Managed DNS potential SEO problems
HI Chris We have been using CDN networds to achieve this for many years and have not seen any issues with duplicate content. As I understand it, one piece of content should only exists at one URL. So if the same URL is served from a number of different IPs there should be no issues with duplicate content. To make absolutely sure you can keep an eye on warnings in Google Webmaster tools and implement canonical tags. Hope this helped to shed some light on this issue. Have a great day Fredrik

Expired Domain - http:// or www
Yeah it does matter a bit. Figure out which version has the most (or best) incoming links to it and use that one. Yes you can just set it in Wordpress. I believe Wordpess will automatically 301 redirect the unused version to the one you've chosen. If not, you can do it manually.

Link to Articles for news sites in Google SERPs
Are your results personalized, or depersonalized? Did you pray to Google this morning, or make a disparaging remark about Matt Cutts's cat?

Popup Question
The popup is very presumptuous and arrogant. IMO. Then to show nothing but an H1 and description with everything else empty. That is backwards. The company should SHOW the customer a selection up front and let the customer consider. Where have you seen a website like this before? The visitor will think he is on Koozebane.

Canonical tags pointing at old URLs that have been 301'd
So, you basically (in some cases) have a canonical pointing to a URL, and then that URL 301s to a new URL? If that's the case, I think Nakul is right - it's not ideal. It's not a disaster, but you're basically putting Google through extra hops and you could be losing link-juice. Unfortunately, it's nearly impossible to calculate how much. Ideally, I'd change the canonicals to point to the new URLs.

Duplicate content with same URL?
I am not using a rewrite rule yet -- I was asking if there is one that would resolve this issue.

Please Help! I lost ranking from #1 SERP
I am after Pensacola Real Estate. I have made no changes to my site in the last year. I just dropped recently from one unexpectedly. I think it was the time around the "google update" I am hearing so much about...

To 301 redirect or not to 301 redirect? duplicate content problem www.domain.com and www.domain.com/en/
Sanket, Great links, thank you for posting them. Update The weekly web crawler diagnostics report showed a decrease in total errors found. Looks like the 301 redirect worked. Thanks guys!

Best way to host new product?
I'm not 100% sure how google treats subdomains these days, but normally i would think it would be best to use a folder within existing site to be able to profit from existing SERP.

Google Cache Version and Text Only Version are different
Thanks for your reply I thought the same. But when I am trying to check a portion of my site content, its appearing in Google SERPs while trying different set of text its not coming up. I dont know this is do do with the different JS files we are using and possibility some Google can pass through and be able to crawl content within them and some not. Any thoughts?

Can 404 results from external links hurt site ranking?
Well if those external links coming in passed link juice and they no long link due to a 404... Then you will lose link juice... So this could potentially affect rankings. I would either 301 the broken links to the new most relevant page or better still contract the external sites web host and ask them to change the link to the new address (depending on the amount of links).

What do I do with an old site when a new one is built?
You should also set up Google Webmaster Tools for your old and new domains and then tell Google about your change of address. Log-in then go to Configuration>Change of Address And here is some other information from Google that is useful to follow https://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=83105

Google is indexing my directories
Thanks for expanding on that! a) There are no pages in these folders; they're just directories full of Wordpress config stuff b) I already have Yoast and have tag pages noindexed. All the directories I'm referring to are similar to the path I showed above. c) If I request removal of specific folders, will it also remove all the files within the folder?\ Thanks!

Find broken links in Excel?
If this is something you check for often (which it probably should be), you might want to check out a program like Screaming Frog. That makes it really easy to find 404s and any other response codes.
