How Much Should I Worry About NOFOLLOW Links?
If you haven't been hit by any ranking drops in the last several weeks, I wouldn't be worried about this at all -- nofollow or not.

Best out of the box directory software?
I didn't get on with directorypress. I just couldn't see the point in building a directory on top of wordpress when it then overtakes any wordpress like functionality. I'd agree with Brent that it is worth a look - I know others who like it. However for me it was just a convoluted way to go about things with a not great end result.

Google Webmaster Link drop
Having a lower number of links in OSE is common to everyone if you go to Majestic SEO you might find the accurate number of links.

Should we imitate our competitor's blog network?
Agreed, plus the answer that you marked as good really is the best answer for this question

Changing url from non www to www.
I agree with George _"Wordpress 301 redirects the links from the non-www URL to the www URL so your link juice should still flow to the new URLs and the shared links will still resolve to the right page" _in the long run this will conserve you link juice.

Has anyone tried Rank Warrior for Link Building?
Is there any way you can get my competitors to use these guys? Let's see...they write 7 articles that promote my keywords and distribute those to 150 different directories. Another thing they do is build 250 blog comments and 4000 articles!!!! When I see those numbers what I'm thinking is that this will either ruin a domain or create a $xxxx to $xxxxx job for an SEO who does penalty removal. RUN AWAY FAST!

Protection from Clients
I say you SPAM the hack of out of their domain.. Just kidding of course! Try contacting BBB a lot of times they can resolve issues like these. Another more harsh option is to try to contact them and tell them that if they don't pay you will be forced to leave negative reviews of the way they do business on all major review sites that could possibly lower their rankings, etc... I do IT consulting and sometimes I encounter these kind of issues with NEW clients, over time I learned to watch out for certain things when taking new clients that could possibly lead to a non payment. If I feel that the client will have issues with payments, I ask for money upfront. During these hard times some companies can't pay on time which is acceptable as long as their honest about it and tell you, if they start hiding, running, or wasting time then in my case we simply flip the switch on of their servers or systems that we monitor, that usually gets us paid fairly quickly

Paid Directory Submissions
Well, these links like any/all/most other links add to your domain authority and then based on how competitive your niche is, you may or may not see any real effect just from doing these 2 directory submissions.

What is the danger in offering giveaways in exchange for links?
The answer is - it is risky ground. Some say it is good marketing, but there are examples of this backfiring - so the best advice is to be aware of the risks and tread lightly. Technically when you really look at it - it is good marketing, but it is also an alternative to paying cash, and Google doesn't like this type of link building Giveaways and even offering a discount in exchange for a link can land you in hot water. Take the whole Overstock penalty for example, they were getting links on EDU sites by offering discounts to students and faculty. Good marketing or shady link building? Debatable. Would they have gotten caught if they weren't such a big name? Who knows... To be on the safe side, my recommendation is to host a giveaway, but make no mention of "linking back" to your site. You can probably say "please share this contest with your friends and family" but "sharing" isn't necessarily asking for a link. Any links obtained out of interest in the contest are earned through good marketing/content. Edited to add: You also have to consider FTC disclosures when giving away any product for a review. Also, I can't find it right now, I will continue looking, but I think remember reading something from Matt stating that if you are giving away a product you have to ask them to no-follow any links.

How much should a link building program cost?
I'm afraid that there's no one-sized-fits-all answer to that question. I'd be very wary of being charged by the link, because anyone who focuses on quantity is going to inevitably sacrifice quality. If I promise to build you 50 links for $500, you'll get what you paid for (i.e. not much). Worse yet, below a certain quality threshold, you're taking a long-term risk. In other words, you won't just risk spending your money poorly - you'll risk a penalty or serious SEO problems. On the other hand, I definitely don't think you should settle for "give us some money and we will do our best" - your link-building company should definitely have a plan and be transparent about it. Preferably, that's going to be a mix of helping you develop content and build/attract links to it, but it should be quantifiable. Anything related to real estate is going to be competitive, and that means expensive (done right). I'd definitely stay local, honestly - someone who knows the UK and even London market will have not only more relevant experience but more relevant connections. A bunch of links from Istanbul aren't going to help you much. A really great firm may even have PR connections, but obviously that's a different price level.

How do you use a blog to help SEO.
From what I know your looking to gain 2 things! 1. Users linking back to your blog and 2. Sharing the content on social networks. Building up social lists on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ etc so when you do post something new you have a hub of users to help push your post by sharing it on social networks which should also help to generate more backlinks. Yes and there's more... Building up social lists is very challenging, it takes time and added value. The goal is to make friends with people in your or relevant to your niche. By interacting with their posts and contributing to their posts you will also be able to find good content that they are missing or add to content that they have already created. Building a social lists requires a lot of engagement, but when done properly you win. Is this the main purpose of a blog for SEO? Would anything else apart from the above effect the SEO for the site? Maybe the freshness of content also has a positive impact! The main purpose of your blog should be to help your users and other users that are relevant to your niche. Also if your blog is picking up lots of links, for this example lets say 100 links a month and the rest of the site outside of the blog is picking up 10 a month will the blogs power of picking up links effect the rest of the sites rankings, would you need to anchor text link out of the posts in the blog to make the most out of it? The blog will help the entire site. Include anchored text where it would make sense for your users. Example: If I had an article about creating content: This article is about creating content bla bla and also learn how to share content bla bla bla I would try to include my keywords, but always think of the users. Is this going to help them learn more? Is this going to entertain them? _The external links that are generated will be natural if your content is natural. _
