  • I don't have the exact figures, I know Facebook has more visitors per month than Google, 90% of people searching use google, If i remember Google's US count is lower than 50%. Some other quick stats: Facebook has 60 million status updates a day, If Facebook was a country it would be the 3rd largest in the world. Youtube has over 100 hours of video uploaded a minute, Wikipedia has 1781 articles a hour added.

  • Hi! I've asked for another associate with more Panda experience than I to come in and comment on this question. Byork, knowing a little more about your trailing slash issue could help out. Do you have trailing slash redirects in place for all of your pages? Were they put in at a particular time, where you might be able to look at data from just after that date? If the trailing slashes are in place correctly and always have been, and it's just some weird artifact of GA that is causing these pages to show up with 0 visits, can you ignore those pages that don't have the trailing slash and focus just on the metrics for those with the trailing slash?

  • One of my websites got knocked off the first page. Another website got listed on the first page. We believe Panda is rewarding sites that are optimized, updated and continually improved using white hate best practices. We are confident that in the long run, Panda is making it a level playing field for legitimate websites.

  • Thanks again Ryan. Yer, we can't seem to see any issues either, maybe we just need to wait and build up links to them...

  • I think we are presently in a "too new to tell" stage. It also seems this is a metric which will be watched very closely by Google and may be adjusted multiple times this year. With that said, intuitively the weighting style would be similar to a link. Would you prefer a link to your home page or to a deeper page? The same logic should apply.

  • Actually, bounce rate would be of a concern to search engines, at least for visits that originate from the search engine. The SEs want the users to have a good experience, and if a user clicks on a result and then comes right back to the results page, the SEs may feel that the user did not have a good experience with that result and maybe a different result for that query should be shown.

  • Hello James. We have done some controlled studies which do show a positive impact in rankings for particular pages within the website when based on a very controlled, or tight taxonomy. I believe this is because of the ability to develop internal links to pages that might not receive a large number of internal links in the website. Additionally, since these pages are in the breadcrumb but likely not linked from other places within the general template, first link attribution is a factor. Also, it is important to understand the impact of breadcrumbs on conversions. There are numerous studies which show the positive impact of site stickiness and metrics like bounce rate, TOS and conversion rate from well defined and helpful breadcrumbs. What's good for the user is generally good for the search engine. Best, Todd

  • Oh that would be evil, especial just after another update. Would certainly keep SEO's on their toes, and cause me to pull out more hair trying to rationalize some of the things I have seen over the past week.

  • thank you for that. i am going to send a number of articles to free article sites but it is trying to find a good article site to do this. in the past when i have done this i have found that many people use my articles but they never put the link to the article to my site which is a big let down.
