Google places - We currently do not support the location
That is a "common" issue unfortunately. Vanessa (Google's Community Manager) responds with this - "You may be seeing this message on your listing for a couple reasons. Have you just recently verified your listing? Note that it may take up to 2 weeks from the time you've verified that listing to appear on Google Maps, and during that time your Active listing will say “We currently do not support this location” on it. Please just sit tight. 2) Has your listing been verified and live for some time? Search for it on maps.google.com ("business name, city/phone"). Sometimes the links from your Places dashboard aren't synced properly, so you should always search on Maps first to make sure it is indeed removed . Often it's still live and there, you just need to look it up via maps.google.com.3) If you’ve done a search on maps.google.com and still don't see it, go to your Places dashboard (google.com/places) and “poke” the listing by clicking Edit > Submit. Give it a couple days, and then again, go to maps.google.com to see if you see it appear live. 4) If none of that helps, then your listing has been removed from Google Maps. If you believe your listing should not have been removed, get in touch with our support team:Link to contact form: http://support.google.com/places/bin/static.py?hl=en&ts=1386120&page=ts.csSelect: My listing no longer appears on Google Maps or is incorrectly marked as closed. > Fill out the short form, hit Submit, and await an e-mail from a member of our support team (it may take a few days). - Vanessa_Edited June 14 to reflect troubleshooter updates. - Jade_Update -- We're currently experiencing an issue displaying some pages, affecting service area businesses in particular. My recommendation is that you make absolutely certain that you follow the quality guidelines, and then work through #4 above. You'll get an email back from the support team that asks you to wait if we think your listing is affected." Hope this helps. Mike

Ranking 3 times in SERP for non Branded Keyword
As per the info you sent via PM... this has managed to be taken care of via GMM (google map maker) at least for now. Some GMM pros marked the 'other' 2 listings as duplicate of the first, official listing. I see that the editors/reviewers first changed the addresses of the offending POIs (point of interest) to match the original listing... and also added extra phone numbers into the original listing (to help show Google that it is all the same business.) Search again... and you'll most likely find that the dealership only has one G+ Local Page appearing. Footer links vs Homepage Content
This does indeed seem like an excellent solution that we can use for the featured item on the homepage. Thank you I do, however, have this pending sense of doom that I am not going to be able to convince the client. I suspect that they want it permanently visible on the homepage if not in the footer. These links are fundamental to the current site goals will I get penalised if they are added to the footer? If so then it will definitely help persuading the client. Thanks again for your help

Am I at risk of keyword stuffing in a portfolio?
eyepac and EGOL, Thanks again for the help. I've just finished implementing the gallery and the "project spotlights." Now to beef up the content with more spotlights (we've got about 30 old ones from our last webpage that should transfer well), scour our archive for more photos, and get a microphone in my installers' hands. I've still got to figure out a good way to get the portfolio into a multipage format targeting more key phrases, and I think I've got a good idea for a hybrid article/gallery. Now to find the time to make it. Reeves

Posting a video on your site and also on youtube
Hi Jerry, What you suggest is just about achievable, but it's not very predictable and I wouldn't recommend it. Firstly, It's quite hard to get rich snippets for embedded YouTube videos - and secondly, if you want the YouTube video to rank again, this video will almost certainly outrank you unless you have an incredibly strong site - as such, you can end up driving traffic that you could have driven to your own site to YouTube - and from there it is extremely hard to drive referrals. Secondly, While Google may choose to rank both pages, they often will just preference one of the videos - likely the YouTube.com version - which means your site won't rank at all. Thirdly - The kind of videos that you should be aiming to get your site ranking for, normally conversion related videos - are not the type of content that typically provide any value on YouTube, so you should really consider who the target audience are for your content and whether they're people on your site or people finding the content via YouTube. However, all this aside, If you really do want to get both a YouTube listing and your own site ranking - then I recommend showing Google that it's two different videos both relevant to the keyword - by self hosting the content on your own site (or using a paid third party platform) and submitting a video sitemap - then uploading the video to YouTube However, I want to make absolutely clear that I don't really recommend the above solution from a strategic perspective, as the kind of content you should want your site to rank for is almost never also appropriate to put on YouTube. Thanks, Phil.

Local SEO company
From a purely technical perspective, there's no reason that I can think of. I can, however, think of some business, relationship, and link building reasons. Greater understanding of the geographic area and nuances. Working in Lancaster, PA, for instance, I've seen some seriously weird phrases that people use (and search for) idiomatically. Potentially stronger (or already existing) local relationships for link building, both in terms of local business relationships as well as with local niche sites and authorities (e.g. newspapers). Face-to-Face might, potentially, offer more accountability. I guess this one depends very strongly on the company you're dealing with, but you could make the argument that an SEO would develop a better understanding of your business if they meet you. I can also think of some downsides, like lack of talent in your area. Whether you're looking locally or further abroad, if you have concerns, references or referrals are always a big help, in my opinion.

Hi WrightIMC, Yep, something definitely happened that week in February. Tons of reports on this. Here is a really good thread on this at The Local Search Forum: http://localsearchforum.catalystemarketing.com/google-local/3771-places-analytics-problem-impressions-actions-dropped.html I think it's exactly what you need to read.
