Question For Anyone
Unfortunately, this is where the Mozscape index has some short comings, in the sense that it does not crawl as often as others, nor quite as much. You're getting those stats because the Moz crawler hasn't crawled that site and its backlinks yet. If you hop over to MajesticSEO and insert the root domain, you'll see in excess of 20,000 backlinks. Looks like they were acquired less than a week ago, so there's no doubt the domain is using spammy tactics to rank.

Why did we go down 40 slots in rank?
I'm hoping for more information here, though Brice helped quite a bit.

Google + under Google business domain email account
Try putting your company name in the First and Last name and see what happens. Mine didn't work, so I just made up a first and last name and pretty much left it as is. It controls my youtube channel and a couple other things that I don't want an employee to have access to.

Are Special Characters and Phone no. in Title Tag bad for Rankings? thank u
For sure special characters are not a good idea in title tags. I do not see a point in including telephone numbers in title tags you can keep it in body or blocks and it will still be picked up by search engine spiders.

Repeat name and location in URL or no ?
I gave the contact page as example but the question was for the entire website. I'm asking this beacause I must use a CMS to modify the website but it allows so little SEO parameters. I just want to make shure that Google won't penalize for trying to ''trick'' their search engine.

My New(ish) Site Isn't Ranking Well And Recently Fell
First of all, don't panic. New sites fluctuate in rankings all the time, as Google tries to figure out where your site fits best in the SERPs. Penguin was mostly about spammy links, not on-page optimization. Your site is relatively new and still doesn't have much content or links. Work on writing more content and building more authoritative links, and your rankings will improve over time.

Re: blog post title length and url structure
ok andy thanks - i just always thought when you do a search for "how to sell blue widgets to starving eskimos" that the first result in serp would have to be the blog post titled "how to sell blue widgets to starving eskimos" if such a post existed ad indexed. it's inconceivable to me how anything else could rank higher - much less not being able to find it in the first 10 pages i am going to manually search 1000 pages just to see if i can find it at all

Compare the rankings
I guess you have a narrow image of how Google look in to the websites when rankings in SERPs against different key phrases. The images should some good measurements but there is nothing that allows me to come up with the answer of domain 1 or domain 2… We even have no clue how many things Google consider but we at least know that they are 200+ signals. My advice for whoever domain is losing to analyze every area that may be on-page optimization, content, back links, social, press links or others and if anything is bad or at least not up to the mark then try to fix it and work accordingly. Hope this helps!

Two Pages with the Same Name Different URL's
The main reason that I have two pages about Wigets is due in part to the shopping experience. If someone comes to my page, the last things they want to do is read a whole bunch of "googley goop" about Wigets. I know, sounds crazy, but the truth is in the putting. I have served up filter pages with widgets on them, and I have served up pages with widgets + content about widgets on them, and i have servered up only pages about widgets with links out to widget filter pages. The best performing pages are those with only a vast amount of widgets (little pictures and micro descriptions) on them. My customers just want to browse browse browse, they dont want to read any thing. Call me crazy That being the case, this does not make for a good landing page for Google for so many reasons be it duplicate content, lack of unique content etc. Google wants unique quality content, and my landing page about widgets (the page with just a bunch of squares each containing a widget and micro content such as name and color) just does not suffice. Keep in mind I have over 20K widgets on my site. That is the reason why it is very necessary for me to have a page about widgets and a shopping page showing all the variety of widgets in all their shapes and colors. The content page is all about widgets, how their are made, sizes, colors, links to articles etc. If I were to put this on the widget shopping page, I can kiss all my sales goodbye. The reason I know this is because I have done it and this was the reward I received from my customers. My customers only want to browse and shop widgets and the Google gods want content about widgets, not just a collection widgets on a page, because everyone else is doing that. I have actually created lots of content pages about my widgets with amazing content. No one else has this, that is why I need two pages. Thus my dilema which I spoke of before in my original post. Any suggestions are welcome Cheers!

WP plugins not updating - unable to remove
You'll need to go in to your site on the server via ftp and remove the old version of the plugin manually before updating, Erik. This error is often caused by misconfiguration of the permissions on the plugin folders on the server. Paul

PDF for link building - avoiding duplicate content
Hey Bob I think you should forget about any kind of perceived conventions and have whatever you think works best for your users and goals. Again, look at unbounce, that is a custom landing page with a homepage link (to share the love) but not the general site navigation. They also have a footer to do a bit more link love but really, do what works for you. Forget conventions - do what works! Hope that helps Marcus

Shtml question
The fact that they're shtml files instead of html files has nothing to do with it. You're definitely not preventing your site from being indexed. Google reads html and shtml files the same way. In fact, if you "view source" you won't even be able to tell it's shtml. If you want your site to appear in the address bar of your browser as cushingco.com without the index.shtml showing up, all you need is a simple redirect. This will be good for users and for Google. RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} index.shtml RewriteRule .* http://www.cushingco.com/? [R=301,L] Put that code in your .htaccess file, and you're good to go.
