Moving from http to https - what do I need to do in Google Search Console?
I also leave the old profiles. My guess is that if Google does try and crawl the old sitemaps, they'll hit the redirects and will index the new urls quicker. It also helps if you have any urls that have somehow avoided the move.

Specific pages won't index
You can also submit to Google without using Search Console. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=submit+url+to+google&oq=submit+url+to+google&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l5.2372j0j1&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 (Search "Submit URL To Google") and then just paste your url in. You can do this to any url.

Why add .html to WordPress pages?
Surely before you used blogger or something like that. Once upon a time something similar happened to me!

English and French under the same domain
First the domain reside on a Country code top-level domains (.fr) ... which means it very hard for google or even impossible for google to target ur english content for UK (https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/62399) when you fix the first note, then you need to implement hreflangs (https://moz.com/learn/seo/hreflang-tag) this will help google index and find the alternate version of your webpage in the language you announce in the markup. going with 2 domain name like you mentioned is definitely a solution but i recommend going with one domain with a generic tld like a .com or .net and having the root that targets the french/france market and a subfolder that target the english people in UK.

Working out whether a site is http and https
You can write a single redirect rule that will apply to any request on the hostname. I'm not sure what server you're using, but if you use HTACCESS, there's a great post on StackOverflow on how to apply this rule: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/29029049/best-practice-301-redirect-http-to-https-standard-domain

Landing pages showing up as HTTPS when we haven't made the switch
What I would do is the following: change the rel canonical back, remove the https version from Search Console (you need to add the https version of the website as well in Search Console) and then fetch and reindex the http version (also from Search Console). So basically, help Google understand this mistake and go back to the http version. Also, check your sitemaps and be sure that you are not including https links there. Hope this helps.

Our site recently switched from http to https. Do I still need to setup a redirect for the incoming links pointing to http?
My question is simply: Do i need to do anything further in the .htaccess file to ensure we don't lose the value coming in from all the external follow links pointing to the http version of the site? And very simply no -Andy

What do you use to come up with content ideas?
Hi, I'm working on a presentation that helps brands answer this question. It really feels like one of those questions that should have a great, simple answer. My quick-fast-dirty process looks a lot like this. Brand-level Determine goals for brand Ascertain how content can help brand attain those goals Competition Do a simple Google search to see which brands are competition for the same audience (e.g., using your money keywords) Pay close attention to the content they've created that's ranking well Try to create a short list of things you can do content-wise better Audience Figure out who they are being visiting social media, Quora, Reddit, etc., and doing a keyword search to see who is using your terms Make at list of the folks who are influencers and what questions, concerns, issues are being raised Use this information to find other such platforms where similar audiences might be congregating (i.e., do a Google search or Twitter search or Facebook search to see what other groups key members might be a part of) Content Armed with your keywords, the questions you can likely answer and the types of content your competition is creating, you can being to think about the types of content you can and should create based on your brand's needs and goals. For example, if you have an existing product that is now newer and better than ever, but you need to get people to learn about the changes, maybe you write a top of the funnel piece that includes your brand as part of a solution to a problem you found from online discussions. The maker of a sleek, redesigned wallet for millennials, say, might write a post titled "Why Your iPhone Case Should Never Double as a Credit Card Holder." The key is to focus as much on the execution as the idea. That is... Have a clear goal with regard to each piece of content Know in advance which segment of the audience you're attempting to reach and what desired actions you wish for them to take Understand that publishing content is only part of the process. (It must be shared, promoted and, hopefully, amplified to be successful) To help you get started, here are a few indispensable resources: For help with what questions you should be answering: * Answer the public * http://keywordtool.io/ For how to come up with better ideas more easily:* Creating Demand for Products, Services, and Ideas that Have Little to No Existing Search Volume - Whiteboard Friday*GENERATING BETTER CONTENT IDEAS

What is the risk of changing underscores to hyphens in URLs that are ranking
You pretty much nailed it. If the only reason is cosmetic (which I doubt has any influence on anything), there is absolutely no reason to risk losing top 5 rankings. Good luck! Side note.. Google's official stance is that 301s pass 100% authority but not worth testing. You are guaranteed to see a dip in rankings/organic traffic after you set up the 301s.

301 redirecting a previously abused URL
The big question is how long ago did the URL change take place. I have had similar circumstances when gaining new clients who had been working with some less then ethical companies and we found that after ~6 months there is little SEO value unless there are still good, active links pointing to those locations. If there is still some good links pointing to the original location then you should regardless, but if not and it has been longer than 6 months I personally would not.

301 Re-directing 'empty' domains
Hello there! Were you sure that were really empty domains? Have you checked whether had history of any kind with web.archive.org? What i'm understanding from your question is that the rankings were hurt just when the redirection impacted and indexed. Solution? do not redirect those domains to that kw. Just make a 301 to the home, root domain to root domain: empty-domain.com->main-domain.com Also, have you checked for any other reason for that drop in rankings? Bad backlinks, an increase in your competitors authority, bad own optimization or better competitors's optimization, or any other? Best luck. GR.

Website crawl error
Hi Christy, Thanks for your answer! Yes, it only happens with this specific site in Screaming Frog. I also did a crawl test on Moz Pro and there were no issues. Google Search Console doesn't point out big issues neither. The website does save 9 cookies but none of them have any name value even close to path or domain. Thanks, Jens

Moving site from html to Wordpress site: Should I port all old pages and redirect?
I recently did something similar and left behind a bunch of "thin" pages, just be sure to check your internal links to make sure you are not linking to a page you are 404ing. [Screaming Frog is great for this—if you don't have it, you should get it.] You can always "revive" any that you see a lot of people trying to reach. My redirects took hold quickly—I couldn't even say how long, it was that fast. [Mine was an old domain and frequently crawled.] Good luck!

Date in permalinks. Bad?
I'm assuming the permalink is the domain.com/blog/year/month/date/postname type structure, the Wordpress default? Going from so many unnecessary folders to fewer seems like it can only speed things up a bit. I'd recommend a structure such as domain.com/recipes/tegory%/%postname%/ if you have them categorized by types of meal. Google likes to see a logical folder structure. Makes for solid human readability as well. And don't forget to redirect old permalinks to new permalinks. If there are any posts linked out there, you'll want to be sure they redirect to the new permalink.

Adding /es version to google search console
Hey Trazo--yes, you'll need to add the different variations of your domains to GSC. You should create separate properties for these URLs, then make a set of them (https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6338828?hl=en). In order to indicate to Google the primary URLs (www vs non-www), you'll need each url to be set up as a property. As for your SSL question, are you serving both SSL and non-SSL URLs on your domain? If you're not, and all the URLs on your site are SSL, you should make sure any non-SSL url counterparts are forwarding to the correct SSL version.

Duplicate Content
What you're describing sounds like registration spam, which can be a royal pain. About two years ago spammers found a vulnerability in my CMS where they used bots to inject the spam into registration fields that ask for a user profile, I ended up removing write access for the user profiles and added ReCaptcha for all registrations. When it first happened my site had more than 8,000 bot registrations overnight. Good times!

Top 3 SEO Strategy/Research Practices
Hi Becky, I found adding 200-300 words for the category pages worked best for my ecom site. I use 400-500 words for the main body on the products I sell. I (somehow) ranked number one on Google the previous 2 years based on organic content writing - no backlinks My ecom site is LikeChimp.com - you can see how I use good content to rank, check out the page categories vs the product description: http://likechimp.com/product-category/buy-facebook-event-attendees/# Hope this helps.
