  • Google has not directly come out and said that they use Seller Ratings as a ranking signal. But, I would wager that they are. I think the benefits of having a strong Seller Ratings history go far beyond any ranking boost considering it would be one among many other small ranking signals that Google uses. With that said, I think it is an extremely worthwhile strategy to get your customers to review you. My guess is that very strong or very poor Seller Ratings history relative to your category would make a difference in rank. That's just my two cents, though. Check out this Google blog post that talks about Seller Ratings: http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2010/12/being-bad-to-your-customers-is-bad-for.html And this good article by Danny Sullivan on the same topic: http://searchengineland.com/google-now-using-online-merchant-reviews-as-ranking-signal-57445

  • Are the pages that are linking to that old domain "indexed". I guess they are, that's how you found them in the 1st place. How much of a compromise is it to use the old-domain ? Is it a compromise ? Personally I have seen varying successes with old and new domains, same topic. There are just too many factors that influence the rankings. I would look at the top 20 websites that are ranking for atleast 5 variations of your primary keyword and check their domain age. That should lay it out for you. Feel free to post the new domain, old domain or PM me the URL in private and I can check it for you.

  • Hello John, I have used several enterprise solutions like BazaarVoice, and solutions for open source content management systems like Drupal and Wordpress (there are plenty of those around, mostly free) but without knowing what platform you're on it's tough to come up with a recommended solution. Since I haven't personally tested them out I don't want to list them specifically for fear that people will assume that is an endorsement, here is what I suggest: You may find what you're looking for by reading the following thread: http://www.hotscripts.com/forums/script-requests/165-looking-good-review-management-script.html And by looking into some of the solutions discussed on this page: http://www.hotscripts.com/category/scripts/php/scripts-programs/reviews-ratings/ I hope that helps! And I'm pretty sure lots of people see this as a problem that requires a solution, thus I'm pretty sure there are some solutions available to you depending on what platform you are using. Good luck! Everett

  • 1. Absolutely. If you host them on the same server then the strength of the links won't be great. Remember to register the domains using a different registrar too and to a different person/company. 2. Grab all the domains 3. The keyword terms seem low to me but it isn't an area I am familiar with. Have you carried out some keyword research ? It looks like it is a training dog tag collar? If so, I would build the site using a broad keyword which you can use to do more than one product review on. If you use the domain Dogtra280ncpPlatinum.com then you are limited to the one product - therefore the site wouldn't get updated often/ever and its content would be static. Remember that time is key here. if you are looking to add some cheap links to your main domain then there can be better ways. You would have to spend some real time ensuring that the new review website you plan to build is well optimised and carries some weight in the search engines otherwise the link strength would not be powerful enough to make it worth your while. However, if you are in it for the long run then it is a good idea/concept. Just make sure you optimise the site properly and get some regularly updated unique content. Links should follow and you can do some work on link building to enhance. On a side note, try to link to other websites and domains as well as linking to your eCommerce site. Don't make it look like an obvious link tool for your main site.

  • 404s happen for a lot of reasons, but the only time you need to fix them is when there is a link involved that is pointed to a 404 page. You then have 4 choices: change the link if you have control over it create a page there 301 the URL to something else leave it broken #1 is the best solution if it's possible. #2 or #3 are acceptable alternatives to me. #4 is unacceptable to me for the sites I manage, but if you have a large or dynamic site where the URLs change frequently, it may be something you have to live with or learn how to handle in a better way (such as a plug-in like Smart404, for a Wordpress site). As far as whether I'm going to clean up every link to a broken page on my site - I'll absolutely do it if it's a good link, because it's way easier to 301 that link than it is to earn another link elsewhere. If it's a crap link I might not bother.

  • Hi Robert! We aim to target the Australian market that is why we want to set up a .au site, and yes, we are a bit pressed for time so instead of rewriting everything, we intend to just create .au pages for our main sections, but the inner pages would be from our .com site. They're both in English so we also think that there's a chance we would be considered having duplicate content if we rewrite all our .com pages to be used in .au. We would definitely use geotargeting/language selection for our AU site to avoid any issues. Thank you so much Robert for taking the time to answer my question! I truly appreciate it!

  • If the recipes that appear on both sites are in different languages then you are fine. If they are the same language, then I would consider re-writing the recipes one of of the sites so that they are not duplicated exactly (might be challenging for parts of a recipe).

  • I agree, Julie. Google is not going to, or able to (unless the site with the link has Google Analytics) flow more link juice to a link that gets more clicks than another. To answer the original poster's question, just because a link is getting a lot of clicks does not make it valuable. Traffic means nothing in the grand scheme of things. It's all about what that traffic is doing on your site once they get there. Are they purchasing? Are they turning into leads? Are they bouncing immediately? In all likelihood the traffic has some value, but to truly measure which would be better would require more information. All else being equal, a link that drives traffic is better than one which does not.

  • Hy Egol, As I write to vizergy, im totally lost about this theme. When I analyse the websites from my top keywords, none of them have good content (the #1 is an iframe website). You can create good content, but google read this? Is more important to have an trick content to looks nice or really have good content? Im using google.com.br and my keyword is "acampamento" The number 1 website is www.acampar.net. My website is at #12 and it is www.acampamentoaguiasdaserra.com.br

  • Hey Naghirniac, I want to mentioned you that If you had submitted the video to you tube then it will plays a crucial role in ranking & overall the visibility of your website will increased because you tube is the largest search engine after Google. If you are not getting then please carefully saw the example below. Suppose a there is a company name abc.com who is in the field of  mobile development field. If they want to advertise the company through a video or they make a video showing their working culture then it is not sufficient that they only put the video on their website only. But they have to put the video on the social networking websites or they upload the video on the you tube to increase their web presence in the field of software development or in order to promote themselves & we all know that the best measure to promote anything is the search engines & social media. I hope that you will find the solution.

  • To answer this question: Do search engines only count links that have google analytics? No. That sounds ridiculous. What about omniture and webmetrics?
