  • Hi guys thanks for the replies. Its kind of a weird situation because although both sites are for the same company and product they serve / served different purposes. The word press site basically just presented some content and gave a broad stroke over view of what we do. The Magento site is set up to actually present the content, allow users to log in and download premium content... As a downloadable product. The word press site never went as deep into it and did not have individual product pages or user log ins and downloads. The sites are laid out in 2 entirely different ways, so its not so easy to just match product pages to product pages and category pages to category pages. They have 2 totally different ways of presenting content. The sites are 2 different domains. The word press site did have a blog filled with very mediocre content that I have no desire to bring to the new site. Im fine with it completely disappearing.. All of the above is what lead me to believe the best approach might be just to snag whatever juice possible out of the old site. thanks for any further replies.

  • Yes, adwords CR would give you that answer. The budget required depends on so many factors. But you can reduce the list of KW sampling the complete list. But at least at macro level if you discuss that with someone from your client who knows his market and his consumers you should start getting an idea. Logic+common sense is a good start. I would analyze that before to start changing the website. But if you do the opposite is not that you are going to break any porcelain. Duplicate content is not like a manual penalization, as far as I know, once you fix it and google crawl the new version the ranking is updated.

  • Sort of related: If I have 2 office locations in 2 different cities, should I list the website homepage URL on the Google Plus pages, or should I list the specific contact us page URL for the office location that is on the company website? Does it make a difference? Thanks!

  • To avoid any risk of being penalized you need to be very careful to do not cloak. For example, in my experience if you tweak content serving different version of the page to javascript enabled browser and browser without JS is fine. But if you change something when you detect the http request is coming from googlebot, even if you change just a title, google gets very very angry. Link building is not affected, do not encourage people to link using hashbang. I don't remember about canonical, I don't think so, but just check the google docs I linked earlier. But, as I said earlier, I strongly suggest to do not use hashbang, and redesign the app to use ajax the way I described earlier.

  • Ok, I started analyzing my site and as almost all of you suggested content needs to be improved if not created from 0. I have a very specific question, I have a subcategory named briefs, where I display men's Underwear Briefs. the structure goes something like this mainsite.com/mens-underwear/briefs I need a Meta Title, Meta description (I know this are relevant for the User not much for Search engines) and then I need a description, However the word Brief is extremely broad. Any suggestions where I can find keyword Ideas for this? or search traffic that is more targeted? I would appreciate your comments. Again thank you!
