  • They do say to contact them if you're looking for one of the other systems, Jonny. Might well be worth an email to see if you could try out a beta version of the JS. (if you're into messing with beta stuff) Glad you found it helpful Paul

  • Thank you to you both. Agreed that testing is really the only way to know. I doubt that the pagespeed is going to be significantly impacted by the logo alone...but we won't know until we try it. Then we can decide which way to go.

  • I have never used it but try implementing the Smart Paging module + Tokens - http://drupal.org/project/smart_paging

  • Although content in iframes is sometime crawled, link value does not pass from your website to the content or links within the iframe. So no, including content in an iframe will not confer any SEO value to the domain hosting the iframed content.

  • Hey Highland. Thanks for taking the time to answer. I use Magento all the time. I remember how slow it was in 2008 when I 1st started using it. I value your comment "The key to our simplicity is copious documentation (inside and outside the code)." I think this is the main problem we had run into before and my fear is that the current programmer is the only one who understands his own work. We trust the guy with all the information, but he's so slow at getting things done that I sometimes want to get him some assistance. But that new person may have to decipher everything. I have taken some courses in PHP, but I don't code because I'm the one bringing in all the money to the company via internet. I don't have the time to code, although I would love to do it myself. "Life is too short for Java." LOL

  • Don't change a URL just because it is htm instead of html. That change will have ZERO positive impact.  ZERO.

  • And in this case, "can't" is not only dev code, but marketing code also. They are so afraid of change here...but I get that, we are successful too. And just my saying "hey, we have the worst case scenario for SEO right now" is not always enough...they want more opinions. Which is why this Q&A feature of SEOMoz is awesome! Thanks again for your thoughtful responses.

  • Hello Echo, If you are finding that there is demand for a mobile version of your website you should definitely reconsider your approach and think about adding mobile specific content. If your customers are buying on the move, they're certainly browsing on the move. While you shouldn't shift focus on directing your customers to your products you could also provide a secondary avenue for them by a way of content to engage them and increase the overall profile of your site. Of course, this comes at an expense so that is for you to judge. If you are using client user-agent detection (and it sounds like you are) to direct visitors to your m.site there should be no down-site in terms of SEO because of the redirect. Inbound links won't redirect as they are not detected by the user-agent. If you are sure there is no duplicate content (you might want to double check your product pages etc for this) then it shouldn't be _necessary _to "link" them. The m.site won't benefit in any significant way from linkbuilding you make to the desktop site as the m.site sits on a subdomain. Without any content, however, it's unlikely your m.site will ever rank anyway so this point is moot. Given the above, I would keep the m.site blocked unless you want to seek an improvement to it. K

  • Thanks yes we love the trendy business industries.  It takes you out of the boring typical industry designs and gives us a little more flexibility with the design and functionality.

  • My guess is that it would either be a setting or a plugin for your forum script of choice. Basically, it would consider googlebot a logged in user and display all the forum threads/replies.

  • I'd agree with everyone else on doing 'Services' in the Nav with cities dropping down. However, the URL thing is irrelevant to how you want to do your Nav. It sounds like you're thinking to do the Nav you have to do pages and sub pages -- not the case at all. It's 2013! Wordpress 3.0! Appearance >> Menus >> Build your menu however you'd like and drop in the pages as desired.

  • Yes I think microdata would help a lot in this case, and once you have a template setup it really takes no time at all to implement!

  • Hi James, That will probably do it. If you want to avoid having to fiddle with the paging code etc check out something like (grabbed the first link I saw) http://www.jquery4u.com/function-demos/ajax/ Loading content with ajax/jquery is pretty straightforward

  • I'm never super-comfortable linking off Moz but if you want to, go Google data-centric 404 You'll find a great post from SEL that talks about finding which 404 error pages to keep. I would apply a similar methodology to finding which "old" pages to keep and which to redirect generally or just let go.
