Chat through link building best practices and outreach techniques.

  • i would not worry about PR, all pages have some PR and all is usefull. i would make sure none of tthe links come from sites that may harm, you spam or porn sites. If they have little PR and are not relevant, then i would not worry about them, but as long as they are not spam paid links they will not harm you. This page may exlain a bit more abount pr. http://thatsit.com.au/seo/tutorials/a-simple-explanation-of-pagerank

  • Thank you, Dr. Peter You give some really sound advice. I was looking to outsource some of my link building to save some time, but now I think it’s more important that I focus on this area myself. Quality and credibility is key the project I am working on so I would not want to be penalised.

  • Kevin it is all about quality vs. quantity but don't let anyone tell you the quantity doesn't matter... We are quickly moving up the rankings by doing a combination of Social Media Bookmarking, Video SEO, Article Writing,  Blogs, RSS submissions etc. I suggest you try a campaign involving those for starters and then maybe issue a PR via PRWEB. One challenge we face is one of the top ranking sites we are trying to beat is building 3K + links a month... Hard to compete with that so we are just doing as much as we can and focusing on quality first. 6 months is good. Build out as much content and get the leg work started ASAP. Best of luck!

  • I agree that it certainly should be discussed in advance, but to me it seems petty. It is as if you are saying to the client that their money wasn't enough.

  • This Whiteborad Friday blog post might be able to help. This clip helped us to cope and understand the post-panda environment. Combine the video with the data showing the falling rankings as proof that traditional SEO methods that get low quality links are no longer effective. Showing them other articles and videos on the changes since panda/penguin might also help to change their perspective. They may be finding it hard to change methods and tactics because it has worked well for them in the past. Convincing them that their techniques are no longer viable can be quite difficult as they probably still believe that old methods are still the best. Perhaps if you compile a lot of articles or videos from top SEO experts, then perhaps they  would come around an decide to change gears with their SEO campaign. Hope this helps.

  • Social media plays big role these days for SEO and brand awareness . Making use of it can be only beneficial even if you're not getting any juice out of it. SM if used effective can bring you quality traffic, targeted for your needs.

  • Thanks for all the feedback I think you are right, I think the best strategy is to write on sites which fit your requirements.  You are focusing on people rather than links then, this should increase click through and potentially improve your rankings.

  • Yup - it should help.  If you have influence over the domain, try to make sure that the page will get linked to from another page on the domain that has page authority already.  There could be a danger that the page you get a link on is not naturally crawlable on that domain, and thus wouldn't naturally picked up as spiders crawl that domain.  You could also try linking to it from an external source to make sure the link would pick up page authority eventually.

  • BTW - The better way is to use PR outlets, proper use of Social Media, Use of Video SEO, Blog Commenting etc...

  • Thanks for the response, I have checked out their backlink profile and it is strong. They do act as a hub for similar businesses in my area, they also have a strong .edu and .org profile. They build sites for other businesses in my area and have those sites link back to this 'hub' site. So all the links are relevant. They have also been featured on sites like the huffingtonpost.com which isn't really related to my industry but the huff-post's link profile is massive. I'm current'y working on content and building links. So it seems only logical to try to join forces with them. I've spoken to this agency and they seem eager to help, but we haven't spoken about at what cost yet. I think it will be a good investment, hoping to get a little more encouragement from the boards tho. Cy

  • ReverbNation has an incredible natural link profile that builds up a ton of authority. Spammers and hackers take advantage of this by setting up content on ReverbNation and then pointing tens of thousands of spam links directly at the pages. This allows them to rank temporarily.

  • I really dont use Fiverr Gigs service, most of them are just spam links and automated links..Few are verified, many are spammed and even links are gone. Better create good content of articles, and engage social networks.

  • I'm with you... If it's about branding then it's no use using SEO Link Vine. However, if its just about links? then maybe SEO Link Vine can be considered, but with the questions you thrown about content that reads "think before you beverage"ra ra ra..., then SEO Link Vine couldn't be of a big help.
