Duplicate Page Titles and Content
Although needs is definitely a strong word, I'd say that this is something that you ought to fix, especially since it will be so easy. Based on your description of the issue, it sounds like the quick fix is to add the noindex tag to the thank you and contact page: However, this assumes that the contact and thank you pages shouldn't show up in the SERPs. I figure that's a safe assumption because I don't know when I'd ever like to see those pages. The risk of keeping all that duplicate content around is that one day Google might penalize you for it and reduce all of your rankings. Is this likely? Who knows. But I'd rather not take the chance.

Subdomain CMS or unique URL
Brand strength is an increasingly important factor, and if you put your content in different sub-domains you will be just spreading thin on your brand strength/ domain authority. If its good quality content you expect, my suggestion to have it on the root domain - perhaps, on a sub folder - as opposed to a sub-domain.

Do links hold there value after 12 months?
Andrew, to answer your question in simple words, yes...aged links help. Now, the way I am looking at it, there's also this bigger problem. Imagine scenarios below. Website A.com has 10,000 natural links. You add 50 Rented Links. Now, 1 year later, "naturally" your natural links should grow. Also, with the nature of the Internet, some of those 10,000 links will be lost...sites expire...people loose interest in their websites/blogs, clean-up efforts and other reasons. So gradually you are both gaining and loosing links on a regular basis, which is natural. So if the 50 rented, essentially 50 anchor text links are gained and lost after 12 months or so, they give a clean indication of something going on. The risk is there...on a scale of 1-10 of affecting your link profile, the risk maybe 3-4. Imagine the above scenario for Website B, which only has 100 total natural links. And you add 50 Rented Links and those links disappear after 1 year...that's a much higher risk compared to the above scenario. The risk in both situations is 2 fold. A. Loss of PA/DA B. Potential Issues with Link Profile. Does that make sense ? I hope this helps you make decisions.

How to ask for forgiveness from the Google God?
I thought there's no such thing as duplicate content on site penalty? We have products that have"sample" products. The sample product does have the sample content as it's parent product. But we have had this for years. Will message you. Thank you.

Resurrecting a heavily duplicated Joomla website.
Here are my suggestions While upgrading software is typically a good thing, it sounds like you're possibly going to break things by doing it (I would assume we're talking major version changes, not patch levels). I would make sure of what you're going to break before doing it. At least make a test copy somewhere and monkey with it there. NEVER "tinker" with your live site. There are scripts that can export Joomla sites. If you do switch software, be meticulous in your 301s or take a ranking bath. Canonical your site. That will fix the duplicate problem easily. Why Wordpress? Consider a forum instead. A forum invites conversation and natively creates fresh content.

Hotels Schema.org
Their current solution seems to be something along the lines of: ***** Rating: 8.4/10 - 900 Reviews almost forcing two different review "views" into the same listing, which seems a little dumb from a UI perspective.

Internal links to low value pages
Thanks Josh, In the main we rank very well for medium length & long tail searches about our plants, which made me confident about doing all this internal linking in the first place. It wasn't until the die was cast that I lost my nerve. It's so hard to track rankings across so many products & keyphrase variations, especially when we add in the variables of ongoing link building & the fresh chunks of content that we added to almost all of the updated product pages when we put in these new internal links. We're tracking samples of the most valuable ones in SEOmoz campaigns and nothing dramatic has changed. We have no accurate means of measuring whether or not these links have affected support calls & email traffic, which isn't much help! We knew this beforehand, but our reasoning was basically "how could it hurt?". I suppose what I'm really asking for is an example of another site that has dealt with this particular issue, i.e. found a way to use (almost) site-wide links to necessary but commercially unimportant pages without draining the link juice of its important pages.

Should I allow index of category / tag pages on Wordpress?
I have two wordpress blogs and category pages are where most of my search engine traffic enters. Some bring in thousands per month. Most of my post pages bring in very little traffic. If you are not having any problem with duplicate content at present maybe it would be a good idea to allow indexing of the main page, the post pages and the category pages. They if you do have a duplicate content problem you can remove from the index the pages that bring in the least amount of traffic.

Redirecting a old aged site to a new exact match site?
Hi, I would redirect #1 to #2 and move on from there. Why? Exact Match is just overpowered. It depends on your sector / competition however. Generally it's best to have all content on one site so you can focus all your attention there. If you have GWT accounts be sure to tell them that you move the site over to another one! good Luck! Jan

How to skip all rewrite rules
Thanks for the quick response. Yes, I have access to edit the .htaccess file. I'll try using the [L] tag for the virtual domains. Best, Christopher
