Allan, the Google resource is the base. However, remember always that: Google suggests using always the rel="canonical", even if it's only self-referential. The href in the hreflang must always indicate a canonical URL. If not, Google will consider it a mistake and won't consider the hreflang. If you're targeting two different languages (i.e.: English and Spanish), the use of the hreflang is not strictly necessary, however using it is another signal you give to Google about how you want your urls target a specific audience based on language or language/country.

Absolutely not. Google reads a text view (view source) of the page, where it doesn't matter if that content is "hidden" first of all. Unless it's being dynamically loaded with ajax when you click on the button. If it's there from moment 0 when the page loads, but just hidden with CSS you have nothing to worry about. That's a good point. I've tried incognito etc. I even use a few SERP tracking tools and they reflect the same thing. SERPWoo for instance will send me an alert saying they keyword "started ranking" instead of the normal alert that says it went up or down. I guess it's comforting to hear someone else is seeing something similar though b/c I haven't seen anyone report this and I've done a lot of searching for it.

I concur with Matthew and Travis. At a minimum, every single business site can benefit from: 1. indicating to both bots and users at least what is your industry niche via schema. 2. adding the schema for reviews to gain gold stars in SERPs.

If you want to go with a free tool, you can also check the xenu link sleuth (http://home.snafu.de/tilman/xenulink.html) Just make a full crawl with the tool, export page map to tab separated file. Then you can open this file in Excel (or any similar software). It should do the job

Hi! I personally like to use the service of Kraken.io. Check their pricing, but I'd say it is a low cost and efficient way to handle the images. We have been using it with their magento extension. But they also have a plugin for Wordpress. (https://kraken.io/plugins) I know, it is not the only solution, but it worked well for me Good luck!

Thanks for the response. Medium will not work for us, since we need to have a blog ON our website, on the same domain, in a folder. That's why WP usually works. Medium would take all the SEO goodness from our domain Ghost and Jekyllrb - haven't used of these guys, but aren't they third party hosted as well?
