  • Use "og:url" with URL of the page itself and "og:description" to take description from the individual pages. After Google released rel="next" and rel="prev", usage of canonical for non identical pages is not advisable.

  • Hi Robert Apologies for the late reply. beena  crazy few days here in South Africa well lets put this into context. Having a Facebook presence and advertising on facebook using a PPC or CPM campaign are two different entities. I agree, from my experience, advertising a product for lead generation on Facebook for instance has been a waste of time and doesd not convert well at all to sales. I feel generally facebook users are there to have fun and pass the time rather than look for great deals and buy things. However, Facebook and using Facebook advertsfor branding and general brand awereness is pretty powerfull. Imagine the ripple effect of having 1000 users, who view your status and actually like it or comment or view it a few times. This gets fed into on to their wall and is seen by another 100 friends. So potentially you can reach 100 000 people with minimum effort. Once again, you arent selling anything but you are building your brand awerness. Zero cost, all to gain. All networks have their pro's and con's. You need to find what is important for the long term benift of your client and then strategise from their. perform your own tettst and start compiling data for that particular client on social media platforms. I hope that this helps youa  little more

  • Thanks Casey! The PHP script referenced in the link you provided worked for the initial comment, but not my reply.  Take a look at the source vs. the iframe displayed on the following: http://www.jwsuretybonds.com/info/videos/l1-what-are-surety-bonds.htm Also, I used CSS rather than a JQuery to hide style="display:none"> Will Google be ok with this or am I asking for a penalty?

  • Everything sounds good, save for the Build My Rank portion. On their How It Works section of their site (http://www.buildmyrank.com/how-it-works) it says "We publish your article randomly on 1 of our high page rank, aged domains. You control how many articles are published daily for each of your domains." They only require 150 words for articles, so it seems you're looking at a ten sites with collections of random short articles.

  • Hi Randy I think the most basic thing would be to find out if you have a blog for this contest setup already or not? I guess you would, so drawing up a well constructed post for this blog would be a priority. Do all the bells and whistles on this post release and make sure that you are connected to various blogging publishing platforms that form part of a network which shares you content in a  non-threatening way. added to this, look at using a system like twitterfeed. Twitterfeed is a great way to share content across many social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook and much much more with the click of a button. The moment you post it, its gets shared across many. I have setup one of my blogs to spread news across over 150 platforms. I would also recommend contacting some top bloggers and sending them mail, to see if they can promote it. get the big boys involved and the rest will fall into place. lastly, remember to get a badge up for your users. Let them grab it when participating in your comp. Nice little wayt of getting some links back. of course its not the best way but does help Hope this helped a wee bit. Stef

  • Hi Keri, No luck with any other tools, unfortunately. It's still something on the to-do list. Ryan's comment is helpful but still a lot of manual work involved unfortunately. Victor

  • Just ensure your redirects are setup and that you have proper 404 page in case you miss any 301's so that google handles everything properly. It shouldn't be a big deal though.

  • Yes, do it. It helps twofold. First: pages linked to in twitter were almost instantly crawled and indexed. Secondly: Twitter / FB Shares and G+ all create links, thus generating a little buzz signaling google that your site is still active. Just ask a few friends to share the links / retweet now and then. Especially FB shares are more valuable then likes. I am pretty sure, that these signals will help a lot in the near future. Esp. Bing uses FB data already.

  • Greg - That actually is a great suggestion. We've used FB questions in the past for feedback on flavors and recipes. It is my fall back solution if I cannot find an apps that a) Allows photos b) Allows a link to individual "recipe" pages Unfortunately, for now FB questions doesn't offer this sort of functionality. Thanks for the suggestion though!
