Better to update or add articles?
Make the new page for 2012 and then link it from the 2011 page. Believe me I am all for adding year values on websites, you would be surprised how many people search with the year value it is a crucial element. I would start the social buzz, articles, blogging, link building for the page as valentines day is soon.

Ecommerce: content on category pages
Hi Erica Yes, we've considered the solution with featured products (for other reasons than SEO though). But it seems to me that it can be difficult to integrate the generic keywords for our category pages in the product review. Anyways, that's definitely a solution I will take into consideration besides the general descriptive category text.

Do videos count as duplicate content?
The only way it could be duplicate content is if you load the video to multiple sites (it's better to load to one location on your site and share the EMBED feed) that way you also get credit for the inbound links too, and if you transcribe the content of your video feed for the site and populate that across multiple other sites. If you just transcribe the content of the video and leave it as is, you'll be fine

Dynamic title
This may be a little late to the game, but, Dynamic Page titles in IMO are not great. However, Will including page Views in the title benefit the users? Maybe. But I don't think that one or two dup page titles will kill your SEO. Worse case, could you mod your system to not allow Title which have already been used?

Impact of mobile pages on current rankings
Media queries don't redirect, but instead, display CSS stylesheets to fit different devices. 1 page to rule them all, so to say. Which means less work on your end in the long run.

Bold just the primary keyword or primary and secondary
I bold keywords as a way of emphasizing particular words or indicators. If I am trying to provide some detailed instructions or help and advice I will bold a section so the reader knows this is a very important part of the process. Everyone has different perceptions on the use of bold in text but if it actually helps the reader then it will also help the SEO part. I agree obvious bolding of text is so old skool and so obvious at times. Be authentic .

What is causing Bing and Google Rankings to Differ by so much?
That's a great question. I have wondered the same thing for so long, as I have been working on the SEO of our soccer equipment store at www.soccerstop.com for several years. One thing I have noticed is that it takes time. When I optimize or focus our backlink network to particular keywords it takes affect for the different search engines at different times, but eventually it seems to get to all of them. It's so easy to want to keep making changes because you may see a result in one and not the other. Then from the changes you don't know what's working or not working because the first set of changes hasn't taken affect in one or more of the search engines. I have felt that you have to come up with a plan and make those changes as you see necessary, and then give it some time to take affect. Thanks James

H1 tag in the footer?
The question is why do it? Some say that the H1 has little value, but thats not the case, goolge will try to find a heading and i believe SEOMoz test show that using a H1 had lttle benifit over other ways of presenting a header, but all the same a header you should have and the best header is the H1. Bing on the over hand dose value the H1 tag and sees no H1 tag as a violation. Bing says the H1 is almost as important as the Title tag. http://perthseocompany.com.au/seo/reports/violation/the-h1-tag-is-missing It also stats that muliplue use may lead to no indexing, I would not mess with it, expecialy if there is no reason to do so. http://perthseocompany.com.au/seo/reports/violation/the-page-contains-multiple-h1-tags

Duplicate content? Not sure.
Robert, thanks again for your patience and expertise. I think I'm clearer now. As long as these aren't considered duplicates, I'm happy. Thanks for the tip on All In One SEO plugin to not index the archive pages. I'll certainly get in there and do that. Right now, I"m just trying to identify the issues my client needs to address and not make too many changes to things until we've had the opportunity to go over them together. Your insight and instructions have been most helpful. Thank you!!!!

Wordpress Shortcodes Showing in SERPs
Well that's interesting - I see the code for the tags - it's coming out of this class: id="subgenre-tags-raw" style="display:none"> I also see that you have a meta description - this is a stumper! Why not head over to the google webmaster forum and reach out! I'd be very interested to see what they say!

Title Tag Not Relaying In Google Search
And Don is correct... If I search for just HCG Diet then I get the google suggested title for hcgdiet.com, whereas I get the full title when I search for "HCG Diet HCG Drops"

Mechanical Turk for reviews
How can you use Mechanical Turk here in an ethical way? Are the writers going to actually use your product? I doubt it (unless it's an informational product, and you're giving it away to them for free? You didn't really offer too much information). I agree with EGOL - if you don't ask for reviews, you wont get them. In one of my businesses where this is relevant, we specifically ask for a review of the order process at the time of the order, on the thank you page. We also email 24 hours later to solicit a review, and again 7 days later. Anyone who actually does leave a review, we again hit them up for a social "share" or the review they just left. Even with all of that, our review rate is only 1-2% of our customers. Simply put, if you're not aggressively soliciting reviews, they're not going to happen. On a more functional level, make sure it's as easy as possible to actually write the review. Facebook or twitter integration could make it easier, streamlining the login process (or skipping it altogether), or getting rid of captcha (this would obviously go hand in hand with manually deleting junk reviews, or disallowing links of any kind).

Two different keywords - one URL
Hi Anthony, My suggestion is to try to rank as #1 for your chosen keyword. Analyze the traffic for each keyword, how well they convert, the relevancy of the keyword to your content, etc. Focus on your chosen keyword and try not to balance between multiple keywords. The rewards for ranking in the #1 spot for a good keyword are huge. If you feel the secondary keyword phrase has value, you can always build a second page and focus on the additional phrase. I recognize the keywords you offered are just examples, but "beer brewing" has 2.7 million searches per month whereas "ways to make beer for small breweries" has zero. Optimizing for long tail is fine but you want to earn the #1 spot for long tail to make up for the reduced traffic flow.
