SEOmoz's On-page Checker upto date?
Yes, the on-page optimization tool is up to date with Google's recent updates. You'll notice that the tool will call out when you have over-optimized or keyword stuffed content. Because the on-page tool doesn't look at inbound links, however, getting an A+ in the tool won't mean that you are safe from Penguin penalties - make sure to be checking your inbound link profile as well.

Jquery in top of page vs text on bottom page
I think that there is one clear advantage of that slider: It looks a lot less spammy that the stuffed copy at the foot of the page. That has to be a good thing for any number of reasons. Another effect is that the slider could have an impact on dwell times. My concern would be that it detracts from the sales process. That particular example makes the slider seem a lot more clickable than the products to me. However some changes to style and presentation could probably improve that balance.

Do you recommend www.submit-it.com?
I would never use something like that always bites you on the arse. It seems too good to be true which it is.

Altering site structure
I think you are approaching this with the right tools, e.g. IA/UX. Make sure you look at what brought them to the site (query) before deciding on what they wanted. Then ask did they get what they came for? We have a similar non eCommerce site that is large & provides the same types of options. (Came to jellybean site and found there were 100's of types of jellybeans and started looking at other than what I came for). This may explain: A third area is that while we do get people to our SEO landing pages, they then quickly appear to get lost on the site and most do not make it to a conversion point. In other words, they came looking at one specific type you offer, then saw some others and went down that road, and likely more. (I did.) You might consider making some changes using A/B testing to see what changes cause behavior changes in your visitors. (Have you watched your traffic in analytics in real time?) Again, I liked what I saw on the whole and I have made a note to go back occasionally to see what's up. Keep me posted. Best

Wordpress SEo Plug In
Barret- Custom total tags are not an issue. With the plug in you can create a custom tag for each page/blog. They wont make any changes to old posts or require you to go back and make edits of old posts.... We have tried a variety of other options and there is nothing that is easier and more functional than the plug ins. Hope this helps. Mark

Why would meta description text get added to the meta HTTP-EQUIV tag?
I would insist on a typical description tag. That may work, but I, and you, know the typical description tag works. If someone has a new way of doing something that changes something you know works, you should play it safe unless there is a clear gain.

Rel=canonical Query
Andrew I would essentially suggest to use the crawl report from SEOMoz as a starting point and see which ones translate into real issues and then the effort/reward/prioritize based on time and resources available as well as the importance of that change. @Maximise is right-on, you can ignore the canonical "warnings". They are more like an FYI.

Does the positioning of the text on a webpage matter for search engines?
Dear all, thanks for replying. Is it a good idea to use jquery sliders on the top of your page to still get all your text above the fold and score in search engines? for example: http://www.wolf-howl.com/wp-content/uploads/after-slider.jpg is much better than http://www.wolf-howl.com/wp-content/uploads/before-slider1-310x1024.jpg ?? Thanks again!

Creating Authority and choosing URL's
Ha, very true. Or we're both wrong. However at this stage in SEO, Rand's comments are practicably gospel...so I feel pretty confident.

Rel Canonical Warning on most pages
Dear friend, 1. Panda = "Pour quality content" usually duplicate content with other sites or pages with small amount of content. 2. Penguin= "Unnatural Links " If you suspect about 1 and 2 try to work hard to resolve these issues first. ... And later check other things, I have some sites with very pour html and great content and natural links and they are ranking great. Remember the Google recommendation "useful content for visitors= more external links (votes)" which means high quality site. Hope it help

Are plural & singular versions of keywords considered repeats ?
Thanks for your prompt reply Irving Ah so in case of two word kw phrases with plural and singular versions the issue is not the plural/singular versions but the repeat of the othe word in the phrase ? So would you recommend the title along the lines of: 'UK Centre Guide | Leisure Centres' ? & renaming url to: www.leisurecentres.com/uk-centre-guide And u think using kw twice in url is overusing it ? surely if content is on page use is justified ? This does make sense although the consequences of implementation would result in pages targeting these keywords not achieving many of the ticks (and high grade) on seomoz page/kw analyser wouldnt it ?

SEO Titles and Keyword Density
if you included the plural and singular versions of a keyword in title tag would that be considered a keyword repeat ?

Main page link reduction
Ah I see, if that's what you are wanting to do then yes there is benefit to removing links to unnecessary pages and putting these on a customer service tab. I would also consider the effect this has on user experience, not just search engines. If those pages have useful information for customers then it is worth having them easily accessible.

Canonical tags
**google bot crawled our new pages yesterday, canonical tag was placed maybe week ago. ** The canonical tag which is providing the adjustment is the one on the old page, not the new one. In order to fully update Google needs to crawl both the old and new pages. So it should see this tag, but looks like they ignore this tag. That is not true. Your understanding of how the process works is not complete. You are not using the best solution and you are expecting results way too fast. 301 redirection is not good idea as we loose ~10% of link juice, that's why it's recommended to use canonical. You lose a small amount of link juice when performing a redirect. That amount is estimated as between 1 and 10%. You lose the same amount when using a canonical tag. All of the above information is correct, but I sense you are convinced otherwise so perhaps this video from Matt Cutts will change your mind: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zW5UL3lzBOA

Changing domain name
Hi Valdas, It depends if you would like to keep the content and rankings achieved from the individual sites. I would imagine this is important, in which case I think the best approach would be to transfer the sites from their current domains into the subfolders on the new domain. This way each page would still exist but just on the new domain e.g. www.newdomain.com/site1/post-1 This would then leave all the content in place and allow you to capture all the long tail traffic you were getting before. To do this would be more time consuming as you would need to 301 redirect each individual URL to the new URL but it would help you to make the most of the work you have done on each of the individual sites.

Rate of similarity between two pages
I had major problems with one of my sites due to Panda and I've been asked this question many times. I've never found out an exact number but after rewriting the content the site now preforms extremely well. I spent a long time trying to find that figure but couldn't find a solid answer. Using copyscape.com helped a bit. I'll be interested in what other people have to say on this subject.
