  • Thanks Meghan, I appreciate the feedback and I understand the need to adjust, but using domain authority as a reliable KPI is becoming increasingly difficult, particularly when the historic data between the 2 models contradict one another. These are changes we have to report out on to clients, can we expect additional roll-outs in the near future? Thanks as always!

  • In my opinion, all the keywords related to a specific search, add value to it, and the more keywords you mention related to that search, Google considers that you are covering more about that field, which is positive. In fact, I personally use to analyze the most mentioned keywords by the sites on the first positions on SERP's in Google, usually the top 10, and try to include all those keywords in the texts of my website, or a important part of them, as long as there is a natural and logical way of mention them, this includes brand keywords.

  • Hey! Thanks for contacting us! The Spam Score in the new Moz Pro Campaigns' Links feature and Link Explorer reports is quite a bit different than the previous version of Spam Score. Instead of seeing the number of flags you'll see a percentage number. This is the percentage of sites with similar features to the site you're checking that have been penalized by Google. You can read more about Spam Score on our Help Hub - including an awesome video that explains how to use the score as well as a run down of the 27 signals we use (factors) when calculating spam score: You can read more about Link Explorer metrics here  https://moz.com/help/guides/link-explorer#frequently-asked-questions Let me know if you have any other questions or if you have specific questions about your account, feel free to reach out to help@moz.com so we can take a closer look! • Hi there! Tawny from Moz's Help Team here. Thanks for writing in and sorry about the trouble! I took a look at your Site Crawl results and your site, and I believe this is a result of our crawler's inability to work with Javascript. If your site is primarily Javascript, then the data you get back with regards to the crawl report won't be completely accurate because of this. There's no real workaround that I can recommend for this one, since it is a technical limitation of our tools, but there are some good blog posts and discussions in the Q&A about this if you head over to our Help Hub. While the tools and data that rely on our crawl of your site may not return the best results because of that Javascript, your keyword rankings and link profile should work just fine. You might also want to check out a few tools that are compatible with Javascript, like Botify or Screaming Frog. I'm really sorry I can't be of more help here; I'll definitely be sure to pass this along to our Product team as feedback on your behalf. If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out to us at help@moz.com.

  • Hey there! Tawny from Moz's Help Team here. I took a look at your site in our new beta tool, Link Explorer, and it looks like we did have DA/PA scores and inbound links for this site in our new index: https://www.screencast.com/t/udJ4etEj I'd encourage you to use Link Explorer, our new tool, as we consider the data there to be much more accurate than what you would see in Open Site Explorer. I hope this helps! If you still have questions, feel free to reach out to us at help@moz.com and we'll do our best to answer any further questions you might have.

  • Hi Rand, I found myself last night explaining to my fiancee (and owner of my business) about why we'd lost some of our precious Moz DA points.  She was disappointed looking at the new metric and I assured her the below and wonder whether you could sort of give a semi official 'what to tell stakeholders' in the event of a loss of DA. This is probably a much bigger issue for agencies than in-house people. Let me assure you _I understand _that DA is a comparative metric and prefer a more accurate picture and prefer to know the real picture. Plus there's all the benefits you outline in the OP.  But I found myself saying: Dont worry - it isn't actually linked to google in any way.  A lowered DA assessment by Moz isn't going to affect our traffic, conversions or ROI.  That's a big one. We now have better data and it's not just affected us but our competitors will now have new DA scores and some are better and some are not. 3)  Nothing substantive has changed in the real world.  This is a measuring tool.  So imagine you were proud of your 40 ft yacht but then the length of 1 ft was changed to 11 inches.  Your boat would now be 'shorter' but nothing has actually changed.  Just how we measure it? Wasn't sure about that analogy. Have you a better one? Thanks.

  • Hi there! Tawny from Moz's Help Team here. Unfortunately, there's no way to compare what you see on the Dashboard for a Campaign to months past — the only options we have are Weekly and Monthly data, with the latest week or month respectively. If you wanted to compare what you see on the Dashboard over time, you would need to set up a Custom Report with the Dashboard module in it, and set that to run either every week or every month. That way you'll have a record of what those metrics said in the past, and you can compare two Custom Reports together to see change over time. I hope that helps! If you have any other questions we can help with, feel free to drop us a line at help@moz.com.

  • Sorry for any confusion here. The Spam Score in the new Links v2 and Link Explorer reports is quite a bit different than the previous version of Spam Score. A Spam Score of 28% means that 28% of sites with similar features to yours have been penalized by Google. This does not mean that your site is spammy and if you have not had any penalties I would not be concerned about that score. It is best used to judge the quality of inbound links to your site, giving you a signal to help you determine which of those links needs some further investigation for possible removal. Happy to answer any other questions about the new tool or the score - IanW@moz.com

  • Hey there! Tawny from Moz's Help Team here. After doing some quick searching, it looks like how you configure the rules for WAFs depends on what service you're using to host those firewalls. You may need to speak to their support team to ask how to configure things to allow our user-agents. Sorry I can't be more help here! If you still have questions we can help with, feel free to reach out to us at help@moz.com and we'll do our best to assist you.

  • Hey there! Tawny from Moz's Help Team here.  Unfortunately, no, Keyword Explorer can't output entire sentences instead of keywords. You can use it to check for keyword metrics or to see what keywords a site already ranks for, but there's no way to use the tool to optimize for sentences.   You may be thinking of our Page Optimization tool, but we don't have anything that is specific to the Knowledge Graph (OG) element. Sorry about that! If you still have questions or if there's anything that needs clarifying, feel free to drop us a line at help@moz.com and we'll do our best to answer all your questions.

  • First, let me say something that may sound strange coming from a Moz employee. Don't try to raise DA. DA is a proxy for your link authority, and if you get obsessed with trying to raise that score alone, you may find yourself link-building in artificial ways. This isn't unique to Moz -- I'd say the same thing about raising toolbar PR in the old days. In a broader, conceptual sense, DA attempts to measure your overall authority. Ultimately, this is a product of PA and means getting high-quality links to a variety of pages (ideally). From a pure DA perspective, that means links from high-DA domains and a diversity of domains (not thousands of links from a handful of sites). From a broader perspective -- which DA doesn't measure -- pursuerelevant links that will drive traffic and produce value. So "How do you raise domain authority?" really becomes "How do you build high-quality links?" and that's a tremendously difficult question to answer. Or, maybe better to say that the answer isn't one most people want to hear, because it's going to require a lot of time, energy, and probably money. I will add this -- don't get tunnel-vision on links from super-high-DA sites. Not every link has to be from the New York Times. Links from low DA sites that are relevant and legitimate are perfectly fine. Plus, it's going to be much easier to approach these sites and build relationships with them, especially in your own industry. Find the sites that would naturally want to link to you, because you offer something of value to them. They don't have to be mega-sites that dominate the web.

  • Hey there! Thanks for reaching out to us! When I analyse 'whatiscbd.com' I see a spam score of 2. Would you be able to write in to help@moz.com so that we can look at this further please? If possible would you also be able to send a screenshot of OSE showing your spam score as 9. One reason as to why the spam score is different between the two, is because I can see different inbound links which are only pointing to either the www version or the non www version of your site. (Regardless of whether they redirect). Looking forward to hearing from you, Eli
