of location and earning reviews on them, plus any links and social mentions you can earn. For any city in which you serve but are not physically located, it's a best practice to build city landing pages on the website with totally unique content on them. These will not typically achieve local pack rankings, because there is no physical address tied to them, but they can achieve organic rankings for searches pertaining to these other cities. So, if you are taking a Local SEO approach to your marketing, and let's say you're physically located in Denver, then your core pages and NAP and citations and reviews will all need to reflect the Denver location. Your title tags and content on these pages will be most geared toward Denver. Your city landings pages for cities where you aren't physically located can then reflect other cities like Boulder, Aspen, Colorado Springs, etc. Typically, even if you serve statewide, you're not going to build a landing page for every single city in the state. I mean ... technically, you could do this, but it would be vast project. So, in general, what you'd want to do is to identify maybe 10 major cities in which you serve and build a unique landing page for each. Then, I would recommend setting up a blog on your website and when you build a barn in another city, writing a blog post about this. If you build 50 barns a year, that's 50 blog posts and 50 chances for Google to see that you've got unique content on the website featuring your work in this variety of cities. You can add to the static city landing pages over time, too, and you can be sure that the homepage and contact page of the website reflects that you will travel anywhere within the state of Colorado to serve, but tackling the whole state at once is likely to be too big of an SEO project for any business. Taking the work in steps and stages will enable you to build great content that is highly relevant to people searching from the various cities in Colorado for the services you provide. Hope this helps!

How do you reduce duplicate content for tags and categories in Wordpress?
Hi Michael It looks like everyone here pretty much has you covered. I also wanted to point you to this resource I did for Moz on setting up WordPress for SEO: http://moz.com/blog/setup-wordpress-for-seo-success In general, I'd agree with noindexing tags. You can index categories, but this won't result in overlapping content as long as you put posts in just 2-3 categories each.
