  • It's the same link as Public Q&A, but you can request a private question under the "Privacy" section at the bottom. PRO members get a monthly allotment: http://www.seomoz.org/q/ask Unfortunately, we can't "move" a question from Public to Private.

  • i wouldn't use nofollow in that case either. link juice is no longer preserved by using nofollow, so other than sites "not trusted" or links that are "paid for" (as stated by EGOL), i no longer see other reasons to use them. i just can't think of an advantage here. and if you don't want pages like privacy policy etc. indexed, you'd better go with meta robots "noindex".

  • That's an impressive looking report, thanks for the tip Sadly not quite what I meant, as far as I can see. (probably my weak explanation - sorry!) It shows what people did after they visited our page, do you know of any source of info that can tell us who liked the page, or shared the page to get the traffic, or is FB a black box?

  • First off, social media for pest control companies isn't nearly as sexy as social media for a taco stand. So any ideas of glitter and glamor are going to be as helpful as a rainbow colored unicorn. Just wanted to get that off my chest before diving in here. How I see social media as a pest control guy: 1- Maintaining conversations about interesting pest control subjects. 2- Building relationships with current customers. 3- Building relationships with current employees. On Facebook after establishing a fan base you can use paid advertising to friends of fans, using fans as endorsements. But don't expect huge returns here. It's more building awareness and trust. You will most likely not see Facebook as a last touch for sales. And it's hard to track the first touch. Funny videos can build links, but I wouldn't consider them great for building trust. I prefer the class nerd image over the class clown image. Nerds are allowed to make jokes, but your know for being smart, not for being funny. Lastly, check out http://www.familyownedpestcontrol.org we have just launched this lead sharing network, no cost to you. And if you want to guest post on blogpestcontrol.com I could probably get you in.

  • The main benefit is that it allows you to control the image, url, title, and description that gets posted on FB.

  • I am still using it on all of my sites... getting hundreds of actions per day.  Works great - but I have very few canonical problems.

  • Hello Jason, Scrapers can always remove your G+ profile image and link, but if you add it to all of your articles and your site has your own profile page and you link the G+ profile to your own profile page, at least google will know that you are real and you are claiming ownership of the content. It is too soon to tell if this is the answer, but it is what google says and it is what we are doing. Here is a short video I made to explain how to do it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccVX2q_nbGo

  • Hi! Unfortunately there is only one layout for Facebook business pages now and it's the timeline format. I would use your Facebook page to help you rank for your name and branded terms and to grow your community, get your content out, etc. However, I wouldn't specifically focus the page for ranking for other terms. For SEOmoz we've gone back and started adding milestones from the company's past to the timeline which shows a fuller picture of the company as a whole. I also like the fact that you can pin a post to stay at the top of the page which will help if you run ads and point to your page. Hope this helps a bit. Jen

  • No, Facebook content doesn't get indexed. Take a look at the SEOmoz Facebook page's cached, text version from google: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:chzSCnphy10J:www.facebook.com/SEOmoz&hl=en&gl=us&strip=1. The only content from the whole page is this: SEOmoz is on Facebook. To connect with SEOmoz, sign up for Facebook today.32,806 likes · 1,117 talking about thisSEO Software, tools and tutorials. • Hi! A while back Tom Critchlow wrote a great post on how to use tools and APIs to gather Social Media data, I think this would help you out: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-to-track-your-social-media-strategy. Check out the post then scroll down to the part about using Google docs to connect to APIs. I think you should be able to do the same thing for your site if you have some sort of feed for your products. Hope this helps! Jen

  • Links friom facebook and twitter are no-follow, they have no SEO value. they provide a bit of traffic, but i doubt it.

  • Hi Utah Tiger, I believe you're referring to KnowEm. The site lets you have them create social media accounts for you, rather than you doing the signing up to each one yourself. I don't believe they offer any tools to USE all of those sites, just to sign up for them. I haven't used them myself, but KnowEm does have a good reputation.
