  • Hello Champion! I see a lot of people having problems with this, and if you realize a simple truth the rewards of Facebook with be plentiful. You can not directly market as you have figured out because people go to Facebook to have fun or be at a party. You can't be "That Guy/Chick" at the party that ruins it for everyone, you have to be suave, chill and relaxed to get the "prey" eating out of your hand. Do things like, take pictures around work, post them on the Facebook. During company events show your employees having fun, put faces behind your company. People will look at your company more with those simple signals of "Hey we are people" and "We like to have fun just like you". You should easily start to generate traffic if you target friend requests based of the Niche you are selling to. IE if I am selling pokemon cards my Facebook account would have pictures of me wearing my pokemon badges, or hanging out with friends at Pokemon card tournaments, or pictures of pokemon to get the people looking at my Facebook going oh snap these guys are legit. Then if they are looking to buy cards they will already have my company or myself in their head and will naturally go with what they are most familiar with when they look for a supplier of pokemon cards. Be friendly and open, you will see what it can offer :D. Good luck on the Quest for the First page Champion! Justin Smith

  • This is a messy way of doing it in my opinion and will cause you plenty of cross browser issues. But... You can create a background image for the overall div then create a new div inside of it for the like button and use z-index to float it above and simply use margin-left and margin-top to position it. Problem solved If stuck use a css/html forum to ask about the specific code.

  • You could do it as a blog; I am guessing there is a wordpress plugin or theme to create a directory. But I would be more inclined to use something like PHP Link Directory. It is easy to install and they have a great support  forums. You can also have articles on the site, which can add to content. I have a general, paid directory here made with PHPLD: Arabule.  Note the articles at the right, but you will find lots of better examples of directories.

  • Thanks everyone for your help. We can't host it on our server at the current time, sorry if I was unclear about that. I have been searching and have found that Pagemodo will probably work for us. I'm still deciding. Thanks again!

  • Hi I would go for four Social networking sites: 1. LinkedIn 2. Facebook 3. Twitter 4. Google + I am not really engaging myself into others, but you can build very valuable relations on these in your area. I hope someone will include other Social networks in the list to.

  • If Google robot can crawl this page and index it then of course it will be treated like any other page and the content will be count as duplicated. Let him at least to rewrite it.

  • The ideal scenario is that there is a 1:1 relationship between the author and a google plus page. This creates a link relationship that google trusts in order to trust that a particular person is the author of a piece of content. This article explains it really well: http://www.hanselman.com/blog/EmbraceAuthorshipTheImportanceOfRelmeAndRelauthorOnYourContentsSEOAndGoogle.aspx

  • SEOmoz only has one API that provides access to their Linkscape index - it does not include social data such as Like's, +'s and Tweets. Also, it seems like you have development resources available to utilize the APIs of the major social platforms.  Have you considered going straight to the source? Facebook OpenGraph API - http://developers.facebook.com/ Google+ API - https://developers.google.com/+/api/ Twitter API - https://dev.twitter.com/docs

  • Make a LinkedIN group centered around your product/products chain and don't promote your business, just talk about Marketing and SEO tactics, be friendly. Basically this http://www.seomoz.org/blog/5-ways-to-prime-the-social-pump . Dr. Pete proved he is a champion of social media with this post. Use the big Boys like Facebook and Twitter, just be sincere to your audience and don't spam, and you should be fine friend. Good Luck on the quests! Justin Smith

  • You have quite a bit of activity already on your Facebook page, so I would just link your website over to your profile. Also, I would suggest creating a Facebook specific conversion page on your website, and iframing it into a Facebook tab.  That way you can still collect contact info/email addresses to continue to market to people. I can't remember the exact size of the iframe, but its something like 520px wide, but the suggested size is 480px in order to fit a scroll bar in the window.
