Domain Authority Just Wont Budge
Although EGLO is right! The DA and PA has nothing to do with your website rankings and I literally seen examples where a website with more DA and PA are ranking lower than the one with less DA and PA. But if you want theory why your DA is stuck to one place or has gone down so the easiest answer to this will be because of the Moz.com’s index update. Hope this helps!

Republish An Updated Blog or not?
I spend about 1/3 of my time improving the content on a long-established site. Articles are made current, more substantive, new data, updated graphs , additional Images. I often see an almost immediate improvement in rankings. These are not just tweaks to a few sentences. They are major rewrites. An article of 1000 words and three images might get a new introduction that hits topics in the news and two or three new subheadings and two additional images and an updated data table. Rankings can go up within a couple of weeks.

Thank you I will try the things you suggest and see if this helps. Its just so strange that it just dropped, had a huge spike and then dropped again. I will start thinking more carefully about our link structure KSF0lIQ

How can I submit a reconsideration request while not having any manual action?
Yes, earlier it was possible, but not now. And you don't have to appeal for reconsideration if you have not received a message for manual spam from Google.

Yahoo went secure recently which means the referrer data will be skewed. Read more: http://searchengineland.com/yahoo-search-goes-secure-182343

Did .org vs. .com SEO importance recently changed?
I've seen no evidence of a boost in .org or any other TLD vs another lately. We have a couple thousand clients to compare and while new sites seem to be doing better than old but .org doesn't seem to be ahead of .com in any meaningful way. I would definitely not change just for a .org but if it makes more sense, brand the correct way for your business.

Should my canonical tags point to the category page or the filter result page?
Hi Daniel, You've gotten some good responses to your question. Do you have any additional questions or comments you would like to add?

Is Moz Domain Authority still relvant when it comes to Google ranking?
In our last Ranking Factors Correlation study, Domain Authority had a 0.29 correlation, which is one of the stronger correlations we measure. The strongest metric, Page Authority, showed a .39 correlation. The idea of Domain Authority is that comparing 2 websites... all other things being equal... one is more likely to rank than the other. A significant portion of the weighting factors in Domain Authority is links. As Google shifts the significance of links, this changes. But as you've observed, in the real world things are rarely equal. Moz is also working on spam scoring to help us better discount links that Google may likely be ignoring. Interestingly, with all the talks about links and Google, what's surprising is how important links still are. Metrics like DA and PA haven't changed that much in their ability to gauge ranking potential. Perhaps someday we'll need new signals. For now they are still reliably useful.

International foreign language SEO questions
Hi! First of all I strongly suggest you to check this wonderful deck on Slideshare by Fernando Maciá. That deck will answer many questions your asking. Then: Can you do SEO yourself if you are a native English speaker for a language you don't speak (like Chinese)? No! You cannot. Consider to hire a native interpreter to help you, if not a good native SEO 2) How do you go about doing keyword research for a foreign language? What tools are available? As Lynn said, Adwords Keyword Planner and (Google Trends) are a good start. But I would use these tools by Baidu, which is the most used search engine in China: Baidu Keyword Tool ; Baidu Index (equivalent to Google Trends) The best is using all three... and for that you need a native Chinese speaking person. In this article you can find useful tips and links about keyword search in Chinese. 3) How do you know what search engines you should optimize for in a different country? Use StatCounter.com for understanding what search engines are used in a specific country. The short answer is: Google is worldwide used and substantially dominant in every country Baidu in China is dominant Yandex in Russia is dominant Seznam is not dominant in the Czech Republic as it was once, but it still owns about the 20% of the search market share Naver (47%) and Google (44%) dominate in South Korea In Japan the 35% of the Internet users search on Yahoo! About SEo for Baidu you can check this guide, which is not perfect but could be considered a good start (aka: do your homework too!). About SEO for Yandex, I suggest you to dig into this site by Anna Oshkalo. And don't forget to read everything of the Webmasters' Guidelines of Yandex itself. As far as SEO for Japan, this essential guide can be a considered a good primer. About Naver, check this great starter post on WebCertain.

Should we use brand name of product in URL
Agree with Brady & Adam on this one. Each great responses. I'll just add that, for the most part, the URL should be for the user first and then the search engine. A lot of times brands have funk looking URLs that have numbers and symbols in them - not user friendly. So, I'd recommend adding your descriptive keyword/producA/B/C into the URL if it'll help the user understand your product and navigate your site better Hope this helps!

Yahoo & Bing algorithm changes?
I've noticed some serious changes on Bing and Yahoo SERPS for my company in the last month. Not sure if this is what you experienced. Our traffic hasn't really decreased, but our tracked keywords have dropped off for some reason or another.

A few sitemap questions
If the tool is listing those URLs with and without the slash I guess you are linking to those pages with and without the ending slash. You should check your site and remove the one that shouldn't be there. Also, check if the "wrong" version redirects to the "correct" one or at least has the "correct" URL in the canonical tag. The lastmod should be the date that the page was last modified, however, most sitemap generators don't know when that was so they just use the timestamp and a changefreq daily to tell Google basically that they need to scrape the page everyday. In most cases, that's not the case as the page remains the same for years, but that won't hurt you at all as Google has its own methods to verify if a page has changed and "learn" how often your site/page updates that it needs to re-scrape it. Hope that helps!

Im I being hit by hummingbird?
Hey Doug, First off thanks for the great answer and useful links. Our organic traffic has been hurting the last two months. When I checked webmaster tools I had no messages and when I checked the links to your site it is saying no data available. Anything you would suggest to try? Thanks again

All keywords increasing rank except URL Keyword, whats going on?
Google prioritizes results that they consider more valuable. Imagine someone looking for a private equity firm database, they WON'T type private equity firms, as those who enter that are either looking for the meaning of "private equity firms" or news about "private equity firms". Google might have ranked you on top for some time, but after the release of hummingbird, everything changed, now Google tries to "understand" what you are thinking, what you are looking for and present the best possible results, not only based on the query itself, but also taking into account search history, habits, etc. You should also consider that your Website, compared to the others shown for that specific query, has a very low domain and page authority. Plus it lacks of any kind of social signals.

Website Recovery
This question is one that probably can't be answered without a thorough investigation. But, what I have seen is that sites definitely can recover form algorithmic issues or manual penalties. However, the most important factor in whether a site will recover is if the site has a good base of good natural links when the unnatural ones are taken away. You may be looking at multiple issues. If the duplicated content is truly an issue then there may be issues with the Panda algorithm. If the bad links are truly an issue then Penguin could be the culprit. For either of these, recovery involves completely fixing the issues and then waiting till the next refresh of each algorithm. Penguin refreshes sporadically. It could be 1 month or 6 before the next refresh. Panda tends to refresh monthly although Google no longer announces the refreshes. IMO the first place to start is to determine which algorithms likely affected the site and work on that first. If there is a drop in organic traffic coincidental with a known Penguin refresh date then the links need to be cleaned up. You'll need to do a very thorough audit and disavow everything self made.

Page 2 to page 1
Yes, that's probably fair to say, although, in a lot of niches, you'll need more than just some of one or the other--it can take a lot of both.
