  • The change is no problem, unless you have links to those pages. Then I would just make your CMS keep the url structure. (Create a sanbox and send the job to someone on elance) If you change url structure: Create an index sitemap file. Then create a sitemap for the old site and the new site. If the urls are different in any way this is very good to do. Then submit the sitemap in webmaster tools and it should show two. Then google will crawl both pages faster and see the redirects and get your new URLs updated fast.

  • Well the content was written by specialists in respective areas but was not updated for long time. content was also very long between 1500-5000 words like a long essay. We are re-writing content but keeping it max 1000 words. The most valuable content that I have written is really long articles with a lot of photos, graphs and art to support it.  Chopping that down to 1000 words would be the very absolute last thing that I would do to fight a panda problem or solve any type of search engine issue.  It would be like throwing the treasure chest overboard! What else could be causing your panda problem?  I can't answer that but would consider duplicate content, thin content, ad density above the fold.  Or, maybe your problem is something other than panda? Has someone republished your content without your permission, have you given your content to article sites, maybe the content was not original when you placed it on site. Don't burn down your house to get rid of the mice.

  • Hi Wellnesswooz, There is a faster approach, it is called canonical. Just insert a into the header of the index.html and you have resolved this issue. Gr., Istvan

  • Hi Marcin, Agreed, but the issue is that I need to be able to write a specific title and meta description in order to target the keywords that this page is designed to target, therefore the template approach in this instance does not provide me with the flexibility that I need. When I write a specific SEO title it overwrites the template system that you mentioned. More annoyingly I can't use the variables that you mentioned to write specific SEO titles, which I think is an oversight. So I'm a bit stuck and looking for ideas...

  • Hi Kane Many thanks - yes we picked up on the .js in the header so we'll look at a workaround for this. Thanks

  • Hi Perri, Thanks for writing in and sorry your crawl diagnostics are looking off. This is actually a small bug with our crawler counting images and PDFs as actually pages. We are aware of the issue and our engineers have figured out what has caused the issue, but it may take them some to make the necessary changes to the crawler to correct the issue for the images and PDFs returning errors in the crawl diagnostics report. Thank you for your patience while we look into this. I'm sorry for any inconvenience. -Chiaryn

  • I just wanted to know if this can affect my seo efforts negativele? If your website is all about green widgets and you say... "Hey, I'll pay you good money for referring buyers to me!".... there might be quite a few extremely smart people who own strong websites decide to take you up on the deal.  They then add lots of pages about green widgets to their website - absolutely saturating the keyword spectrum - and tomorrow morning when you wake up their pages will all be above yours all over the web.  Don't underestimate what one affiliate can do.  He could own six powerful websites that are somewhat related to you.  Just adding a page to them about green widgets could be enough to out rank you.  And if he uses all six of those sites you are bumped - overnight - from page one to page two. So, in addition to "working for you".... affiliates can "compete against you". I rank above my affiliate program sites for their main keywords.  Do they think its a "negative"?....  I don't think that they like my site above theirs - but at least I am selling their widget and not the other guy's.

  • Does anyone else have anything to add?  I'd love to see a few examples of pages that make use of the tags and how they are doing in the search engines.  I certainly understand if you don't want to share your specific pages though.
