I am not seeing any measurable results from Google + In my opinion a Google + button is a waste of page real estate - at least for the topics that my sites are about.

build one site for both browser and mobile. you can use the viewport meta tag and css, to detect the screen size and different css will take over. @media only screen and (max-width: 850px) {       csss for mobile } This has been recomeneded by Bing as they found that sites made just for mobiles do not rank or generate much traffic. Highland, I read this and went to do a bit of research regarding whether or not Google would ban an entire IP address.... Well I found nothing, either way. Typical Google. But, I think you are right and that I may have spread an urban myth or at least something that became an urban myth.  So, I agree, I do not think the entire IP address would be banned to begin with. Thanks that's helpful, I don't normally have dupe content so will check but dupe content doesn't usually mean de-listing in my experience. when you say similar template, my sites are on standard w/p 2011, what's wrong with that, thousands of sites like that .... Still doesn't add up to me ...other sites with lots more content and definitely original also effected - your comments on http://www.courtservices.org.uk/ would really be appreciated. Thanks Paul, I understand what you're saying, although I don't believe that applies to my question. The search was not done on companies. It was a general and broad real estate search. The related searches listed all are real estate related to the initial search performed. Except for 1 single related search, which displays the company name of a competitor. I've also seen this competitor do this on Bing & Yahoo, for another website they have, which does not rank for the search term, yet appears as a related search. For example - go to Bing.com. Type in the search "ulster county real estate" - now look to the left at the related searches - See "Fitzgerald Real Estate" - that's the same competitor. Some how, he is able to reach these related searches. See screen shot....... LaMdo.jpg

Just a quick tip. I wouldn't blindly post product links all over your social media platforms just for the sake of 'trying to affect your ranking' as more than likely it will come off quite spammy. I would probably focus on more creative strategies of getting people to either share or +1 your posts and pages through unique content, competitions etc. I imagine in the long run it would have much more positive implications for your main page's ranking.

Hi We see the extreme raise in the duplicate content of our site too. If the sensitivity is adapted, will these graphs come down again? What is your opinion on how Google sees a webshop with lot's of products and filter options? Our site www.dmlights.com/massive for example can have a lot of filtering but we try to counter this in Webmaster Tools with the URL parameters. Do you suggest to adapt this for good seo? Wondering about your opinions. Thanks.

That's a good reminder: that PR is really only a measure of backlinks. I just wonder how many backlinks is the threshold to get PR4? I supposed to can study some PR4 sites and see if I find a pattern there. 894 unique domains linking to me I suppose is qualifying me for a PR3? Almost 1 million links from those domains combined. I'm not sure how I have almost 1 million links from 894 domains. It's possible someone is linking to me from half a million pages somewhere. I'll have to study it more. But yes, you are right also that my main focus is profit, then sales, then traffic and conversions. It's just that having high PR will bring me more traffic which will bring me more sales, so I'm trying to increase this. I didn't realize that PR is 1 out of 200 metrics involved. I thought it was more like 1 of 4 or something. Thanks for the advice.

Actually, Google often changes title tags, especially based on the query. They've been doing this for a couple of years now.

No, you can't actually tell or suggest to Google directly which sitelinks it should use. You can tell it which site links not to use, and hope that it chooses another instead. In Google Webmaster Tools under Site Configuration > Sitelinks there is an option to "demote" specific sitelinks that you don't think should appear. Sometimes Google replaces it with another sitelink, sometimes Google just removes it, and sometimes Google decides to ignore your request. But for getting new ones on there, the best you can do is make sure that the most important pages are linked to from your site's global navigation, and make sure there aren't too many not-most-important pages in the global navigation to confuse Google.

The descriptions you see in the SERPS are tweaked, changed and snippets of text from your page are used and what gets displayed depends on the user's query. Lets say your page is ranking for two keywords. Red Widgets and Blue Widgets. If Google thinks your Meta description is related to Red Widget's, they will use it. For Blue Widgets, if they find something else on the page that might be better, they'll use that.

I'll give you that - it's true that the result highlighting alone doesn't prove Google is viewing "shop ipad" as 2 words for ranking purposes. The tough part is separating out why these pages rank - I've seen plenty of URLs with underscores rank perfectly well, but there's no way to prove it isn't on other factors. I think we're generally agreeing, though, that the potential risks probably outweigh what would probably be a very small boost at best. I'm also a little hesitant on having some pages with dashes and some with underscores, but that's probably just the UX side of me - it feels messy.

Its just google and its hitting all section of the site equally. Most keywords drop by a number of places and then bounce back. They did this a number of times, but haven't yet bounced up again.

@JustDucky We recently migrated to a data center and the average loading time dropped from ~4 seconds to ~0.9. I to noticed only 1-2% drop in bounce rate. It seems only that many people were turned off by the loading times. Then again 1-2% can be anything. @John O'Haver I would invest the time simply because ~3.4 is the average value. This means that sometimes it goes up to 10 or even more. Take a look at your analytics account and see the performance per country. Also, I've been benchmarking analytics with remote monitoring solutions and I find a discrepancy of about 30% (probably due to limited sample date from analytics). I don't want to advertise any available solutions, but trying one won't hurt. You may find your times to be better (I hope).
