  • Hey Michael, I've found some other threads about the same issue. You can check them, maybe it could help: https://moz.com/community/q/how-long-will-404-errors-show-in-webmaster-tools-search-console https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/webmasters/hupstYVfBzo Best, Martin

  • Thanks for the pointers on things to focus on. Mainly, site architecture, linkbait, and responsiveness! Really appreciate your response. As mentioned to Donald, do you have any good suggestions on articles/videos/blogs I should follow?

  • Hey there, Regarding the tools, I've checked one particular keyword in MOZ, SEMrush, Ahrefs and Searchmetrics - all tools are in the full paid subscription. The tools show results as follows: MOZ: 11.5k - 30.3k SEMrush: 22.2K Ahrefs: 14K Searchmetrics: 24,295 So in this case, the last result from Searchmetrics seems to be the most accurate one. However, data from MOZ cover all the range. In my opinion, the best way would be to count the average of the search volumes from all the tools (which could be a bit time consuming, I know). Hope it helps. Cheers, Martin

  • Hey there, Sure, you can. You'll give this page higher importance. For example, look at the homepage of MOZ. On the homepage, there are three links to the Product page - in the main navigation, in the body and in the footer. You can do the same. Hope it helps. Cheers, Martin

  • Ok. Im pretty sure I've decided to do it. Sounds like its going to be a lot of work, but better in the long run. Please let me know if you have any thoughts to contribute to this.

  • There's a lot of: Error Code 804: HTTPS (SSL) Error Encountered And a fair bit of duplicate content since a lot of pages have been setup but not yet populated with content.

  • Thank you for replying. Backlinks are the issue and this is the main reason I got external SEO agency to step in. They are working specifically on link building. Is there any way to do a "health check" for keyword spamming? I already removed a lot of those, but selling fascinators it is difficult not to use the word a lot. And yes, I looked at competition also -- In mot respects I beleive my site is a better fit, but Google obviously thinks otherwise for some reason. Rudolf

  • Thank you very much for your response. After more research today and looking around the Q&A's on MOZ I thought that must be the best strategy. You response has confirmed that! Thank you again. I'm just really surprised that documentmanagementsoftware was ranking no.6 in February 2017... was there google updates that caused that to drop?

  • Hello Gavo. Yes! It is a problem for Google. Just make a 301 redirection to the HTTPS and problem solved! Best luck! GR.

  • Hi Logan, I've read the MOZ guide but it doesn't answer one question and I cannot find an answer anywhere else... Can hreflang tags be used to specify just ONE country (eg. "en-au"), or does it only work as an alternative to another language/region variation?

  • our dev team has requested to 302 initially and then 301 as the final solution. Could this cause a problem for the temporary 302?

  • Hey Becky, Those pages will be found by Google if you have links pointing to them somewhere on your site. In terms of crawl budget, the more page depth the more time does Google need to spend on crawling your site. However, with proper internal linking you should be able to significantly lower the amount of clicks. So the next step would be adding some links through relevant anchor texts. After you do this, watch the analytics and let me know if it had any impact. Hope it helps. Cheers, Martin

  • Hi, Please check reply of Dr peter in similar thread, hope you will get your answer. If you haven't yet, please see my follow-up post: http://moz.com/blog/new-title-tag-guidelines-preview-tool This is a moving target, and it's actually a pixel width (512px), but I tried to take a data-driven approach, and as best I can measure, 55 characters is a safe limit about 95% of the time. I will add that Google definitely processes characters beyond that limit (some are even in the source code) and words beyond that limit could count toward ranking. They won't count much, I strongly suspect, but this new limit doesn't mean you automatically have to cut everything shorter. There's certainly no penalty for going over, as long as you're not keyword-stuffing to extremes. One down side is that the new method (using CSS for the cut-off) means that Google now cuts mid-word, instead of between words. This could be more detrimental to CTR, in my opinion. It's very situational, though. The best I can say is to look at your most important title tags in the context of real searches and make your own judgment call. Hope this helps. Thanks

  • You are not at risk for being removed from Google's search index. In fact, Google has recently adjusted their stance on hidden content and no longer ding sites for having it **IF **it's done for the benefit of UX, specifically mobile device UX. Here's a recent statement from Google's Gary Illyes on the subject: https://www.seroundtable.com/google-content-tabs-hidden-change-22950.html Review the layout and functionality of these pages, if you believe it's helpful for UX, then stick with it. You could also run a test where you take a sample of your category pages and unhide the content by default to see if they perform better.

  • The problem is finally resolved. We rewrote some main content on the homepage + changed the menu, so the 2 websites look different now. We had to wait again a few weeks for Google to update, but since today, it's back ok. Thanks for the help.

  • Anything ever come of this, folks? Just noticed this about our website (https://www.google.com/#&q=related:epicwebstudios.com), but also noticed MOZ now has related sites appearing. So does Thom's Handiramp site. Still probably not a huge deal but I going nuts trying to understand where the "related" is being generated and how we can help improve the graph by improving our website. FWIW, all of the aforementioned tips have been applied to our site, epicwebstudios.com.  -- David
