  • Real case... almost 10 years ago SEO manager in some company was flying to their HQ just to explain why their PR was dropped from 6 to 5. C-level execs wasn't happy about that. Now fun part - impressions, CTR and visits was increased during that update.

  • Hi Trevor! As of right now, the next index is still scheduled for release on Friday. If a change to this date occurs, you will see it reflected on the Mozscape API Updates page. If something were to happen to push back this estimated date, we would announce it on that page as soon as the delay occurred. I hope that helps!

  • Thanks for the answers. Haven't had those figures earlier but I guess you are right. Didn't handle them correctly. I guess it was a mistake from my part. Thanks again.

  • Ultimately people complain about DA because they lack the understanding of what it measures. DA paints a picture of the hierarchy of the web and your "ranking" within the web. This is how DA was designed. As professionals we have chosen to utilise this ranking but sadly people are using it without first learning fully what it means and as such fall into pitfalls The scale is designed to represent the whole web. The web is to large to simply divide into smaller sections that allow you to have a scale in which you can climb. If you define a static ceiling or remove the ceiling you either end up with all websites above the ceiling forcing it to be redefined anyway or allow DA to climb so high that it is unobtainable anyway. DA can tell you everything you need it to, as long as you stop looking at it as a figure only you can influence.

  • Hey John, I recently wrote a post for Moz/Blog that goes more in depth on integrating our data into reporting dashboards (the post focuses on Klipfolio, a Tableau alternative). Your best bet would be to integrate our Mozscape API with Tableau on the backend. Tableau doesn't have a stable of easy integrations,  however they do make API integration possible with their Web Data Collector tool. Hope this helped! Reach out with any Moz API questions - IanW@moz.com Ian

  • Thank you Jennita and Rand for your quick responses.  Great, lets keep our fingers crossed all goes well and I'm confident the Moz team can deliver it. We all take a ride on the ebb and flow roller coaster from time to time, its what makes us learn more and overcome challenges. Have a great day Cheers, Joseph

  • I hope we might actually have that 11/17 index out a little bit early. We've made a lot of fixes and optimizations, and, fingers crossed, it looks (so far) like it's making a difference in terms of speed to index processing completion.

  • Hi Ian, Thanks for your response. Thats a pain! It would be nice to see this as a feature in the future. I'll tweak my app accordingly. Cheers.

  • Hey Rafi, I took a look at your campaigns but I didn't see one that is specifically returning an 803 error for the homepage, so I really need a bit more information in order to investigate what might be going on here. If you don't want to share the specific site publicly here, you can email us directly with the the campaign details or just click the blue circle on the bottom right corner of your account to message us directly from within the app with the details. I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

  • Thanks, I wont be giving up my subscription just yet as I think the work Moz does in terms of whiteboard fridays and everything else is worth it. I have spoken to your live help and reached a more than satisfiable outcome. Just a fruit for thought, the crawlers should be running 24/7 365 days and doing less work over a longer period, my job is a big data Analytics engineer / DevOps and this helped us solve a ton of issues at the petabyte scale.

  • Thank you for your question and concerns. Moz is committed to providing high quality metrics. I wrote a piece about it prior to my joining Moz a month or two ago comparing the proportional representativeness of Moz's index to Google vs. the other major providers, which showed that Moz's crawl was more representative of Google than any other. An unfortunate side effect of monitoring index and metric quality is actually doing something about it when things don't look quite right. We would rather know we delayed an unsatisfactory release than not know if we delivered a satisfactory one. That being said, I think you will be pleasantly surprised over the next year or so with the improvements you see coming out of the Big Data team in everything from quality to quantity and stability. They are doing some truly amazing things.
