With the recent announcement of Googles new Knowledge Graph, the SERP will be different.  Will this present a new set of SEO best practices?

Over the past month or so I have noticed that Google is not using the meta description for my pages but is instead pulling text from the actual page to show on the SERP.  Is Google placing less emphasis on meta descriptions?

If you do a google search for "iqms automotive brochure" you will see the page title is: Automotive Expertise-IQMS

In my weekly crawl report I suddenly have a huge number of title not found and missing page descriptions errors for all of my pdf files.  The pdfs do have a page title (defined in the file/properties tab) However these page titles are not being picked up by the crawler or google.  Any ideas how do I fix this?  ( I am using the Adrobat 9 Distiller)

Today Google announced

"Previously we reported the average position of all URLs from your site for a given query. As of today, we’ll instead average only the top position that a URL from your site appeared in."

Will this affect SEOMoz reports in any way?

I just need them removed from the SEOMoz campaign reports.

I have a couple of urls that are associated with the keywords in my campaign.  They are no longer valid so how do I remove them?

Unfortunately we have off-site links that point to directory/index.html

I understand that it is possible to create a 301 redirect for www.mysite..com/index.html to www.mysite.com. (as well as subdirectories.)  How is this accomplished?  My hosting company says that setting this up in htaccess will  cause "Apache to geti into an infinite loop and the page won’t load."  I have read on the forum that this is possible.  Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

A while back I had asked our hosting company to create 301 redirects in the htacces file for the same issue (www.mysite.com/index.html to www.mysite.com, www.mysite.com/products/index.html to www.mysite.com/products/ .....)  THe response I received was "redirecting .../index.html to ..../ won’t work.  They’re the same page.  Apache will get in an infinite loop and the page won’t load. "

Any help would be greatly appreciated since I have 36 instances of this happening on our site.
