Page disappeared from Google index. Google cache shows page is being redirected.
Hi. An update for those curious minded folks. The page is back! I am not sure what happened. I think it may have been caused by a conflict between 2 content management systems. We had the URL in both, one being redirect to the pop-in. Somehow Google picked up on it. Thank you1

Strange strategy from a competitor. Is this "Google Friendly"?
Be very careful about making assumptions regarding competitors. Just because you see one thing, does not mean either that one thing is helping or hurting a site. SEO is a vast, complex environment. If a site has enough very strong signals across many areas, one or even a few very poorly executed things may not hurt the site. Or it may not hurt the site "until Google catches up with it". Duplicate content, regardless of method (within a single site, across multiple domains, across a mix of domains and subdomains" is never a true best practice. Ever. it's artificial, and Google most definitely takes the position that if you are attempting to "artificially" (in their view) manipulate rankings in a non-best-practices manner, that's a violation of their guidelines, policies or TOS.

ECommerce search results to noindex?
We don't use any eCommerce platform with fully developed in-house. Was more about whether it was good to no-index the search results, which you have answered. I will go about putting this in the robots.txt

Report time periods & Domain Authority over time
Hello Marco, Thanks for trying out Moz and for jumping in on our Q&A forum! In Moz Analytics, we collect data and build timeframes weekly and monthly for all sections of your campaign. In addition, there are daily timeframes for Social and for Traffic from Search (if you have Google Analytics connected to your Moz Analytics campaign). In addition, you can setup Custom Reports with any combination of Moz Analytics modules to run daily, weekly, or monthly with direct email delivery to you and/or your clients. As you explore Moz Analytics further, you might benefit from the Getting Started guide and from Matt Brown's awesome blog post, A Field Guide to Moz Analytics. Regarding Domain Authority over time - yes! Check out the Links section of Moz Analytics where you can track not only your own DA over time, but DA over time for up to three competitors. The Field Guide linked above includes a screenshot of this section (scroll to/search: "Links: new features for competitor tracking"). I hope this helps. Please don't hesitate to engage us and our awesome community if you have any other questions. Cheers, Jeremy

Is This Going to Hurt?
If the site was submitted, and its already in effect, you will have to wait and see if there is any negative linking. You will not be able to disavow any URL's until you know about them. At the same time, Google isn't stupid. If this was all that it took to bring down a website in ranking, people would be using it daily on their competitor's URLs. What I am trying to say is: wait and see. A one time submission is probably not going to make or break you in any way. If you were submitting daily pings, and had a track record of being a spammy site, then I would think otherwise.

Should I disavow a particular site (no warnings in WMT)?
Thanks all that's good advice. It sounds like this is a fairly grey area. Based on this, we've decided to run some checks on the domain first before proceeding.

For a classifieds site, should we keep deleted/sold/expired ads?
If I had a site like that I would eliminate the individual ad pages and have much longer-tail ad categories. Then the category pages would each have multiple ads, most recent at the top, and expiring ads at the bottom. That puts much more substantive content on every page of the site, more potential keyword matches per page, more ranking power per page.

Can pop-ups cause duplicate content issues in product pages?
Google cannot read ALL JavaScript in every situation. Yet **they most definitely can read at least some of it in some situations. ** The article quoted was from 2012. A LOT has changed since then. A May 2014 post up in the Google Webmaster Central blog mentioned how they can read it / execute it sometimes, while others they can't, though they do not go into specifics. A direct quote from Matt Cutts: “Once that JavaScript has all been loaded, which is the important reason why you should always let Google crawl the JavaScript and the CSS – all those sorts of resources – so that we can execute the page,” he continues. “Once we’ve fetched all those resources, we try to render or execute that JavaScript, and then we extract the tokens – the words that we think should be indexed – and we put that into our index.” source: Webmaster Video April 7, 2014 Oh - and if you block that JS in your robots.txt file, Google MAY respect that, and Google MAY ignore that. While Robots.txt files USED to be a firm "directive", nowadays they're "just one more signal / hint". Do not assume that in your unique situation Google will or will not find that content, they will or will not see it as duplicate content just because they "may" or "may not" be able to figure out your JavaScript. Want to avoid that insanity? Yeah - generate the content you contain in those pop-ups on actual unique URLs that get loaded in those pop-ups. Then, on those specific URLs, do a noindex, nofollow meta robots tag, AND a canonical tag pointing to the main product description page where that content appears in its primary form. Or write entirely unique content for those pop-ups.

Should we add our company's name in page title tag or not?
Thanks for your reply! True! In the next update we are removing the company's name as we need to restrict the title tag to 70 characters. Thank you all!

On hover my links are with additional Parameters while links that are indexed are without additional parameters
Google is pretty good about deciding what URL to index within CMS based sites. If you have already set your canonical pages, the next step would be setting them in Webmaster tools URL parameters, and blocking them from being indexed in your robots file.

Viral SlideShare = Google Penalty?
We saw some similar ranking movement, in which sites rose very high, then settled towards the bottom of the page. This could possibly be due to the update getting implemented, then being finalized. I am all for the proactive approach, but I think you should wait about a week before making any changes on your site. While you are waiting to see if anything shifts again, do some competitor analysis. Take a look and see who replaced your spot. See if there is anything they do better. This way, if nothing changes you have a better plan of action of what areas need "fixing"
