Thanks for the insight. I didn't think that the ratio of likes, comments and favorites per viewer would carry so much weight, but that does seem to be the biggest glaring difference between the two. Thanks!

Hi, We are in the Information Technology space. I have decided on Google +1, Facebook, Linked In and Twitter for the time being. I am now working on setting up the content aggregator with ping.fm and hootsuite as per your response in my other question. Appreciate your feedback.

EssEEmily has fantastic advice. I haven't seen your website but it sounds like it would do best by contacting journalists directly or trying to get in touch with websites you think would run your story. As long as your have some form of credibility this will be the best method for you. Social media is great but you have to really know your target market and have realistic expectations. Again, haven't seen the website and so can't comment further. I can say that paid forms of social marketing have worked out very well to get the fire started. Buying StumbleUpon traffic usually works well. If you can dump $50 into an SU campaign it's usually money well spent. I had a lot of success with Digg a couple years back. They are starting to make somewhat of a revival so if you can keep an active account going (note: submitting and voting on many stories, not just your own) it will eventually pay off. (On a funny note: I actually got banned because my front page ratio for each story was 30% - ha! Boiled my blood because I wasn't doing anything wrong) Google News inclusion: find a resource that is similar to your own that syndicates to Google News. If there isn't one, become that resource! Look in the Google News guidelines and submit to get included. I had a buddy that ran a general news source that got me in when I needed it. Haven't messed with GN in ages though so I don't have the domain bookmarked anymore. I'll PM you if I find it, if you want? Anyway, best of luck on your campaign! And a happy Friday to you!

Just of the top of my head, get a expert in the field to answer questins on the forum for a night. If you dont have many users, aim low to start with. Once you get a bit happaning then you will gain links from people linking to posts.

All right, I will answer a couple of your questions (i'll just speak from my personal experience) #1 you can use a Wordpress plugin or theme to get a "jump start" on developing a forum. Here is a premium plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/qa/screenshots/ that allows you to vote on questions (quora/sack over flow style). If you are looking for a good Wordpress theme, I would check out the theme from elegantthemes.com #2 Q&A definitely works for B2B. The benefit is that people who visit your website will add to your site's SEO! #3 To run parallel forum/blog posts at the same time, you have to offer an incentive for using the forum. I would suggest you watch this webinar about Gamification.  At seomoz Q&A you get points for answering questions ( as long as you get thumbs up. lol) A lot of forums will give you a link... basically, people need some benefit from participating. #4 Make sure your Q&A forum is indexable and crawlable... Thanks for the feedback Ryan. It's true things could've changed. I was just curious if anyone had done any tests one way or the other. I think I'll go with continuing to build up our Facebook brand page community, although building likes on the URL is tempting and seems like something Google will count in the future if they don't now... Anyone else have any input or experience with rankings improving because of likes on a URL or FB brand page?

Yes, it was OnlineSuperSeller for us too.  I sent a notice to Sears at seller_support@searshc.com requesting removal of our products.  They responded within an hour.  OnlineSuperSeller responded soon after that. A related problem is all the YoutTube spam.  Spammers are using our product images to make the most hideous slide show videos with a link to our products on Amazon.  I'm beginning to think Amazon Merchant is far more branding and SEO headache than it is worth. Not sure if back links from sites like hub pages carry the same weight anymore. IMO Google has gotten wise to article spamming to generate back links. Personally I would concentrate on producing great content and articles on your own site. Give people a reason to link to the site

At the end of each blog post/article remind your readers to follow you on twitter. This work wonders. Another cool way is to pay by tweets. If you provide a downloadable resource on your website, then make it available only after tweeting about it. Make sure that your twitter button recommends to follow you, if a visitors is not already following you. With the passage of time you will get many followers.

In general, the latest thinking regarding link building says your goal is to ultimately build a relationship with site owners that lead naturally to links and other collaboration.

Thanks for the response dvtruong, regarding the content, we haven't got anything to put out at the moment because we want to make sure it's worthwhile before kicking it off. It'll be something loan/finance related, so the creative caps will need to come out. How did you go about finding the top bloggers in your industry? I'm sure I could round up a few, but I'd love to find more
