Why there is high DA for blank brand new sites?
I'd also like to point out that I too have come across a new competitor who just popped in with a new url / site and started out ranking us on our major keywords. I mean page 2 right off the bat, when I audited their site, I saw: many 404s, bad link structure but good enough to function, a shoty backlink campaign that was using a SEO company's site 7 times for various keywords just to rank, and had one actual backlink that would be considered whitehat. The end result after watching them enjoy page 2 for 2 months, was one day while scanning the SERPs found them not on page 2 but on page 9, then they popped back to page 2 three days later. About 2 weeks later, they were page 10 and still are. Seems the got hit or google caught on to their backlink fun. Stay whitehat, stay busy / productive and always push forward! Slow and steady does win the race.

Internal Equity Passing Links Showing 0
I have a similar issue too - a very old website and well-linked to so internal links should be crawled but display as 1 in OSE. Would love to hear how you fixed yours?

Site Mark-up is Abnormally Small
Thanks Michael, My gut would agree. It should be looked at in context and thanks for confirming that for me. Doesn't help when clients look at the tool though.

Campaign shows website links from Https. My site is not https but http:// HELP
Hi Morgan! You will want to check with your hosting provider to look at the https configuration for your domain. They will be able to isolate any issues there as they should not be resolving if it isn't setup. Hope this helps!

How does spammy linked site have zero spam score?
Hi there! Don is absolutely right that spam score values varying by subdomain, as that's how we make distinctions for the metric. With that being said, spam score of a given subdomain is not particularly easily influenced by the types of sites that are linking to it. Most of the 17 possible spam flags (which can be viewed here: https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/spam-analysis/flags?subdomain=www.penn-criminallawyers.com) are reflective of on-site factors within the subdomain itself. So, while I agree that spam score is not particularly well-adjusted to speak to the fact that http://www.penn-criminallawyers.com/ has some serious issues with their inbound links, it's worth noting that they didn't necessarily have to have cultivated all of those backlinks for themselves. I'm certainly not trying to go down the rabbit hole of spam conspiracy theories, but simply accounting for the fact that anyone can create a link to any site (unless disavows are involved), and it could be rash to judge a subdomain's "spammyness" based purely on their inbound external link profile. Spam score is based on these 17 flags based on correlation (not causation) research that was done by Moz's data scientists, and it also makes the acknowledgement that there will be penalized sites with low spam , as well as non-penalized sites with a high spam score. For more context on that, I'd highly recommend that anyone looking into using spam score watch this explanation from Rand on the topic: https://moz.com/blog/understanding-and-applying-mozs-spam-score-metric-whiteboard-friday To clarify, am I advocating that http://www.penn-criminallawyers.com/ is not a spammy site based on what spam score says? Nope. I'm not even speaking to that topic at all. For all I know, it certainly could be (and maybe I'm even inclined to think it is). Am I saying that spam score is a value you should take at face value without doing any digging into the specific subdomains, themselves? Certainly not. I would stress doing serious research any time you're looking into spam, credibility or disavowing; it's simply there to serve as a potential source of guiding information. Hope this helps!

Open Site Explorer does not show my website backlinks
it is not just about links from social media that OSE fails to show, there is whole a lot of links from elsewhere, and it has got nothing to do with a "no follow" link from social media as you can get to select which back links you want to see in OSE

MOZ competitor analysis tool
Thanks Dirk. I also use moz, ahref, semrush and sometimes majestic (free versions). However in the last week I signed up to MOZ. I'm now thinking that if my main goal to analysis back-links I should probably use another service like ahrefs, as I've tested and get a lot of back-link info from. Thanks again Jon

Why Aren't All My Backlinks Appearing in Open Site Explorer?
Moz doesn't crawl everything, nor do they crawl as often as Google. You're getting a subset. You should never take OSE as the sole source of your links. Cross reference with other tools (WMT, Ahrefs, etc). OSE is designed to give you a subsection but to make sure that subsection is as data-rich as possible (note that OSE ranks your links as well).

What happened to my links in Open Site Explorer.
I have tried to ask here few times, but it is pretty hard to get any guidance on navigation issue. If you could send me some information maybe on what you charge per hour on skype consults? I totally lost in what to do with my menu navigations as I think they are a bit hot mess now. Side bar, main bar, dropdowns etc. Thanks, A

Open site explorer is giving me strange redirect message.
Hi Don, I got web guy to fix the issue. Seems it should be fixed now and I should have 301 redirects. Not sure why I still get that message in Open Site Explorer, but I have raised this with MOZ support. Thanks Don for all your help. Regards, Armands

Twitter Data Does Not Appear in Open Site Explorer
Yes, it's true of all services that used to provide Twitter numbers -- including ShareMetric, etc. Glad to see it confirmed here, though, and we're eagerly awaiting a solution!

Domain Authority and PageRank Aren't Meshing
Wow, you have a LOT of spam in your backlinks. Have you done a disavow or had a penalty with this site? I think Peter adequately answered your question - PageRank isn't an accurate measure of anything - but keep in mind that DA & PA can be manipulated as well ... with a backlink profile like yours you will probably see a higher DA than you "deserve" because DA doesn't really take spam into account nearly as much as Google does.

Open Site Explorer Messge - Mysite.com redirects to www.mysite.com
Hi Jorge, Did you managed to sort this out? I have exact same issue on my domain too. My message is like this. You entered the URL https://a-fotografy.co.uk/ which redirects to http://www.a-fotografy.co.uk/. Because it's likely to have more accurate metrics, we're showing data for the redirected URL instead. Click here to analyze https://a-fotografy.co.uk/ instead? **https://a-fotografy.co.uk/ **is my current domain. I'm not even sure why it is redirecting to my old domain. Let me know if you managed to sort your issue and I see if I should do the same. Thanks. Regards, Armands

Moz's Spam Score - WWW v Non-WWW
I would guess its related to your issue "www and the non-www versions of their websites are both in play" meaning that MOZ is crawling them both as separate sites and you will have different links going to the www version than you will the non-www version, which will give you different spam scores. It would be good to compare the link data that MOZ gives you between the two URLS, downloading the CSV of both and having them side by side in one spreadsheet might be easier, this should give you an indication of what links are causing the spam score to be higher. I would also suggest loading both www and non-www versions of your website into Google webmaster tools if you haven't done so already.

Not seeing index update for one individual campaign
Hi Joe The index updates are manually processed and are not on an automated schedule. We have a release currently in progress which you will see the updates immediately directly in OSE at moz.com/researchtools/ose and within a day the data is imported into campaigns. Hope this helps
